Construction tech venture capital firms: who funds construction AI (2026)

If you buy construction software, the investors behind a vendor tell you something about its runway, its likely partners and who might one day buy it. We read the websites of the specialist built-world venture firms and the funding announcements of generalist firms that have backed construction AI, on Oct 18, 2026. For each firm we give its stated focus in its own words and a few construction-tech companies it publicly lists or is named in, linked to our directory where we cover them. This is not a ranking, a recommendation or investment advice; it is desk research, not tested.

DESK RESEARCH, NOT TESTED. Figures come from the sources listed below. Vendor and company statements are claims and are not verified by Means & Methods Lab.

How we built this list

We included a firm only if we could read its focus on its own website or see it named as an investor in a company announcement or a news report. Portfolio companies come from the firm's own portfolio page (which often mixes current holdings and exits) or from a funding release that names the firm. We list companies that are in our directory first; a firm's full portfolio is usually much larger.

Firms are grouped as specialists (funds that describe the built world or construction as their focus) and generalists (firms with broader mandates that have led or joined construction AI rounds). Corporate and contractor-affiliated venture arms such as Suffolk Technologies, WND Ventures (DPR Construction), Cemex Ventures, Hilti Venture and Trimble Ventures are covered in a companion guide, and recent rounds are in our funding tracker; both are linked under Related articles. Partner and founder names are left out on purpose: this page is about firms.

Specialists: funds focused on the built world

Brick & Mortar Ventures says its mission is to identify, invest in and grow emerging companies developing software and hardware for architecture, engineering, construction and facilities management. Its portfolio page links to ALICE, Siteline, Curri, Planera, Pronto, Pelles AI, Gearflow, Rhumbix and Dili, among others. Earlytrade's June 9, 2026 release says S3 Ventures and Brick & Mortar Ventures led its Series A.

Foundamental calls itself a first partner to founders in the project economy: infrastructure, architecture, engineering and construction, heavy supply chains and one-off manufacturing. It says it invests as early as day zero with a first cheque of $500k to $5 million. Its portfolio page lists Handoff, PermitFlow, Reframe Systems, Snaptrude and Earlytrade.

Building Ventures says it invests in companies reshaping how the built environment is designed, built, operated and experienced. Its companies page lists Built Robotics, Clearstory, SmartPM, Parspec, UpCodes, Kantiv, Newforma and Join. Parspec's July 8, 2025 Series A release names Building Ventures as an existing investor.

Zacua Ventures describes itself as the Builders Fund, investing in the next generation of built environment entrepreneurs. Its portfolio page lists Document Crunch, Field Materials, Sitewire, Mercator.ai, Outbuild, CONXAI, Track3D, Gravis Robotics, BuildCrew.AI and Neuron Factory. It co-led Track3D's $10 million Series A (Sept. 23, 2025) and Gravis Robotics' $23 million round (November 2025), according to those companies' announcements.

Shadow Ventures says it invests in founders solving difficult problems in construction and real estate and invites pre-seed and seed startups to apply; it highlights a base of strategic limited partners from construction, engineering and real estate. Its site features ICON, Lumina and AUAR, and Track3D's Series A release names Shadow Ventures as an existing investor.

Nine Four Ventures calls itself an early-stage PropTech investor in technologies that touch the built world, and says it owns properties where portfolio companies can test products. Its companies page links to OpenSpace, Kojo, Bridgit, Built Technologies and TrustLayer.

Navitas Capital describes itself as a partner to innovators transforming the built world. Its portfolio page links to Matterport, OpenSpace, Document Crunch, Field Materials and CivCheck, and records exits including Firmus (acquired by Bluebeam in 2025) and CivCheck (acquired by Clariti). Field Materials' April 30, 2025 release says Navitas led its $10.5 million Series A.

Fifth Wall says it invests in companies redefining the built world at the intersection of real estate, technology and energy. Its portfolio page lists Built Technologies and Document Crunch, and Higharc's June 30, 2026 Series C release names Fifth Wall among existing investors.

