SmartPM vs Buildots

Two ways to see whether a job is slipping. SmartPM is a schedule analytics and project controls platform that reads your existing CPM schedule updates and reports schedule quality, progress against baseline, delays and compression across a portfolio, with published annual prices. Buildots is AI construction intelligence that captures the site and compares what is built against the plan to flag activities and trades putting the delivery date at risk, sold by quote with on-site setup support. Not like-for-like: SmartPM works from the schedule data you already produce, Buildots from site captures of physical progress, so many teams would weigh them as complements rather than substitutes. Desk research from vendor sites read Oct 30, 2026; no winner.

What it doesProject controls and schedule analytics platform that connects to existing CPM scheduling software to check schedule quality, progress and delays. It runs what the vendor calls Automated Project Controls: schedule quality checks, progress against baselines, delay and compression metrics, and windows analysis, with executive, company and project dashboards, a project workspace and a web-based Gantt. The menu lists Controls, Essentials, Reporting and Integrations, solutions for GCs and CM firms, owners and developers and government, a Certified Consultants program and SmartPM Bootcamp; the integrations page lists Procore, Autodesk Forma and an Open API. The pricing FAQ says the Analytics Engine connects to existing tools through an API without changing scheduling tools, individual projects can be upgraded from Essentials to Controls and projects can sit on different plans, and it is cloud-based with no installation. The pages do not describe the product as AI, so we tag it Not AI-first. It adds trade/contractor management, workforce visibility, site documentation, payment-application support and portfolio reporting by connecting BIM, schedule, site and workforce data; the vendor says a local team helps set up on site. Products: Buildots (AI construction intelligence), Buildots Field (workforce intelligence, safety and logistics) and the Capture Services add-on for fully managed site captures. The Buildots Field page says it is powered by Genda, which Buildots says it acquired in October 2025, and describes QR-code worker enrolment, Bluetooth beacons (location only while workers are on site) and one app for hoist calls, delivery booking, access control, permits, safety orientations and hazard reports; it says a fully integrated Buildots Field app is on track for general availability in Q4 2026 (vendor statements). Project types listed include commercial, multifamily, healthcare, industrial, education, data centers and airports.
