Snaptrude vs SWAPP

Two AI tools for architecture firms at opposite ends of design: early concept and massing, or construction documents. Not like-for-like (our reading): Snaptrude is a browser-based workspace that takes an RFP or brief and a site to a program, massing, BIM and a presentation, then exports to Revit and Rhino, while SWAPP works inside Revit and ArchiCAD to produce construction document sets, models and QA checks to a firm's own standards through its agentic assistant Frank. Vendor pages read Oct 20, 2026; desk research, not tested, no winner.

What it doesBrowser-based AEC design platform with one AI-native workspace for site analysis, programming, massing, BIM and presentation. The vendor calls it "the design OS for AEC". Upload an RFP or project brief (PDF) and a site, and AI generates a program and diagrams that you refine in the Snaptrude editor. Lists AI program creation from prompts or RFPs, a spreadsheet program live-linked to the 3D model, deep research on building regulations, zoning codes and site constraints, one-click adjacencies, area and solar analysis, one-click mass-to-BIM conversion (walls, floors, roofs), AI renders, real-time collaboration, and export to Revit (.rvt, via the Snaptrude Manager plugin) and Rhino. Also promotes an App Builder (describe a workflow, get an app). Vendor says it is SOC 2 Type 2 compliant. A testimonial on the homepage claims 4 days of work done in 4 hours (customer claim, not verified). Re-read Oct 17, 2026: homepage unchanged in substance (App Builder banner, SOC 2 Type 2, Revit and Rhino export); the pricing page's Free plan now lists 1 project instead of 3. Re-checked Oct 19, 2026: homepage unchanged in substance (design OS for AEC, App Builder banner, RFP upload, Rhino and Revit export, SOC 2 Type 2). Re-checked Oct 20, 2026: homepage unchanged in substance (App Builder banner, RFP or brief upload, Rhino and Revit export via the Snaptrude Manager plugin, SOC 2 Type 2); the security section also lists end-to-end encryption and private IP isolation for AI queries, and the footer links comparison pages for SketchUp, Revit and ArchiCAD.AI documentation and modeling platform for architecture firms that produces CD sets, models and QA checks inside Revit and ArchiCAD. It executes work in the model: complete construction document sets (dimensions, tags, views, sheets) to a firm's standards, 2D-to-3D modeling, finish schedules and parameters from SD through CD, QA validations, and agentic ADA checking that finds and fixes issues in the model. Frank is its agentic assistant that reads and writes the live model. Each engagement starts with a two-week onboarding that encodes the firm's guidelines and QA logic. Vendor claims it automates up to 80% of CD tasks, has delivered 35M+ sq ft of documents and saved 104,300+ production hours in two years (vendor claims, not verified). Preconstruction coordination, construction RFI feedback and operations modules are listed as "Coming 2026". Vendor says it is ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certified and that native BIM files are not sent to third-party LLM providers. Re-read Oct 17, 2026: homepage unchanged in substance; the navigation now lists a Frank Skills Library, Workflow Memory and an Integrations page naming Revit, ArchiCAD, Procore and Trimble. Re-checked Oct 19, 2026: unchanged in substance; Frank is now billed as an AI Architect, with Revit and Archicad demo pages; the 80% CD-task, 35M+ sq ft and 104,300 hour figures and the Coming 2026 modules are unchanged (vendor claims). Re-checked Oct 20, 2026: unchanged in substance (Frank billed as an AI Architect that reads and writes the live Revit or ArchiCAD model, two-week onboarding, workflow memory, Preconstruction, Construction and Operations modules still Coming 2026, ISO/IEC 27001:2022 with native BIM files not sent to third-party LLM providers); the homepage also offers Request Early Access next to Book a Demo.

