CarbonCure vs Converge
Two routes to lower-carbon concrete that both work with ready-mix producers. CarbonCure retrofits concrete plants to inject captured CO2 into fresh concrete, where it mineralizes and lets producers reduce cement, and sells carbon credits with revenue shared with producers. Converge sells ConcreteDNA, wireless sensors and data tools for in-place strength and temperature monitoring, plus Mix AI, which it says helps contractors choose the most carbon-efficient mix.
In short: CarbonCure (Low-carbon concrete technology; no public prices (quote / sales)) vs Converge (Concrete sensors & AI mix insights; no public prices (quote / sales)). Facts last checked Oct 22, 2026. No winner declared; not tested.

| What it does | Carbon utilization technology for concrete producers that injects captured CO2 into fresh concrete, allowing cement reductions. The vendor says the CO2 mineralizes and stays embedded, maintaining compressive strength while allowing cement reductions. Also generates and sells carbon credits, sharing revenue with producers. Vendor cites 10M+ truckloads produced across two dozen countries (vendor claim). A materials technology, not AI software. Re-read Oct 18, 2026: the technologies page says a Valve Box connected to an on-site CO2 tank doses the CO2 during mixing, a Control Box syncs with the plant's batching software, and the equipment is retrofitted in one visit; the Ready Mix page says producers reduce cement content by 3-5% on average and save 15-25 lb of CO2 per cubic yard (vendor claims). Re-read Oct 19, 2026: the technologies page adds that Control Box telemetry syncs to a CarbonCure Command Centre for remote support, with a 99% uptime claim, and that producers see system usage in myCarbonCure (vendor statements). Re-checked Oct 20, 2026: technologies page unchanged in substance (CO2 injected during mixing mineralizes into calcium carbonate; Valve Box on the on-site CO2 tank; Control Box integrated with the plant's batching software; one-visit retrofit; Command Centre telemetry and myCarbonCure usage summaries). It adds that in ready mix dry batch plants the CO2 goes into the hopper and in central mix or masonry plants into the central mixer (vendor statements). Re-checked Oct 21, 2026: homepage, technologies and Ready Mix pages unchanged in substance (CO2 injected during mixing forms calcium carbonate; Valve Box on the on-site CO2 tank, Control Box integrated with batching software, one-visit retrofit; Command Centre telemetry and myCarbonCure usage summaries; 3-5% average cement reduction and 15-25 lb of CO2 per cubic yard, vendor claims). The pages now show running counters of CO2 saved and truckloads delivered (vendor figures, not used). Re-read Oct 22, 2026 for a compare: homepage, technologies and Ready Mix pages unchanged in substance (CO2 injected during mixing reacts with calcium ions to form nano-sized calcium carbonate, enhancing cement hydration so producers can reduce cement; Valve Box on the on-site CO2 tank, Control Box integrated with batching software, one-visit retrofit; Command Centre telemetry; carbon credits sold to corporate buyers with revenue shared with producers; installation, testing and ongoing support in its post-launch service model). Counters, cement-reduction and CO2 figures and customer quotes remain vendor material not used. | ConcreteDNA suite for concrete strength and temperature monitoring, delivery and lab test data collection, and AI mix insights. It comprises wireless sensors for real-time concrete strength and temperature monitoring (Cure), automated collection of delivery records and lab test data (Data Hub), and predictive and generative AI mix insights (Mix). The embedded Signal Long Range sensor is said to cover up to 72 acres from a single gateway. A precast curing and unit-tracking product is in early access beta. Vendor claims monitoring helps build up to 30% faster (vendor claim, not verified). Recent posts focus on mass-concrete temperature monitoring for data center foundations. Re-checked Oct 19, 2026: the Mix AI app is now marked beta, the precast product is named FieldAtlas (factory curing data and element location tracking in the yard, in transit and on site; still early access), and the hardware list adds HELIX, a reusable long-range sensor with up to 1.5 mile range and Thermal Tails probes, alongside the Bluetooth Signal sensor (described as ASTM-compliant) and Converge Mesh. Listed use cases include data centers, post-tensioning, thermal differential monitoring, tunneling and major civils, and Converge runs a partner program for ready-mix producers. Re-checked Oct 21, 2026: the homepage rendered only headline content in our browser, so details were read from the readymixers page, which lists the Signal System (wireless embeddable sensors for temperature and strength), the Helix System (reusable long-range sensors), Concrete DNA (app and dashboard) and Mix AI, and a ready-mix partner program referencing a Tarmac partnership; the Mix AI page now offers Request Early Access (it was marked beta on Oct 19), so we treat Mix AI as early access. Re-read Oct 22, 2026 for a compare: homepage and ready-mix page unchanged in substance (ConcreteDNA with sensor monitoring, Data Hub and Mix AI, which the homepage says uses predictive and generative AI to help pick the most carbon-efficient mix; Signal, Signal Long Range and Helix sensors; FieldAtlas for precast; a ready-mix partner program to package sensors with concrete, aimed at cement reduction, new low-carbon mixes, optimised strike times and fewer test cubes, referencing a Tarmac partnership). The 30% faster line and customer quotes are vendor material not used. |

Where the vendor descriptions differ
- Who it serves: CarbonCure is installed at ready-mix, precast and masonry plants, with resources for designers, builders and owners who specify lower-carbon concrete. Converge sells to contractors, GCs and precast producers, and runs a ready-mix partner program in which producers package its sensors with their concrete (its site references a Tarmac partnership).
- How carbon comes down: CarbonCure says injected CO2 reacts with calcium ions from cement to form nano-sized calcium carbonate, which improves cement hydration and protects compressive strength, so producers can reduce cement content. Converge says field data on how concrete performs guides mix improvements, cement reduction and new low-carbon mixes, and that optimising strike times helps customers use low-carbon concrete and fewer test cubes.
- Hardware and setup: CarbonCure retrofits a plant in one visit, with a Valve Box connected to an on-site CO2 tank and a Control Box integrated with the batching software (CO2 into the hopper in dry batch plants, into the central mixer in central mix and masonry plants), and Command Centre telemetry for remote support. Converge's sensors go into the pour: the Bluetooth Signal sensor (described as ASTM-compliant), Signal Long Range, which it says covers up to 72 acres from one gateway, and the reusable Helix with Thermal Tails probes; Data Hub collects delivery records and lab test data, and FieldAtlas tracks precast curing and unit location.
- AI: CarbonCure is tagged Not AI-first; it is a materials technology. Converge is tagged AI features added: the homepage describes Mix AI as predictive and generative AI for mix selection, optimisation and design, and on our Oct 21 read its Mix AI page offered Request Early Access.
- Carbon credits: CarbonCure generates and sells carbon credits to corporate buyers and shares the revenue with producers. Converge does not describe carbon credits.
- Pricing (checked Oct 22, 2026): neither publishes prices. CarbonCure's /pricing returns not found and the site routes to a CarbonCure rep. Converge's /pricing returns not found and its calls to action are Book a free demo and Get a quote.
- Not used here: CarbonCure's counters, cement-reduction and CO2-per-yard figures and producer quotes, and Converge's 30% faster claim and customer quotes (vendor material). Neither tool has been tested by Means & Methods Lab.
