What it doesTime-tracking, scheduling and job-management app for construction and field service, with GPS clock-in, job costing and payroll integrations. Features listed: mobile and web clock in/out, GPS and geofencing, who's-working-now view, drag-and-drop scheduling and draft schedules, time off, job costing, job management, conversations, shift wrap-up and compliance forms, reports, built-in Spanish language support, and payroll/accounting integrations (QuickBooks, Sage 100 Contractor, Xero, ADP and Paychex named). ClockShark Lightning, which its Lightning page describes as AI inside the existing app, has one AI agent, JobReady, which composes a shift brief from the day's schedule, jobs, site notes, checklists and attachments when a crew member opens the app on a scheduled day, plus two standard (non-AI) features: Task Checklists (up to 20 timestamped items that appear at clock-in) and Mileage Tracking (miles entered at clock-out, CSV export; Pro). The vendor says JobReady only produces a brief and never changes a schedule, job or record on its own, that on-clock GPS collection is unchanged, and that customer data is not used to train AI models. The Company menu links an AI Pledge from Simpro Group (Simpro Software, ClockShark, AroFlo and BigChange) with principles on privacy, transparency, fairness, accountability and inclusivity, including not sharing customer data with third parties to train AI models without express permission (vendor statement). Company counts, accuracy claims and testimonials are vendor content and are not used.Workforce management with face-recognition time clocks to prevent buddy punching and streamline payroll. The pricing page lists on all plans: facial recognition clock in/out, geofencing and optional GPS breadcrumbing (administrators can turn it on or off; it stops at punch-out), offline punches for remote sites, unlimited free kiosk and personal apps, customizable clock-in and clock-out attestation, lunch and break policies, drag-and-drop cost coding, production tracking, subcontractor time tracking, certification tracking, Davis-Bacon certified payroll management, per-diem calculations, advanced union overtime policies, suspicious activity flagging and a GC reporting dashboard (MobiLink); the Enterprise plan adds workforce scheduling, a jobsite monitoring dashboard and a resource request and assignment workflow. The homepage says its kiosk and personal apps compare the worker's face with a profile photo on file using facial recognition algorithms, punches are allowed only inside a radial or custom geofence by default (configurable), and missed, offline and failed punches are flagged on the dashboard. Apps support English, Spanish and French. The pages we read do not describe the face matching as AI, so we keep the Not AI-first tag. Customer stories and quotes are not used.

Where the vendor descriptions differ

  • How punches are checked (vendor pages): ClockShark's pricing page lists time and attendance tracking from Android and iOS apps or the website, GPS, geofencing and a map on its plans. MobiClocks lists facial recognition clock in and out on all plans, plus geofencing and GPS breadcrumbing, and its homepage says punches made offline in the Kiosk app are stored until a connection returns.
  • Scheduling and job management: ClockShark lists drag-and-drop scheduling with job and task assignments, time off, job management, job costing, conversations and shift wrap-up and compliance forms. MobiClocks lists cost coding, field production reporting and subcontractor tracking on Core; workforce scheduling and a resource request and assignment workflow are listed on its Enterprise plan.
  • Payroll and compliance: ClockShark's homepage names integrations with QuickBooks, Sage 100 Contractor, Xero, ADP and Paychex. MobiClocks lists Davis-Bacon certified payroll management, certification tracking and customizable union pay policies, and its pricing page notes direct integrations may have additional expense.
  • Where AI fits: ClockShark is tagged AI features added to established product. Its Lightning page describes one AI agent at launch, JobReady, which writes a shift brief from the day's schedule, jobs, notes and checklists; the vendor says a person stays in control of every record. MobiClocks is tagged Not AI-first; its pages describe facial recognition but no AI features.
  • Pricing (checked Oct 30, 2026): ClockShark Standard is $42/month plus $9.50 per user per month and Pro is $63/month plus $11.50 per user per month, in US dollars; the page says a three-year contract term applies to all pricing plans, with a 14-day trial. MobiClocks Core is $9 per user/month, described as for most companies up to 500 people; Enterprise is through sales for 500+ employees with a minimum of 50 users; 30-day free trial. Total cost depends on headcount and term, so compare quotes for your crew size.
  • Mostly like-for-like on the core job (crew time for payroll and job costing). The difference is GPS-based time with scheduling and an AI shift brief on one side, and face-matched punches with union and prevailing-wage payroll features on the other.
  • Not used here: company and user counts, accuracy and #1 claims and customer quotes on either site (vendor material). Facts for both tools come from vendor websites (desk research).
