| AI role (our label) | Not AI-first | Not AI-first |
| What it does | Asset management for tools, equipment, supplies, consumables and PPE using tags and gateways, with maintenance scheduling. It uses durable asset tags plus inventory gateways (a heavy-equipment GPS gateway that also reads Hilti sensor tags on site, and a vehicle gateway that does remote inventory checks and alerts if items leave a vehicle after hours), coin-sized smart tags that detect when an asset was last used, GPS geo tags for mixers and trailers, maintenance scheduling and service records, safety-certification checks for who is using what, and ON!Track Unite open APIs. Hilti says it is manufacturer-independent, so assets from any brand can be managed, and that it delivers implementation with a productivity analysis, training and support. Two tags are named "AI T320" and "AI T400"; the page does not describe AI features, so we tag it Not AI-first. Re-checked Oct 19, 2026: unchanged in substance; the page also lists proactive low-stock alerts and reports for supplies, tracking connected assets from small drill drivers to 40-ton excavators, and a start process of an onsite consultation and analysis, then setup, training and ongoing support. Still no AI features described beyond the tag model names. | EquipmentShare's T3 technology platform for construction fleet management, with asset trackers, keypads, dash cams and tool tags. It offers asset trackers for equipment and vehicles, a cloud-connected interlocking keypad for access control and operator history, a dual-view (road and driver-facing) dash cam with in-cab visual and audio alerts for follow distance, forward-collision and distracted driving, Bluetooth tags for tools, buckets and attachments, after-hours movement alerts, maintenance tools and utilization reporting, and DOT/OSHA compliance reporting. The page also positions T3 as running EquipmentShare's own rental fleet. It quotes Yates Construction on an estimated 20% jobsite-efficiency improvement (vendor-published customer quote, not verified). The T3 page we read does not describe AI, so we tag it Not AI-first. Re-checked Oct 19, 2026: the T3 page is unchanged in substance: asset trackers (real-time GPS, engine mileage and utilization, geofencing and SMS alerts), the interlocking keypad, the dual-view dash cam and Bluetooth tags, with industry sections for construction fleets, commercial builders, civil contractors, GCs and utilities. Still no AI described. |

Where the vendor descriptions differ
- What each tracks: ON!Track covers tools, equipment, supplies, consumables and PPE, from small drill drivers to heavy equipment, and Hilti says it is manufacturer-independent, so assets from any brand can be managed. T3 is aimed at equipment and vehicles: asset trackers with real-time GPS, engine mileage and utilization, geofencing and SMS alerts, plus Bluetooth tags for tools, buckets and attachments.
- Hardware: ON!Track lists asset tags and gateways, including a heavy-equipment GPS gateway, a vehicle gateway that alerts if items are removed from a vehicle outside working hours, and coin-sized smart tags (models AI T320 and AI T400) that report last known location. T3 lists asset trackers, a cloud-connected interlocking keypad that restricts access and records operator history, and a dash cam with in-cab visual and audio alerts for unsafe driving.
- Beyond location: ON!Track lists maintenance scheduling and service records, safety-certification checks for who uses what, low-stock alerts for supplies, and ON!Track Unite open APIs for linking to your own systems. T3 lists SMS or email alerts for use outside business hours, maintenance and utilization reports, and support for DOT and OSHA inspection needs; EquipmentShare also rents equipment, and the T3 page sits within its rental site.
- AI: neither page we read describes AI features; ON!Track's tag model names include "AI" but the page does not describe AI functions. Both are tagged Not AI-first.
- Getting started: Hilti's page offers a productivity analysis and onsite consultation, then setup, training and ongoing support. The T3 page routes to EquipmentShare's sales contact.
- Pricing (checked Oct 20, 2026): neither vendor publishes prices.
- Not used here: EquipmentShare's customer quote with an efficiency percentage. Neither tool has been tested by Means & Methods Lab.
