OpenSpace vs Buildots
Two AI-first construction-phase tools that turn site data into progress and risk information. Listed for context: field and progress tools are outside the preconstruction benchmark scope. Compared using only vendor-published facts.

| AI role (our label) | AI-first | AI-first |
| What it does | Visual intelligence platform that captures jobsite imagery (photos, video, voice notes, 360 walks, drone flights) into one visual record, with plan and model comparison, issue and RFI resolution, BIM coordination, and AI workflows. Progress tracking is sold as OpenSpace Track, an add-on: vendor describes AI-powered tracking with humans in the loop, 700+ visual components across 200+ schedule tasks, schedule support for P6, MS Project, Asta, and Excel, no BIM required (a model can be added), and progress reports 24-48 hours after capture; it says imagery is ready in 15 minutes on average and a 25,000 sq. ft. capture typically takes 10 minutes (vendor claims). Integrations named: Procore, Autodesk, Revizto. Vendor cites 77 billion square feet captured and 132 countries served (vendor claims). | Construction intelligence platform that compares what's built on site to the plan, flags activities and deviations that could put the delivery date at risk, and adds trade/contractor management, workforce visibility, site documentation, and portfolio reporting by connecting BIM, schedule, site, and workforce data. Vendor says a local team helps set up on site and claims projects using Buildots reduce delays by up to 50% (vendor claim, not verified). |
| Who it's for | Owners, general contractors, and trades. | Executives, owners, project teams, and CM services (construction phase rather than precon). |
| Pricing (as publicly stated) | Quote-based. Vendor says pricing is based on annual construction volume (ACV) and subscription tier (Core or Enterprise), not per user or per project; Enterprise adds SSO and API access; OpenSpace Track is an add-on to either tier, sold at the project or portfolio level and priced on project type and scope tracked (Track FAQ). Annual subscriptions can cover a single project, and a Core pilot can be requested. No prices listed. (Pricing page checked Oct 14, Track FAQ Oct 15, 2026.) | Not publicly listed |

Where the vendor descriptions differ
- Product shape: OpenSpace describes a visual intelligence platform that captures photos, video, voice notes, 360 walks, and drone flights into one visual record, then uses it to compare plans and models, resolve issues, and track progress. Buildots describes construction intelligence that compares what's built to the plan, flags activities and deviations that could put the delivery date at risk, and adds trade management, workforce visibility, site documentation, and portfolio reporting.
- Progress tracking: OpenSpace sells progress tracking as OpenSpace Track, an add-on to its Core or Enterprise subscriptions. Buildots lists progress reports against the plan among its platform features; we recorded no packaging or add-on structure for Buildots.
- Capture: OpenSpace says capture works with any device, from smartphones to 360 cameras to drones, with unlimited capture across projects. We did not record Buildots' capture hardware or method from its website.
- Support model: OpenSpace includes guided onboarding in Core and deeper onboarding in Enterprise. Buildots says a local team helps set up on site and stays through the build, with forward-deployed specialists on major projects.
- Integrations: OpenSpace names Procore, Autodesk, and Revizto, with API access on Enterprise. Buildots says it connects BIM, schedule, site, and workforce data; we recorded no named integrations.
- Pricing: OpenSpace is quote-based on annual construction volume and tier (not per user or per project), annual subscriptions can cover a single project, and a Core pilot can be requested. Buildots publishes no prices.
- Vendor-stated figures: OpenSpace cites 77 billion square feet captured and 132 countries served. Buildots says projects using it reduce delays by up to 50%. Neither figure has been verified by Means & Methods Lab.

What we can't tell you yet
Which tool is better for your work. That needs testing on the same package with a verified answer key. Planned measures for this comparison:
- Field and progress tools are outside the benchmark scope; no test is planned.
- Progress-percentage accuracy against a verified field count of the same areas
- Capture time per site walk, and how often capture must happen to keep progress current