Pricing (as publicly stated)Free $0 (1 free project, basic BIM and Revit export, single user, limited presentation outputs); Individual $60/month (unlimited projects and presentation outputs); Organization $100/month billed annually (teams and collaboration, license and team management portal, 3 license transfers a year, custom roles and permissions, BIM library and custom RFAs); Enterprise custom, billed annually (unlimited licenses, SSO, SAML and MFA, open API access, premium support, directory sync). The page says upgrading unlocks unlimited projects and extended AI generations. (Re-checked Oct 17, 2026. Earlier check Oct 15, 2026: the Free plan listed 3 projects; paid plan prices were the same.) Re-checked Oct 19, 2026: unchanged (headless Chrome): Free $0 with 1 project, Individual $60/month, Organization $100/month billed annually, Enterprise custom. Re-checked Oct 20, 2026: no price change (Free $0 with 1 project, Individual $60/month, Organization $100/month billed annually, Enterprise custom billed annually). Not publicly listed. Pricing page (checked Oct 16, 2026) now describes credit-based pricing with no rigid tiers or fixed scopes: credits are consumed across the platform by the work you run (documentation, modeling, annotation, optimization), with different tasks consuming credits differently; a custom quote form asks for firm size and project types, and a quick estimate can be requested. No credit prices shown. Earlier note (Oct 15, 2026): Not publicly listed (pricing page is a quote form; vendor says engagements start with a pilot on your own projects). Re-checked Oct 17, 2026: unchanged (credit-based, custom quote form, no credit prices). Re-checked Oct 19, 2026: unchanged. (credit-based, custom quote, no credit prices). Re-checked Oct 20, 2026: unchanged (credit-based, no tiers, custom quote form asking firm size, project types, Revit use and US projects; quick estimate on request; no credit prices).

Where the vendor descriptions differ

  • Design stage: Snaptrude covers site analysis, programming, massing, BIM and presentation and calls itself the design OS for AEC, "from brief to BIM". SWAPP covers documentation and modeling from SD through CD: complete CD sets (dimensions, tags, views, sheets), 2D-to-3D modeling, finish schedules and parameters, QA validations and agentic ADA checking that finds and fixes issues in the model.
  • Where the work happens: Snaptrude runs in the browser with its own editor and exports .rvt files through its Snaptrude Manager plugin, plus Rhino; firms can upload their own Revit object types. SWAPP executes inside Revit and ArchiCAD: Frank reads and writes the live model, triggered in conversation or suggested as the team works, and the team approves before Frank executes. Its integrations page names Revit, ArchiCAD, Procore and Trimble.
  • How the AI is used: Snaptrude generates programs from prompts or uploaded RFPs and sites, keeps a spreadsheet program live-linked to the 3D model, researches building regulations, zoning codes and site constraints, creates adjacencies from codes and the program, runs area and solar analysis, converts massing to BIM in one click and makes AI renders; it also promotes an App Builder (describe a workflow, get an app). SWAPP learns the firm's annotation rules, QA logic and graphic standards in a two-week onboarding, then applies them, and says every correction the team makes becomes part of its workflow memory.
  • Getting started: Snaptrude has a free plan and self-serve paid plans. SWAPP says every engagement starts with a pilot on your own projects and standards, booked through a demo; its homepage also offers Request Early Access.
  • Security (vendor statements): Snaptrude says it is SOC 2 Type 2 compliant, encrypts data in transit and at rest and isolates AI queries within the customer's IP. SWAPP says it is ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certified with hard tenant isolation, that native BIM files are never sent to third-party LLM providers and that customer data is not used to train general models.
  • For contractors: neither is built for contractors; they mostly meet these tools through the design team's models and drawings. SWAPP has a Contractors & Owners page and lists Preconstruction (clash-prone element flags), Construction (RFI feedback) and Operations modules as Coming 2026. The Snaptrude pages we read describe architects.
  • AI tags: both stay AI-first.
  • Pricing (checked Oct 20, 2026): Snaptrude publishes Free $0 (1 project, basic BIM and Revit export, single user), Individual $60/month (unlimited projects), Organization $100/month billed annually (teams, license management, custom roles, BIM library and custom RFAs) and Enterprise custom, billed annually (unlimited licenses, SSO, SAML and MFA, open API). SWAPP uses credit-based pricing with no tiers; credits are consumed by the work you run, different tasks use different amounts, and a custom quote form asks for firm size, project types, Revit use and US projects; no credit prices are shown.
  • Not used here: SWAPP's up-to-80% CD-task, 35M+ sq ft and 104,300+ hour figures, customer quotes and "trusted by" line, and Snaptrude's 4-days-to-4-hours testimonial, "trusted by" line and learning-time claims. Neither tool has been tested by Means & Methods Lab.
