cmBuilder vs Voyage Control
Two sides of site logistics: drawing the plan and running the gate. cmBuilder is visual planning software for 2D/3D site logistics plans and 4D construction simulations, used to win work and plan jobs before mobilization; Voyage Control runs the live side, from procurement and shipment tracking to booked delivery slots and bookable cranes, hoists, gates and bays. Vendor pages read Oct 21, 2026; desk research, not tested, no winner.

| What it does | Visual construction planning software for winning work and planning jobs with site and logistics plans, 4D and AI image rendering. Re-read Oct 18, 2026: the homepage says it autogenerates the site in context, loads drone scan or survey data for existing conditions, imports the schedule, 3D BIM and 2D drawings, and offers a drag-and-drop library of 3,000+ construction resources, excavation modeling, 2D/3D site logistics plans, 4D simulations, automatic quantities by phase, real-time multiplayer mode and shareable live links and presentations. It names general contractors, concrete subs, steel erectors and other specialty contractors as users. AI Image Rendering is listed on the Premium plan; the pages we read describe no other AI. Re-read Oct 19, 2026: unchanged in substance; AI Image Rendering is still the only AI feature named, on the Premium plan. Re-read Oct 20, 2026: unchanged in substance; AI Image Rendering is still the only AI feature named (Premium plan). The homepage shows a Start for Free call to action beside Book a Demo, but the pages we read do not say what a free account includes. Re-read Oct 21, 2026: unchanged in substance; AI Image Rendering is still the only AI feature named (Premium plan). | Delivery booking and logistics management for construction sites, events venues, facilities and ports, including crane scheduling. It offers pre-booked delivery slots for gates and loading bays with automated confirmations and conflict detection, live visibility of inbound vehicles, crane scheduling and material inventory for construction, supply chain analytics (material throughput, supplier performance, audit-ready reports), and a developer API for ERP, procurement and project management tools. Modules listed include Construction Freight, Hoyst and Cranetime. Vendor states Cyber Essentials and ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certification and a SOC 2 Type 1 attestation (vendor claims). The homepage we read Oct 17, 2026 does not describe AI. Re-read Oct 18, 2026: the Cranetime page describes real-time crane planning, lift scheduling and utilisation reporting for single and multi-crane projects, instant availability search for crane service requests, spot and future scheduling on one display, day-to-day reconfiguration of loading and unloading jobs, and reports on the bottlenecks and delays using crane hours; it calls Cranetime a patented crane management application and does not describe AI (vendor statements). Re-read Oct 19, 2026: the homepage FAQ says Voyage Control has an open developer API and an App Marketplace, naming Procore, Autodesk, Oracle P6, Power BI and Azure AD among existing integrations, and the homepage describes international freight tracked container by container; the certifications are unchanged and the pages still do not describe AI (vendor statements). Re-read Oct 21, 2026: the homepage was rewritten around construction logistics and supply chain, connecting procurement to the site gate: plan and procure (submittals, lead times, required order dates, delivery readiness), track shipments container by container, book deliveries, manage cranes, hoists, gates, bays and forklifts as bookable resources, track materials and assets, and report throughput, dwell time, supplier punctuality and CO2. It says most sites are live within days, with Voyage Control configuring the site map. Industries listed are construction, events, facilities management and cruise terminals. Integrations and certifications are unchanged, and the pages still do not describe AI. Headline counts and case-study savings are vendor figures and not used here. |

Where the vendor descriptions differ
- When each is used: cmBuilder's homepage pitches winning the job and nailing the plan, with site logistics plans and 4D simulations built before construction starts (its pages name GCs, concrete subs, steel erectors and other specialty contractors). Voyage Control's homepage says it connects procurement to the site gate (submittals, lead times, required order dates, international shipments, delivery slots, cranes and hoists) and is used day to day by gate teams, trade partners and suppliers.
- What you build in each: cmBuilder autogenerates the site in context, loads drone scan or survey data for existing conditions, imports the schedule, 3D BIM and 2D drawings, and offers a drag-and-drop library of 3,000+ construction resources, excavation modeling, 4D simulations, automatic quantities by phase, multiplayer mode and shareable live links. Voyage Control's team maps your gates, loading areas, hoists, cranes and bays into the platform with their capacity rules; trade partners and suppliers book slots from a browser or mobile app and your team approves, adjusts or rejects them.
- Cranes: both touch crane planning, differently. cmBuilder's pages describe planning crane picks and lift sequencing visually before mobilization; Voyage Control's Cranetime product does real-time crane planning, lift scheduling and utilisation reporting for single and multi-crane projects, with bottleneck reporting on crane hours. Voyage Control also lists Hoyst (phones as hoist call stations) and Construction Freight (shipment tracking).
- AI (our reading): cmBuilder names one AI feature, AI Image Rendering on its Premium plan, and is tagged AI features added to an established product. Voyage Control's pages do not describe AI, and it is tagged Not AI-first.
- Integrations and security: Voyage Control's FAQ lists an open developer API and App Marketplace with Procore, Autodesk, Oracle P6, Power BI and Azure AD among existing integrations, and states ISO/IEC 27001:2022, SOC 2 Type 1 and Cyber Essentials (vendor statements). cmBuilder lists schedule, BIM, drawing and drone/survey imports and SSO on Premium; the pages we read do not list named integrations.
- Pricing (checked Oct 21, 2026): cmBuilder publishes plans with unlimited users: Standard USD $416/month and Premium USD $816/month, billed annually, each with 5 active projects, Enterprise from 50 active projects via sales, and USD $350/month per pack of 5 more active projects. Voyage Control publishes no prices (Book a demo; /pricing failed with a redirect loop in our read).
- Not like-for-like: a team could plan a site in cmBuilder and run its deliveries in Voyage Control; neither vendor page we read mentions the other. Not used here: cmBuilder's 4.9 rating badge and customer savings quote, and Voyage Control's 25M+ bookings, 100,000+ businesses, $400bn+ project value, customer logos and case-study savings (vendor figures). Neither tool has been tested by Means & Methods Lab.
