Newforma vs Trunk Tools
Two ways to get at RFIs, submittals and the project record. Newforma Konekt is an AEC information management platform that files email from Outlook into a searchable project record and tracks RFIs, submittals and contract changes, with AI Assist listed as coming soon. Trunk Tools is AI built on its Cortex knowledge graph, with agents that draft RFIs inside Procore and Autodesk and summarize submittals for review. Not like-for-like (our reading). Desk research from vendor pages read Oct 26, 2026; not tested, no winner.
In short: Newforma (Project information management; no public prices (quote / sales)) vs Trunk Tools (Document intelligence; no public prices (quote / sales)). Facts last checked Oct 26, 2026. No winner declared; not tested.

| What it does | Project information management for AECO firms that connects project data across existing tools into one project record. It sells Newforma Konekt (cloud) and Newforma Project Center (server-based, on premises). Re-read Oct 18, 2026: Konekt files email from an Outlook add-in into the project record (including as an issue, RFI or submittal), manages RFIs, submittals and contract changes, views 2D and 3D models with issues and punch lists, and indexes content for Deep Search; its packages page lists connectors for Autodesk Forma Data Management, SharePoint, Egnyte, Nasuni, Panzura, Power BI, IMAGINiT Clarity, Procore RFIs and submittals and many BIM tools, plus ISO 27001, SOC 2 and US, Canada or Europe hosting. A May 2026 Newforma blog post says AI Smart Email Filing is deployed today, Smart Search and the Vojo assistant are in development, and MCP servers and bring-your-own-LLM support are being built; the packages page lists AI Assist as coming soon. We changed the label from Not AI-first to AI features added on Oct 18, 2026. Re-read Oct 19, 2026: the Konekt packages page still lists AI Assist as coming soon and now also lists Field Reports as coming soon. Re-checked Oct 20, 2026: the Konekt packages page (Info Track, BIM Track and CA Track) still lists AI Assist and Field Reports as coming soon and also lists a Deltek Vantagepoint connector marked coming soon; the site navigation also lists Newforma ConstructEx, described as cloud-hosted construction management for submittals, RFIs and document management aimed at general contractors. Re-checked Oct 22, 2026: the Konekt packages page still lists AI Assist and Field Reports as coming soon and a Deltek Vantagepoint connector marked coming soon; the Project Center packages page still compares Standard, Contract Management and Enterprise editions by feature. Re-checked Oct 24, 2026: the homepage now links a press release dated Oct 21, 2026 saying Newforma has acquired Lumi AI, a Toronto company whose analytics engine answers plain-language questions about data; Newforma says the engine will first be integrated into its platforms and will extend Vojo, its AI assistant, with smart project dashboards in Newforma Konekt and rollout details to follow. Terms were not disclosed. User and project counts on the homepage are vendor figures and are not used. Re-checked Oct 26, 2026: the homepage still links the Oct 21, 2026 Lumi AI acquisition press release and lists Newforma Konekt, Project Center and ConstructEx. The Konekt packages page still lists AI Assist and Field Reports as coming soon and a Deltek Vantagepoint connector marked coming soon, with Procore connectors for RFIs and submittals and for issues to RFIs. Customer savings figures on the homepage are vendor content and are not used. | AI platform that reads project documents and drawings into a knowledge graph and runs tools for bids, RFIs, submittals, bulletins and SMS Q&A. The platform ("Cortex") plugs into a project's tech stack, reads documents and drawings into a living knowledge graph, and runs tools on top: TrunkBid (maps subcontractor bids against scope and highlights gaps), TrunkRFI (catches RFIs documents already answer and drafts the rest), TrunkRegister (reads a spec book and builds the submittal register), TrunkSubmittal (reviews submittals against the specs and drafts responses), TrunkReview (highlights clouded and unclouded changes from new bulletins), and TrunkText (SMS Q&A with source checks). Vendor says custom AI models are trained on 5+ years of jobsite data, live on 1,000 U.S. projects handling $50B in construction volume, and that teams get in-person jobsite training plus head-office change management (vendor claims). Re-checked Oct 19, 2026: (rendered in headless Chrome) the tool list now adds TrunkBrowse, which identifies and classifies objects on each sheet and links each one to its schedule row, spec section, RFIs, submittals and other sheets, and TrunkChange, which detects a change event when a bulletin or RFI response lands, traces affected trades and drafts the change event and potential change order with a rough-order-of-magnitude estimate by discipline, writing them back to the system of record. TrunkText now answers by text, web or Teams. Headline figures (1,000 U.S. projects, $50B volume) are unchanged vendor claims; the TrunkBrowse page's door-detection comparison against a generic AI model is a vendor claim, not verified. Re-checked Oct 21, 2026: homepage unchanged in substance (Cortex knowledge graph across project documents and drawings, with tools including TrunkText, TrunkSubmittal, TrunkRFI, TrunkReview, TrunkBid, TrunkBrowse, TrunkChange and TrunkRegister; the 1,000-project and $50B figures are unchanged vendor claims). A banner says it is at Groundbreak this week. Re-checked Oct 22, 2026: unchanged in substance; Cortex plus TrunkText, TrunkRFI, TrunkSubmittal, TrunkRegister, TrunkReview, TrunkBid, TrunkBrowse and TrunkChange are still listed, and the Groundbreak banner is still up. Re-read Oct 23, 2026 for a compare: the TrunkBrowse page says it is in beta with general availability in Q4 2026 and recognizes around 400 construction-specific object types; the TrunkChange page says it is planned to launch in Q4 2026; TrunkSubmittal lists Procore and Autodesk integrations plus support for SharePoint, Egnyte, Box or Dropbox, and TrunkRegister pushes to Autodesk via API or exports a Procore-ready CSV. Re-checked Oct 24, 2026: homepage unchanged in substance (Cortex knowledge graph with TrunkText, TrunkSubmittal, TrunkRegister, TrunkReview, TrunkRFI, TrunkBid, TrunkBrowse and TrunkChange in the menu). Customer quotes are vendor material not used here. Re-checked Oct 25, 2026: homepage unchanged in substance (Cortex knowledge graph that reads project documents and drawings, with TrunkText, TrunkSubmittal, TrunkRegister, TrunkReview, TrunkRFI, TrunkBid, TrunkBrowse and TrunkChange in the menu, plus AI Enablement). Project-count, construction-volume and data-history figures and customer quotes are vendor material not used here. Re-read Oct 26, 2026 for a compare: homepage unchanged in substance (Cortex knowledge graph with TrunkText, TrunkSubmittal, TrunkRegister, TrunkReview, TrunkRFI, TrunkBid, TrunkBrowse and TrunkChange; in-person site team training and head-office change management). TrunkRFI watches Procore and Autodesk for draft RFIs and you approve before anything is submitted; TrunkSubmittal publishes a PDF summary to the submittal record in Procore or Autodesk and supports teams on SharePoint, Egnyte, Box or Dropbox. The 1,000-project and $50B figures remain vendor claims. |

