LCPtracker vs Lumber

Two ways to handle certified payroll on prevailing wage work. LCPtracker splits into LCPtracker Pro, a project-wide compliance system where agencies and prime contractors collect and review certified payroll from every contractor tier, and LCPcertified, a priced single-contractor reporting tool. Lumber is a construction payroll, HR and field platform whose CPR Agent and other AI agents build and check certified payroll inside Lumber or on top of an existing ERP or HCM.

What it doesCloud software for certified payroll, Davis-Bacon compliance and workforce reporting, plus LCP CaseView for labor-compliance investigations. Re-read Oct 17, 2026: LCPtracker Pro is the project-wide product for public agencies and prime contractors; every contractor on a project submits certified payroll reports electronically, it runs over 100 validations against Davis-Bacon and state and local prevailing wage rules, administrators approve or reject payrolls, and it tracks workforce demographics and IRA prevailing wage and apprenticeship (PW&A) data. LCPcertified is the single-contractor product for subcontractors producing their own reports (over 50 validation checks, XML files for the California DIR, Washington L&I and Maryland portals). Other products listed: Active Insights dashboards, OnSite field wage interviews and Daily Reporter daily logs (both cross-checked against certified payrolls), VantagePoint supplier diversity, Workforce Manager and LCPtracker Academy training. Its Preferred Affiliates page lists payroll providers whose data can be imported, including Paychex, ADP, Foundation, HH2 and Miter. The vendor says LCPtracker Pro holds FedRAMP Moderate Rev 5 Agency Authorization and is SOC 2 Type II and NIST 800-171 compliant (vendor statements). The pages we read do not describe AI in the products; LCPcertified support includes an AI-powered knowledge center. Re-checked Oct 19, 2026: product, security and LCPcertified pages unchanged in substance; the menu now also lists LCP+ (enhanced support, exclusive training and additional resources), the Ignite Conference and Spark Seminars, and an Energy segment under Who We Serve. The security page says FedRAMP requires roughly 320 controls against 80-100 for SOC 2 (vendor statement). Still no AI described in the products. Re-checked Oct 20, 2026: the Pro, LCPcertified, security and Preferred Affiliates pages are unchanged in substance (the affiliates page now summarizes its list as ADP, Paychex, Paycom and 16+ others); still no AI described in the products. The vendor describes it as "Built for Construction. Powered by AI." The site lists AI agents, a free AI audit tool, and a feature that turns collective bargaining agreements (CBAs) into AI insights you can chat with. Re-read Oct 17, 2026: its Agent Center lists individual agents for certified payroll, union, funding, COI, workers' comp and tax notice analysis that it says can run on top of an existing ERP or HCM (Acumatica, Sage, Viewpoint, Procore, Knowify, ServiceTitan, ADP, Workday, COINS) by API or file upload, routing exceptions to a human; its certified payroll page lists WH-347 automation, prevailing wage validation before reports are generated, AI scanning for missing entries or anomalies, and PDF, XML or CSV export for LCP, DIR, eMars and Elation. Lumber says it cuts payroll processing time by 95% and is SOC 2 Type II audited (vendor claims). The site serves region-specific content; the homepage we were served described Canadian payroll. Re-read Oct 18, 2026: the menus list payroll (prevailing wages, union payroll and reporting, certified payroll, workers' compensation, tax filing, remittances, Record of Employment), field operations (time tracking, schedule and dispatch, equipment and productivity tracking, form builder, job costing, safety), HR and benefits (applicant tracking, onboarding, credential management, a learning management system) and agents including a Paper Timecard Agent and a Certificate of Insurance Agent; the agent page says exceptions route to a person when rules conflict or data is incomplete. Re-read Oct 19, 2026: unchanged in substance; the agent page adds that customer data is never used to train third-party AI models. Re-checked Oct 20, 2026: unchanged in substance; the agent page still says customer data is never used to train third-party AI models, that Lumber is SOC 2 Type II audited (vendor statement) and that agents run on top of an existing ERP or HCM by API or CSV. Re-checked Oct 22, 2026: the agent page and certified payroll page are unchanged in substance (CPR Agent; wage determinations applied by location, classification, craft and contract schedule; validation of rates, fringes, overtime, classification and apprentice rates before reports are generated; PDF, XML or CSV export for LCP, DIR, eMars and Elation; exceptions route to a person). The agent page also describes LumberCare, in which CPAs and prevailing wage specialists work alongside the agents. The 95% processing-time line remains a vendor claim and is not used.

Where the vendor descriptions differ

  • Who it serves: LCPtracker Pro is for public agencies, prime contractors and project owners responsible for monitoring every contractor on a project; LCPcertified is for subcontractors, or GCs not managing subs, producing their own reports. Lumber is for contractors running their own payroll, from subcontractors to multi-state contractors.
  • Certified payroll: on LCPtracker Pro every contractor submits certified payroll electronically, and the system runs over 100 validations and mathematical checks against Davis-Bacon and state and local prevailing wage rules for administrators to review. LCPcertified runs over 50 validation checks, imports payroll data (for example from Paychex or HH2) and exports XML for the California DIR, Washington L&I and Maryland portals. Lumber says its CPR Agent applies federal and state wage determinations by location, classification, craft and contract schedule, validates rates, fringes, overtime, classification and apprentice rates before reports are generated, and exports editable PDF, XML or CSV for LCP, DIR, eMars, Elation and other systems.
  • How they meet: Lumber lists LCP among its export targets, so a sub on a project that uses LCPtracker Pro could prepare reports in Lumber and submit them there; LCPtracker's Preferred Affiliates page lists payroll providers such as ADP, Paychex, Paycom and Miter whose data imports into its products, and did not list Lumber in our read.
  • AI: the LCPtracker pages we read do not describe AI in the products (LCPcertified support includes an AI-powered knowledge center), so it is tagged Not AI-first. Lumber is tagged AI-first: its AI scans certified payroll data for missing entries and anomalies, its Agent Center lists agents for certified payroll, union, funding, COI, workers' comp and tax notices with connectors to Acumatica, Sage, Viewpoint, Procore, Knowify, ServiceTitan, ADP, Workday and others, exceptions route to a person when rules conflict or data is incomplete, and LumberCare adds CPAs and prevailing wage specialists.
  • Scope beyond certified payroll: LCPtracker also lists Active Insights dashboards, OnSite field wage interviews, Daily Reporter, LCP CaseView investigations and IRA prevailing wage and apprenticeship tracking. Lumber also covers payroll itself, union reporting, tax filing, time tracking, scheduling, onboarding and credential management.
  • Security (vendor statements): LCPtracker Pro states FedRAMP Moderate Rev 5 Agency Authorization, SOC 2 Type II and NIST 800-171. Lumber states SOC 2 Type II and says customer data is never used to train third-party AI models.
  • Pricing (checked Oct 22, 2026): LCPcertified publishes prices: Plus at $12 per report or by active projects ($145/month for up to 5, $1,300/year for 10, $2,500 for 25, $3,700 for 50, $7,400 for unlimited) and Professional from $1,900/year for 10 active projects to $18,200/year for 450, with unlimited priced by phone. LCPtracker Pro has no public price (/pricing goes to Contact Sales). Lumber publishes no prices (/pricing not found); its agent FAQ says Premium Agents are a flat monthly fee by agent complexity and data volume with bundle discounts, and the homepage shows up to 15% off all modules this holiday season.
  • Not used here: Lumber's 95% processing-time claim, LCPtracker's market-segment security claim, and customer quotes from both (vendor material). Neither tool has been tested by Means & Methods Lab.
