Civils.ai vs AGTEK
Two ways for site and civil contractors to get quantities out of drawings. Civils.ai is an AI-first service where you upload PDF drawings, type the scope in plain English and get QA-reviewed takeoffs for groundworks, landscaping, utilities and concrete, plus AI issue and discrepancy checks, on published monthly plans. AGTEK, part of Hexagon, is established earthwork takeoff and modeling software (Gradework, Underground, Materials, Highway) that has added Reveal Transform, AI plan prep that rebuilds PDF plan sets into takeoff-ready linework; pricing is through a local sales representative. Desk research from vendor pages read Oct 28, 2026; not tested, no winner.
In short: Civils.ai (Takeoff & document checks; vendor publishes prices) vs AGTEK (Earthwork takeoff; no public prices (quote / sales)). Facts last checked Oct 28, 2026. No winner declared; not tested.

| What it does | AI quantity takeoffs from PDF drawings using plain-English scope prompts (areas, lengths, volumes, counts) plus discrepancy and compliance checks. Covers groundworks, landscaping, utilities, drainage, and concrete. Output is described as human/QA-reviewed. Vendor claims 97%+ accuracy on takeoffs (vendor claim, not verified). Homepage re-read Oct 17, 2026: AI agents are grouped by scope (quantity takeoffs; groundworks, landscaping and geotechnical takeoffs; issue and discrepancy checks). The checks flag issues as critical, high, medium or low risk, cross-check sheets against each other (for example civil vs landscape, architectural vs structural), and can be customized and saved as templates. Uploads can be scanned, historic or multi-sheet PDFs, with an option to extract CAD data; results export to Excel and annotated PDF. The FAQ says a human-in-the-loop QA process reviews all AI-extracted data, workflows aim to return results within 24 hours, accuracy is over 97% on modern PDFs but cannot be guaranteed on hand-drawn or pre-1975 drawings, data is stored on US servers, documents are anonymized and users can delete their data; the site also cites up to 90% less manual effort (vendor claims, not verified). Free cut-and-fill, concrete, rebar and haulage calculators and 32 engineering calculators are listed. The company is Civils.ai PTE LTD, Singapore. Re-checked Oct 19, 2026: homepage and FAQ unchanged in substance (human-in-the-loop QA, over 97% accuracy on modern PDFs, results aimed within 24 hours, US data storage); the site now also cites 200+ firms across 8 countries, and the pricing page cites $3bn+ of projects supported and says uploads are never used to train models (vendor claims, not verified). Re-checked Oct 20, 2026: the homepage still cites 200+ firms across 8 countries, 97% accuracy and up to 90% less takeoff time (vendor claims, not verified) and says there are no setup fees and you can cancel anytime. Where the vendor descriptions differ
- How quantities get made: Civils.ai says you drag and drop drawing PDFs (scanned, historic and multi-sheet drawings included), pick an AI agent, type the takeoff scope (for example paving and landscaping areas shown in a legend), and its QA team reviews the AI's measurements before you see results on an annotated drawing. AGTEK's Gradework is desktop takeoff software that works from PDF, CAD or manual entry, with 3D modeling, cut-and-fill analysis, quantities by phase and structure, and strata and sectional areas extracted by the estimator.
- Where the AI sits: Civils.ai is built around AI agents (quantity takeoffs; groundworks, landscaping and geotechnical takeoffs; issue and discrepancy checks that cross-check sheets such as civil against landscape). AGTEK's AI is in Reveal Transform, which identifies, snaps, joins and aligns linework, classifies plan elements, extracts spot elevations, contour labels and notes as data, georeferences plan sets and exports to Gradework, and in Reveal Clean (AI-assisted point cloud editing) and Reveal Maps (photogrammetry with AI). Civils.ai is tagged AI-first; AGTEK is tagged AI features added to an established product.
- Utilities: AGTEK's Underground, integrated with Gradework, takes off lengths and counts of pipes, laterals, joints, valves and fixtures, analyzes excavation volumes by depth bracket, models trench profiles, finds clashes between pipe classes and exports trench models for machine control. Civils.ai's homepage says its takeoffs cover groundworks, landscaping, utilities, concrete and more, and its agents include groundworks and boreholes.
- Field and machine control: AGTEK lists machine control model export to Leica, Topcon and Trimble, drone data processing for earthwork and materials progress, Trackwork, SmartPlan, SmartDirt and SmartTrack for the field, and a Matrice 4E drone package. The Civils.ai pages read today stop at takeoff and checks, with output edited and downloaded as Excel and annotated PDF, an option to extract CAD data and free estimating and engineering calculators.
- Turnaround and data: Civils.ai's FAQ says processing time varies with the data and it aims to return results within 24 hours, data is stored on servers in the United States and encrypted in transit and at rest, and uploads are never used to train models (vendor statements). AGTEK is installed desktop software with product downloads, hardware requirements, training classes in Livermore and Atlanta, web classes and a community support portal.
- Pricing (checked Oct 28, 2026): Civils.ai Starter is US$90 a month with 10 takeoffs and Professional US$270 a month with 30 takeoffs, both billed monthly, cancel anytime and single user, with takeoffs counted per drawing sheet per trade; Enterprise is custom with volume pricing, annual contracts and SSO/SAML. AGTEK publishes no prices; its site offers an Explain pricing options request and says it connects you with a local sales representative for pricing and licensing. See each tool page for detail.
- Not like-for-like: Civils.ai sells AI-run, human-checked takeoffs and drawing checks per sheet, while AGTEK is a takeoff, 3D modeling and machine-control suite that an estimator runs, with AI used to prepare plans and clean survey data. Which fits depends on whether you want quantities delivered or a modeling tool your team drives.
- Not used here: Civils.ai's accuracy, effort-saved and firm-count figures, ROI slider and customer quotes, and AGTEK's customer stories (vendor material). Neither tool has been tested by Means & Methods Lab.
