AGTEK vs SitesAI Estimate
Two ways to get earthwork quantities from plans. Not like-for-like (our reading): AGTEK, part of Hexagon, is a quote-only heavy construction suite from takeoff through 3D machine-control models and production tracking, with AI plan prep in Reveal Transform; SitesAI Estimate is a browser cut-and-fill takeoff with a free tier, published per-user prices and AI auto-takeoff on its top plan. Desk research from vendor pages read Oct 19, 2026; not tested, no winner.
In short: AGTEK (Earthwork takeoff; no public prices (quote / sales)) vs SitesAI Estimate (Earthwork takeoff; vendor publishes prices). Facts last checked Oct 19, 2026. No winner declared; not tested.

| What it does | Estimating and takeoff software for heavy construction: dirt and material quantities, utility estimates, process modeling and progress measurement. Part of Hexagon. Lists AI-related products including Reveal Transform (AI-powered plan prep that converts PDF plan sheets to takeoff-ready data) and Reveal Clean (AI-assisted point cloud editing). Re-checked Oct 19, 2026: the homepage and products pages still feature Reveal Transform (AI plan prep from PDF sheets) and Reveal Clean (AI-assisted point cloud editing); Underground remains listed for storm, sewer, water and other utility estimates with Gradework. | Browser-based earthworks takeoff and estimating that calculates cut and fill from PDF, DWG or DXF plans, with an AI auto-takeoff plan. You load a PDF, DWG or DXF, calibrate scale, trace work areas and set existing/design levels; it calculates cut and fill, shows 3D terrain for levels and batters, and exports quantities to Excel or PDF. The AI plan adds AI auto-takeoff (draft for human review) and an MCP connector so Claude, Codex or ChatGPT can drive the same tools. Runs at takeoff.sitesai.net with Google or Microsoft sign-in. Re-checked Oct 19, 2026: the estimate page still lists Free (markup and 3D terrain on one sheet, no cut/fill volumes), Pro and AI plans, and states a 30-day money-back guarantee on paid plans and a 14-day free trial of the AI plan with no card (one per account). |
| Who it's for | Heavy civil, earthwork, and site contractors. | Civil and earthmoving contractors pricing cut and fill from plans. |
| Pricing (as publicly stated) | No public prices found (checked Oct 16, 2026; unchanged Oct 19, 2026): the vendor site has no pricing or plans link in its navigation or footer, and /pricing and /plans return a not-found page. The site's calls to action include "Contact us". Confirm current pricing with the vendor. | Free: markup and 3D terrain on one sheet (no cut/fill volume figures). Pro: $39/user/month or $390/year (volumes, unlimited sheets, Excel/PDF export, cloud sync). AI: $99/user/month or $990/year (adds AI auto-takeoff and MCP connector; 14-day free trial of AI plan, no card, one per account). USD. (Checked Oct 15, 2026; unchanged Oct 19, 2026: Free US$0, Pro US$39/user/month or US$390/year, AI US$99/user/month or US$990/year.) |

Where the vendor descriptions differ
- Who each names: AGTEK names chief estimators, project and VDC managers, superintendents and project owners on heavy construction and sitework jobs. SitesAI names civil and earthmoving contractors.
- Takeoff: AGTEK imports PDFs, CAD files and drone imagery and calculates earthwork volumes, material quantities and underground utility quantities (Gradework, Materials, Underground and Highway). SitesAI Estimate opens PDF, DWG (R14 to 2018, converted on its server) and DXF (R12 to 2018, read in the browser) plans; you calibrate the scale, trace the work area and set existing levels (spot levels, contours or a survey DXF) and design levels, and it computes geometric cut and fill, leaving bulking and compaction to your own priced lines.
- Beyond the takeoff: AGTEK builds 3D models that it says integrate with GPS machine control, tracks production with machine tracking and drones (hauls, volume moved, cycle and break times per vehicle in Trackwork, SmartTrack and REVEAL) and reports progress through mobile apps (SmartPlan, SmartDirt) with Google Earth integration. SitesAI Estimate shows the job as 3D terrain to check levels, batters and pads, exports quantities to Excel or PDF, and hands off to the separate SitesAI app for managing the build.
- AI: AGTEK's homepage features Reveal Transform, described as AI-powered automation that converts PDF plan sheets into clean, takeoff-ready data; its product pages also list Reveal Clean for AI-assisted point cloud editing. SitesAI's AI plan adds AI auto-takeoff, which proposes boundaries, areas and counts that are not applied until you accept them (metered as monthly credits), and an MCP connector with 22 tools that lets Claude, Codex or ChatGPT run a takeoff, listed in the MCP Registry as net.sitesai/estimate. Both are tagged AI features added.
- Setup: SitesAI Estimate runs in the browser at takeoff.sitesai.net with Google or Microsoft sign-in and nothing to install; Free saves projects locally and Pro adds Google Drive or OneDrive sync. The AGTEK pages we read do not describe deployment or sign-in.
- Pricing (checked Oct 19, 2026): AGTEK publishes no prices (agtek.com/pricing returns a not-found page; Contact us). SitesAI Estimate lists Free at US$0 (markup and 3D view on one sheet, no volume figures), Pro at US$39 per user per month or US$390 a year, and AI at US$99 per user per month or US$990 a year with a 14-day trial and no card, plus a 30-day money-back guarantee on paid plans.
- Not used here: AGTEK's customer stories and customer counts. Neither tool has been tested by Means & Methods Lab.

Questions to ask in your review
- How each tool's cut and fill compared with a job you had already taken off or built, and how long the takeoff took
- Whether AGTEK's models carried into your machine control and production tracking, and whether you needed that or only the quantities
- How much of SitesAI's AI auto-takeoff or AGTEK's Reveal Transform plan prep you kept after review
- What AGTEK quoted for your seats and modules against SitesAI's per-user prices
- What did you use it for, on what kind of work and project size?
- How long did setup and training take, and who on your team did it?
