AGTEK vs OneCrew

Two tools that both measure paving and site work for a bid but are built for different businesses. AGTEK, part of Hexagon, sells takeoff and modeling software for heavy construction: Gradework earthwork takeoff, Materials, Highway and Underground, with models that feed GPS machine control. OneCrew is an operating platform for asphalt and concrete paving contractors that runs from map-based estimates and branded proposals through scheduling, job costing and invoicing. Not like-for-like (our reading): a quantity and modeling engine for civil bids versus a paving company's sales-to-invoice system; they overlap on measuring areas and turning them into materials. Desk research from vendor sites read Oct 31, 2026; no winner.

What it doesEstimating and takeoff software for heavy construction: dirt and material quantities, utility estimates, process modeling and progress measurement. Part of Hexagon. Takeoff products: Gradework (earthwork takeoff from PDF, CAD or manual data, with models that feed GPS machine control of any brand), Materials (lengths, areas and counts turned into quantities such as tons of asphalt or cubic yards of concrete), Highway (imports DOT survey and design files, partitions the 3D job for traffic-control phasing, interactive mass diagram, borrow, spoil and haul) and Underground (storm, sewer, water and other utility estimates with trench templates, depth brackets and strata, working with Gradework). AI-related products: Reveal Transform (AI-powered plan prep that converts PDF plan sheets to takeoff-ready data), Reveal Clean (AI-assisted point cloud editing that classifies and removes unnecessary elements) and Reveal Maps (photogrammetry with AI). Production tools include Trackwork, SmartPlan, SmartDirt and SmartTrack, plus a DJI Matrice 4E drone package for site mapping; training classes run in Livermore and Atlanta. The homepage promotes a November 17 webinar titled Introducing Reveal Cloud: Your Jobsite, Online; details beyond the title are not on the pages read. The customer-count figure is not used.All-in-one platform for asphalt and concrete paving businesses, from CRM and estimating to crew scheduling, field time tracking and invoicing. Its feature menu covers CRM, mapping, estimates and proposals (configurable automated estimates with interactive maps), drag-and-drop scheduling and dispatch, job site management with time tracking and GPS, real-time job costing, change order management, management automation (approval workflows), a customer portal, real-time analytics, and invoicing with payments and accounting sync. The homepage does not describe AI. Estimating-time and project-volume figures are vendor claims and are not used.

Where the vendor descriptions differ

  • Measuring the job: AGTEK's takeoff page says Gradework works from PDF, CAD or manual data, Highway adds DOT electronic CAD data and mass haul analysis, and Underground covers trench templates, bedding, backfill, spoil and rock strata. OneCrew's estimating page says you draw on monthly satellite images or uploaded blueprints, including cut-outs and irregular shapes, and it calculates area, perimeter and edge measurements (vendor statements).
  • From quantities to price: AGTEK Materials turns lengths, areas and counts into quantities such as tons of asphalt, cubic yards of concrete or linear feet of guardrail, and can send takeoff data to subcontractors. OneCrew converts the drawing into tonnage, materials, trucks and crews, with a Vendor Picker showing distances and rates by vendor, default margins, approval thresholds by user and automatic tax (vendor statements).
  • After the bid: AGTEK says the same model goes to GPS machine control of any brand, and lists Trackwork and SmartTrack for production monitoring and drone surveys. OneCrew sends a branded proposal for e-signature, tracks opens and follow-ups, then moves the signed job to scheduling, job site management, job costing, a customer portal and invoicing (vendor statements).
  • Who each is for: AGTEK lists residential, commercial, critical, transportation and civic infrastructure segments and offers hands-on training classes in Livermore and Atlanta. OneCrew names paving contractors serving everyone from single-property homeowners to multi-site commercial clients.
  • AI (our reading): AGTEK lists AI in its Reveal products (AI-assisted point cloud editing, photogrammetry and AI-powered plan prep); we tag it AI features added. OneCrew's pages describe automation but no AI, so we tag it Not AI-first. The AI comparison is one-sided.
  • Pricing (checked Oct 31, 2026): neither publishes prices. AGTEK's contact form offers Explain pricing options through a local representative; OneCrew's /pricing returns a not-found page and the site offers Book a Demo.
  • Not used here: OneCrew's hours-saved-per-estimator and onboarding-time figures and testimonials, and AGTEK's customer stories (vendor claims). Facts for both tools come from vendor websites (desk research).

Questions to ask in your review

  • Whether OneCrew's map takeoff holds up on DOT or large site work with CAD surfaces, which AGTEK is built for
  • Whether AGTEK quantities can be imported into OneCrew or another paving estimate
  • License or subscription cost for either; both are quote-only
  • What did you use it for, on what kind of work and project size?
  • How long did setup and training take, and who on your team did it?
  • What does it cost you in practice, compared with what the sales call said?
