mJob vs MobiClocks
Two construction time clocks that check who is punching in, by fingerprint and palm vein scans or by face matching. Not like-for-like (our reading): mJob is a field management suite that adds equipment, materials and daily logs, while MobiClocks centers on face-recognition time and attendance with union and certified payroll rules. Vendor pages re-read Oct 18, 2026; desk research, not tested, no winner.

| What it does | Construction time tracking and field app for labor, equipment, materials and field reporting; vendor says it has served construction since 1994. Re-read Oct 18, 2026: it offers a GPS-enabled mobile time clock, fingerprint and touchless palm vein terminals and Bluetooth fingerprint scanners for iPad crew clock-in, geofences with admin rules for when GPS is off (do nothing, warn or block) and alerts for out-of-zone punches, offline punching, time automation and labor law rules, equipment hours and maintenance logs, material usage, field requisitions and purchase orders, daily logs, custom forms and analytics. It lists ERP and payroll integrations including Sage, Vista, Spectrum, QuickBooks, CMiC, ADP, Acumatica, Foundation and Procore, and builds custom integrations in house. The pages we read do not describe AI. | Workforce management with face-recognition time clocks to prevent buddy punching and streamline payroll. The pricing page (read Oct 17, 2026) lists on all plans: facial recognition clock in/out, geofencing and optional GPS breadcrumbing (administrators can turn it on or off), offline punches for remote sites, unlimited free kiosk and personal apps, cost coding, production tracking, subcontractor time tracking, certification tracking, Davis-Bacon certified payroll management, per-diem calculations, advanced union overtime policies, suspicious activity flagging and a GC reporting dashboard (MobiLink). Apps support English, Spanish and French. The pages we read do not describe the face matching as AI, so we keep the Not AI-first tag. Re-read Oct 18, 2026: the homepage says its kiosk and personal apps compare the worker's face with a profile photo on file using facial recognition algorithms, punches are allowed only inside a radial or custom geofence by default (configurable), optional GPS breadcrumbing stops at punch-out, and missed, offline and failed punches are flagged on the dashboard. |

Where the vendor descriptions differ
- Starting point (vendor wording): mJob calls itself construction time tracking and field management software, an all-in-one app for labor, equipment, materials and field reporting, says it has served construction since 1994 and does not sell to retail or restaurants. MobiClocks says it was built for construction by construction executives running projects with large labor forces, and describes itself as workforce management powered by face recognition.
- How identity is checked at the punch: mJob's biometric page lists fingerprint scanners and touchless palm vein readers on wall terminals (one in a NEMA 4X enclosure), plus Bluetooth fingerprint scanners that pair with an iPad so a supervisor can clock in a whole crew; it also offers a GPS-enabled mobile time clock. MobiClocks says it needs no fobs, fingerprints or RFID cards: its kiosk and personal apps compare the worker's face with a profile photo on file,. Both describe offline punching that syncs when the connection returns.
- Location rules: mJob sets a default geofence radius for imported jobs or custom zones for staging areas and yards; if GPS is off or fails, an admin chooses to do nothing, show a warning or block the punch, and out-of-zone punches raise alerts that managers review and release. MobiClocks allows punches only inside a radial or custom geofence by default (configurable), stamps each punch with a location, offers optional GPS breadcrumbing on the personal app that stops at punch-out, and flags missed, offline and failed punches on its dashboard.
- Beyond the clock: mJob lists equipment hours, costs and maintenance logs, material usage, field requisitions and purchase orders, daily logs, custom forms, analytics and document sharing, with ERP and payroll integrations including Sage, Vista, Spectrum, QuickBooks, CMiC, ADP, Acumatica, Foundation and Procore, and custom integrations built by its in-house team. MobiClocks lists cost coding and production tracking, subcontractor time tracking, certification tracking, Davis-Bacon certified payroll, per-diem calculations, union overtime policies, crew management and a GC reporting dashboard (MobiLink), with apps in English, Spanish and French. Neither vendor's pages describe AI, so both stay Not AI-first; MobiClocks says it uses facial recognition algorithms but does not call them AI.
- Pricing: MobiClocks publishes a price, mJob does not. MobiClocks lists Core at $9 per user per month for companies up to about 500 people and Enterprise through sales for 500+ employees (minimum 50 users), with a 30-day free trial; it notes direct payroll integrations may cost extra. mJob's plans page lists Essentials (field time entry, geofencing, labor law compliance, time automation rules, crew management, ERP integrations, offline mode) and Enterprise (adds daily logs, equipment and material tracking, custom ERP integrations, union and prevailing wage compliance, multi-company support and a dedicated implementation team) with no prices, and says it scales from 20 to 2,000 employees. Not used here: either vendor's customer quotes, case studies and savings figures, mJob's support and review badges, and MobiClocks' ghost-employee savings example.

What we can't tell you yet
Which tool is better for your work. That needs testing on the same package with a verified answer key. Planned measures for this comparison:
- Whether your crews and state rules suit fingerprint or palm scans (mJob) or face matching (MobiClocks), and how each stores biometric data
- Whether you need equipment, materials and daily logs in the same system (mJob Enterprise) or a time and payroll tool beside your other field apps
- What mJob costs for your headcount, and which MobiClocks payroll integrations carry extra charges
