Construction workforce planning and staffing software in 2026: planning, compliance, presence and access

ROUNDUP · PUBLISHED · UPDATED · SOURCES CHECKED OCT 15, 2026

Contractors do not buy "workforce software" for one job. They buy answers to four different questions: who is free for the next project, who is qualified and documented today, who is actually on this site right now, and who is allowed through the gate. Vendors blur those lines in marketing, but their product pages still sort into planning, day-of dispatch, compliance, presence and access. We read the pages linked below on Oct 14–15, 2026, including five tools already in our directory and five we added in this pass. Desk research from vendor pages, not tested; every figure below is a vendor claim unless we say otherwise. This is not HR, immigration or safety advice.

DESK RESEARCH, NOT TESTED. Figures come from the sources listed below. Vendor and company statements are claims and are not verified by Means & Methods Lab.

Four jobs that get sold as one product

This is our framing, not a vendor claim. Portfolio planning tools ask which people and skills cover the next months of work. Day-of dispatch tools put named crews and machines on today's jobs and capture time. Compliance tools keep orientations, JHAs, tickets and signed acknowledgements current. Presence and access tools answer who crossed the gate, often with badges, turnstiles or wearables. A GC may need all four; a specialty contractor may only need two. Mixing them in one RFP without separating the jobs is how demos look identical and implementations diverge.

Portfolio planning: Bridgit and Procore Resource Planning

Bridgit Bench describes one view of projects, roles and people with job history, skills, certifications, location and availability, plus pipeline modeling for staffing gaps and SMS/email assignment alerts. Bridgit AI answers questions and agents can act on approved recommendations; the vendor says it is trusted by nearly 40% of top contractors (vendor claim).

Procore Resource Planning is the former LaborChart product inside Procore. Its product page lists labor scheduling, rostering, forecasting, certification and skill tracking, labor requests, assignment alerts, and Daily Dispatch with SmartBench AI-ranked worker suggestions by availability, distance, skill and tag. Procore Support says the standalone LaborChart mobile apps are being retired in favor of Resource Planning inside the Procore mobile app. Neither Bridgit nor Procore publishes dollar prices on the pages we read.

Day-of crews and plant: Assignar

Assignar targets civil and specialty contractors that schedule people and equipment together: drag-and-drop allocation, timesheets and dockets from the field, plant prestarts, compliance tickets and expiry alerts, geo-stamped forms, and live job margin against budget. It cites 800+ customers and trades including asphalt, concrete, earthworks, rail, crane and demolition. Its workforce pages describe matching skills to tasks and predicting limited resources. Pricing is custom via demo. The pages we read do not describe generative AI.

Safety compliance on the device: HammerTech and SafetyClerk

HammerTech lists a broad construction safety stack—subcontractor management, orientations, JHAs, SDS, permits, inspections, incidents, daily reports and site access—and promotes HammerTech Intelligence / AI for safety. SafetyClerk focuses on workers reviewing and signing safety documents such as pre-shift reviews on their own devices, with site access, worker and equipment management; it cites 50K+ registered workers and 1.5M+ pre-shift reviews (vendor claims). Our reading: HammerTech is a platform bet; SafetyClerk is a narrow acknowledgment and access workflow. Neither published usable public prices on the pages we relied on.

Presence, wearables and access control: WakeCap, Kwant and Eyrus

WakeCap combines connected hard-hat data (headcount, mustering, timekeeping), equipment location, AI safety cameras and a knowledge graph; case studies name Saudi Aramco, BESIX and NEOM (vendor claims).

Kwant.ai pairs software with hardware: safety orientation, COI and certification tracking, fatigue management, time and attendance, zone analytics, AI reporting, plus facial-recognition access, smart badges and location sensors. It names mission-critical, multifamily, airport, manufacturing and oil & gas projects.

Eyrus is an end-to-end worksite access and workforce system: registration and multilingual inductions, badges, turnstiles, BLE readers, zone permissions, automated timesheets, SMS blasts and headcount/fatigue reports. Pricing is scoped per project (monthly software plus hardware purchase or lease). Our reading: WakeCap leads with connected-worker intelligence, Kwant with AI plus access hardware, Eyrus with gate control and payroll-ready presence.

HR, rotas and SMS field loops: HR Duo and Crewscope

HR Duo's construction solution (UK and Ireland) combines multi-site rotas, geofenced clock-in, employee and subcontractor records, certification and right-to-work checks, digital onboarding, labour-cost views by project, and payroll reporting or in-platform payroll with HMRC/Revenue filings named. It also sells HR templates and support for firms without a full HR department.

Crewscope is SMS-first: push the weekly schedule by text, pull hazards, progress and labor notes by text, and let AI turn that into lookaheads, daily logs, deficiency close-outs and certification reminders—no field app required. It cites SOC 2 Type II and GC/industrial case metrics (vendor claims). Our reading: HR Duo is back-office workforce HR; Crewscope is frontline participation without another login.

Pricing

None of the ten tools in this roundup publishes a simple public price on the pages we used for this article. Assignar, Bridgit, Procore Resource Planning, HammerTech, WakeCap, Kwant, Eyrus, HR Duo and Crewscope route to demos or proposals; SafetyClerk has a pricing page we did not restate dollar figures from. Eyrus is explicit that hardware may be purchased or leased on top of monthly software.

What the pages do not settle

This is our note: vendor pages rarely show how planning recommendations survive a last-minute no-show, how gate data reconciles to certified payroll, or how long a worker waits at the turnstile when credentials are wrong. Accuracy and ROI figures (labor value saved, sanctions avoided, percent of top contractors) are vendor claims without a published test method on those pages.

What to ask before a pilot

These are our suggestions, not findings. Separate the four jobs in the RFP. Ask which system of record owns the person record (HRIS, Procore directory, or the workforce tool). Ask for a dry run of a morning muster or a Friday reassignment with your real trades and certifications. Ask how presence or time data exports to payroll and whether AI suggestions are logged. See our workforce-planning pilot guide for a fuller checklist.