Two more specialists appear as round leads in announcements we read: Builders VC, which TechCrunch describes as a firm focused on construction technology, co-led Anori's $26 million (March 19, 2026), and Ironspring Ventures led Track3D's Series A and Wyre AI's $5 million seed (September 2026).

Generalists that back construction AI

Y Combinator lists dozens of companies under its construction industry page, including Downtobid, InspectMind, UpCodes, Helonic, Karmen, Curri, PermitFlow, Structured AI, Constructable and FlowManual. Our Y Combinator roundup covers 19 of them in detail.

Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) published a post on June 1, 2026 saying it is leading Endra's Series A; Startup.eu reported the round at $50 million. a16z is also named as an existing investor in Adaptive's Sept. 17, 2026 Series B release.

Insight Partners led four rounds in our tracker: Trunk Tools' $40 million Series B (July 24, 2025), Remarcable's $15 million Series A (June 10, 2025), GreenLite's $49.5 million Series B (Sept. 15, 2025) and Higharc's $95 million Series C (June 30, 2026). Accel says it led Agave's seed and Series A (July 7, 2026), and PropTech Connect reported Accel led PermitFlow's $54 million Series B (Dec. 4, 2025).

8VC led Bedrock Robotics' $60 million Series A (July 2025) and Bobyard's $35 million Series A (Dec. 9, 2025), per 8VC and Bobyard. Khosla Ventures led Dili's $15 million Series A (TechCrunch, July 30, 2026). Bessemer Venture Partners led MeltPlan's $10 million seed (Feb. 25, 2026), and Battery Ventures led Miter's $40 million Series B (Sept. 30, 2026).

Founders Fund led a $23 million Series B in Netic, an AI booking and customer service platform for home service trades such as roofers and plumbers, in November 2025 (Fenwick, Insurance Journal). Netic is not in our directory; we include the firm because it is often named in this space.

Firms we checked but did not include

Thomvest Ventures: its portfolio page lists fintech, AI and data infrastructure and cybersecurity companies, and its blog has published research on construction payments, but we did not find a construction-tech company in its portfolio or a construction round it led, so we leave it out until we can source one.

Construct Capital describes itself as an early-stage firm investing in founders rebuilding foundational industries such as manufacturing, logistics, defense and energy. Torch Systems' October 2026 announcement names it among its equity investors, but its portfolio page does not list a construction software company in our directory.

What a buyer can read from the cap table

These are our suggestions, not findings. A specialist built-world investor usually brings introductions to contractors and owners, which can mean pilots and integrations arrive faster; it does not mean the product has been tested on projects like yours. A large round from a generalist growth investor often comes with pressure to grow quickly, which can show up as new modules, price changes or a push toward platform bundles.

Many firms on this page list exits to larger software vendors (Firmus to Bluebeam, CivCheck to Clariti, PlanGrid to Autodesk on Navitas's page), so ask any young vendor what happens to your contract, data and exports on a change of control. Ask who the investors are, when the last round closed and whether the vendor is profitable or still burning cash; several releases we read say so plainly (Agave's lead investor says it has been profitable for over two years; DroneDeploy said it reached break-even before Procore bought it).

Not investment advice

This guide describes publicly stated focus areas and publicly disclosed investments for buyers of construction software. It is not investment advice, not a ranking of firms and not an offer or solicitation of any kind. Fund strategies and portfolios change; check each firm's own site.

Takeaways

  • We list 19 venture firms: 10 built-world specialists (including Builders VC and Ironspring Ventures) and 9 generalists (Y Combinator, a16z, Insight Partners, Accel, 8VC, Khosla, Bessemer, Battery, Founders Fund); Thomvest and Construct Capital were checked and left out.
  • Specialist funds such as Brick & Mortar, Foundamental, Building Ventures, Zacua, Shadow, Nine Four, Navitas and Fifth Wall each publish portfolios that include tools in our directory.
  • Generalists led several of the largest recent rounds, including Insight Partners (Trunk Tools, GreenLite, Remarcable, Higharc) and a16z (Endra).
  • Investor names describe runway and connections, not product quality; ask young vendors about exits, data portability and burn.
