BlackHyve vs blade ai
Two products that try to catch problems while a job is running, from opposite ends. Not like-for-like (our reading): BlackHyve is a trade-contractor operations platform that sets daily production against the estimate and records "drift" (broken conditions such as blocked access or late information) so a sub sees the bid-versus-earned gap the week it opens; blade ai, from Inertia Systems, is a connected intelligence layer that links drawings, models, RFIs, submittals, inspections and turnover records to one project baseline for GCs, owners and design teams. Vendor pages read Oct 20, 2026; desk research, not tested, no winner.
In short: BlackHyve (Project drift tracking; no public prices (quote / sales)) vs blade ai (Inertia) (Connected project intelligence; no public prices (quote / sales)). Facts last checked Oct 20, 2026. No winner declared; not tested.

| What it does | Trade contractor production tracking that sets work installed against the estimate and logs "drift" such as schedule slips and trade collisions. Re-read Oct 17, 2026: it says it connects the estimate, time cards, daily production and the record of what went wrong so the bid-versus-earned gap shows the week it happens; its drift framework names eight conditions the bid assumed (access, materials, tools, equipment, information, sequence, leadership and team size) and separates internal drift from external drift routed to notices, change orders and claims. Foremen log drift by voice or video in an iOS and Android app. Built for electrical, mechanical, plumbing, concrete and steel contractors (vendor statement). Its trust center states SOC 2 compliance. Re-checked Oct 19, 2026: the drift page now says a foreman's 30-second voice note is transcribed and categorized by AI, the only AI feature we found, so we keep the Not AI-first tag; the homepage lists the eight conditions as access, quality, sequence, information, material, tools, leadership and team size, and offers to show production against bid and drift on a real project within one week (vendor statements). Re-checked Oct 20, 2026: homepage, drift page and contact page unchanged in substance (production against the estimate updated daily, internal drift routed to operations and external drift to notices, change orders and claims, 30-second foreman voice notes that AI transcribes and categorizes, built for electrical, mechanical, plumbing, concrete and steel trades on commercial and industrial work). The site now calls itself a construction operations platform and its footer links an AI & your data page. The two pages still list the eight conditions differently: the homepage names quality where the drift page names equipment; confirm with BlackHyve. The founder's closeout-points story and the drift page's worked dollar example are illustrations, not used as figures here. | Connected intelligence layer from Inertia Systems that links drawings, models, documents and field activity, with AI search on top. It builds one project baseline and answers plain-language questions. Re-read Oct 18, 2026: it builds on Inertia's inspection and work-in-place technology (Inertia Classic login still offered) and makes the drawing the system of record, linking each object to its spec section, RFI thread, submittal status, inspection history and turnover record; sheets are versioned, quality checks surface missing references and revision conflicts, models are ingested in the background without opening the authoring software, and RFIs, submittals, inspections, commissioning and daily logs start from the object and update the live drawing. Its AI Intelligence capability offers semantic search across drawings, forms, specs, model elements and inspections and plain-language answers that point back to source records; it says project data is not used to train shared public models. It says it sits above existing construction software rather than replacing it, and names architects, VDC teams, GCs, subcontractors, owner's reps and owners. Listed at Groundbreak as "Blade Ai (by Interia System)". Re-read Oct 19, 2026: unchanged in substance. Re-checked Oct 20, 2026: homepage and solution page unchanged in substance (Blade Reference Layer linking drawings, models, forms, inspections, RFIs, submittals and decisions into one project baseline; live drawings with quality checks and automatic version control; background multi-format model ingest with persistent element IDs; five capabilities: Live Drawings, Publish & Review, Connected Workflows, AI Intelligence and Real-Time Insights; sits above the existing stack). The site now advertises human support from 7am to 7pm PT. The superintendent time-split quote on the homepage is a workshop anecdote, not used as a figure here. |
| Who it's for | Contractors tracking productivity against bid assumptions. | Commercial construction project teams: architects, VDC and innovation teams, general contractors, subcontractors, owner's reps and owners (vendor wording). |
| Pricing (as publicly stated) | No public prices found (re-checked Oct 17 and Oct 19, 2026): the vendor site has no pricing or plans link in its navigation or footer, and /pricing returns a not-found page. The site's call to action is "Let's Talk", with a contact page offering a conversation and product walkthrough. Confirm current pricing with the vendor. Re-checked Oct 20, 2026: unchanged; /pricing still returns a not-found page, there is no pricing link, and the call to action is still Let's Talk. | Custom quote / no public prices on pricing page (checked Oct 16, 2026; unchanged Oct 18, 2026). Two plans, both via sales: Office (3 projects included, unlimited users, integrations, custom workflows and forms, SSO and audit logs) and Enterprise (adds custom data residency, SLAs and DPA, dedicated CSM). Re-checked Oct 19, 2026: unchanged, except that the Enterprise plan now also lists an executive sponsor and names ENR Top-100 GCs, national owners and multi-BU deployments. Re-checked Oct 20, 2026: no price changes (still no figures; Office with 3 projects included, unlimited users, all active integrations, custom workflows and forms, SSO and audit logs via Talk to sales; Enterprise adds custom data residency, SLAs and DPA, an executive sponsor and a dedicated CSM). The pricing FAQ lists questions on plan switching, training and implementation, monthly or annual billing and payment methods; their answers did not render on the page we read. |

Where the vendor descriptions differ
- What each tracks: BlackHyve connects the estimate, time cards, daily production and the record of what went wrong, and sorts drift into internal causes (material staging, crew allocation, equipment, tools, foreman span) routed to operations and external causes (GC schedule changes, other trades, design changes and RFI delays, owner changes, site access) routed to notices, change orders and claims. blade ai makes the drawing the system of record: each object links to its spec section, RFI thread, submittal status, inspection history and turnover record, sheets are versioned, and quality checks surface missing references and revision conflicts.
- Who it is for: BlackHyve says it is built for electrical, mechanical, plumbing, concrete and steel trade contractors running crews on commercial or industrial projects. blade ai names six roles (architects, VDC and innovation teams, general contractors, subcontractors, owner's reps and owners) across design, precon, build, turnover and operate.
- Where AI sits: BlackHyve's AI feature, per its drift page, transcribes and categorizes a foreman's 30-second voice note; the rest is connected data and reporting, so we tag it Not AI-first. blade ai lists AI Intelligence as one of five capabilities, with semantic search and plain-language answers that point back to source records, and says project data is not used to train shared public models (tagged AI-first).
- Fit with existing tools: blade ai says it sits above the existing construction software stack and ingests models in the background without opening the authoring software. BlackHyve's pages describe connecting the estimate, time cards and progress that already exist on a job but do not name specific integrations.
- Pricing (checked Oct 20, 2026): BlackHyve publishes no prices (no pricing link; /pricing returns a not-found page; Let's Talk, with an offer to show production against bid and drift on a real project within one week). blade ai publishes plan contents but no figures: Office (3 projects included, unlimited users, integrations, custom workflows and forms, SSO and audit logs) and Enterprise (custom data residency, SLAs and DPA, executive sponsor, dedicated CSM), both through sales.
- Not used here: BlackHyve's founder closeout story and drift-page dollar example, and blade ai's superintendent time-split quote; they are illustrations, not measurements. The two BlackHyve pages also list its eight production conditions slightly differently (quality on one, equipment on the other). Neither tool has been tested by Means & Methods Lab.