Pricing page lists Core and Enterprise plans, each described as "one clear price based off your construction volume," with unlimited seats and no token limits; both are quoted on request. Re-checked Oct 19, 2026: Core and Enterprise unchanged and still quoted by construction volume; the page now also says Trunk Tools does not train on your project data and that Enterprise includes an LMS with AI Foundations and role and product certifications. Re-checked Oct 21, 2026: the page is now headed Simple, transparent pricing but still shows no figures: Core and Enterprise are each one price based on construction volume, both Request a quote. Both list every user included, unlimited usage (the vendor absorbs model cost), site team training and dedicated customer success; Enterprise adds change management training, a custom LMS, forward deployed experts for custom skills and tools, and early access to new products. Re-checked Oct 22, 2026: unchanged (Core and Enterprise, one price based on construction volume, quote on request, unlimited users, no token limits); the page now invites starting on live projects and says results show within two weeks (vendor statement). Re-read Oct 23, 2026: unchanged (Core and Enterprise, each one price based on construction volume, Request a quote; unlimited seats, no token limits, does not train on your project data; SOC 2 Type II listed in the footer). Re-checked Oct 24, 2026: unchanged (Core and Enterprise, each Request a quote; unlimited seats, no token limits, site team training; does not train on your project data). Re-checked Oct 25, 2026: unchanged (Core and Enterprise, each Request a quote; Enterprise adds a custom LMS and forward deployed experts who build custom skills and tools). Re-checked Oct 26, 2026: unchanged (Core and Enterprise, each one price based on construction volume, Request a quote; unlimited seats, no token limits, does not train on your project data; the page says Trunk Tools avoids consumption pricing). |

Where the vendor descriptions differ
- What each sells (vendor wording): Newforma calls Konekt the golden thread of AEC information management and sells it in Info Track, BIM Track and CA Track packages, alongside the on-premises Newforma Project Center and ConstructEx. Trunk Tools sells TrunkText, TrunkSubmittal, TrunkRegister, TrunkReview, TrunkRFI, TrunkBid, TrunkBrowse and TrunkChange on its Cortex knowledge graph.
- RFIs and submittals: Newforma's CA Track lists RFI and submittal management, filing email as an RFI or submittal from its Outlook add-in, and contract change tracking and approvals. Trunk Tools says TrunkRFI watches Procore and Autodesk for draft RFIs and you review and approve before anything is submitted, and TrunkSubmittal publishes a PDF summary to the submittal record.
- Where the record lives: Newforma keeps emails, files, tasks and conversations in its own platform, with Deep Search content indexing, an audit log and 500 GB of storage per seat. Trunk Tools works on documents in the systems you already use, naming Procore and Autodesk plus SharePoint, Egnyte, Box and Dropbox.
- AI: Trunk Tools is AI-first. Newforma's Konekt packages page lists AI Assist as coming soon, and Newforma announced on Oct 21, 2026 that it acquired Lumi AI.
- Connectors: Newforma lists Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Autodesk Forma Data Management, Egnyte, Nasuni, Panzura and Power BI as base connectors, Procore connectors for RFIs and submittals and for issues to RFIs, and BIM authoring connectors including Revit, Civil 3D, Navisworks and Tekla.
- Pricing (checked Oct 26, 2026): neither publishes prices. Newforma's package pages compare features and route to Book a Demo. Trunk Tools offers Core and Enterprise, each one price based on your construction volume via Request a quote, with unlimited seats and no token limits.
- Not used here: Trunk Tools' project-count and construction-value figures, Newforma's customer savings figures, and both vendors' customer quotes (vendor content).

Questions to ask in your review
- Whether you need a structured project record your team files into, AI that works over the systems you already use, or both
- What Newforma's AI Assist and the Lumi AI acquisition will add, and when
- What you actually pay, and on what basis (neither publishes full prices)
- What did you use it for, on what kind of work and project size?
- How long did setup and training take, and who on your team did it?
- What does it cost you in practice, compared with what the sales call said?
