Deltek Specpoint vs RIB SpecLink
The two master-spec platforms most US project manuals start from: Deltek Specpoint delivers AIA MasterSpec content with an AI assistant (Ask Dela); RIB SpecLink (formerly BSD SpecLink) delivers CSI-standard content with linked paragraphs and a SpecLink.AI co-pilot still described as a waitlisted beta. Vendor-published facts only.

| Sheet row | Deltek Specpoint | RIB SpecLink |
|---|---|---|
| Category | Specification writing (AIA MasterSpec) | Specification writing (CSI-standard content) |
| AI role (our label) | AI features added to established product | AI features added to established product |
| What it does | Cloud-based construction specification application for architects, engineers and building product manufacturers. Deltek says it embeds AIA MasterSpec content (authored by licensed A&E professionals and peer-reviewed under the AIA's exclusive partnership with Deltek), updated automatically without manual downloads, plus a product library of 50,000+ listings with Revit integration. AI features described: Ask Dela, an AI orchestrator inside the application that answers specification questions grounded in MasterSpec content, product listings and supporting documents, and Gen AI-powered Smart Reports showing submittal requirements and unresolved product selections. Also lists best-practice smart tagging that applies firm masters, owner standards and preferred products across projects, and SpecText content for infrastructure specs. "80% of the top architectural firms" and "80% of the top engineering firms" use Specpoint (vendor claim; the figures are asterisked on the page and we found no footnote explaining them). Note: masterspec.com redirected to this Specpoint page on Oct 16, 2026. | Cloud-based specification software (formerly BSD SpecLink; bsdspeclink.com now redirects to RIB) built on CSI-standard master content in MasterFormat 2004-2016 and the CSI 3-part SectionFormat, with a single project database, editing by inclusion (select text from a checklist instead of deleting), and intelligent links that automatically include related requirements and exclude contradictory options. Lists Revit synchronization, LEED v4 provisions, 30 built-in reports including lists of required submittals and manufacturers, quarterly content updates, and citations to 3,000+ reference standards audited annually (vendor claims). RIB says customers own the content they create. AI: a separate SpecLink.AI page describes an AI tool for project-data Q&A, quality control with consistent, repeatable specification reviews, and a knowledge hub, built on Azure OpenAI with stated data-privacy terms (prompts and outputs not used to train OpenAI models). That page still says SpecLink.AI is rolling out in a private/closed beta "at the end of 2024 and into 2025" via a waitlist, first as a co-pilot inside SpecLink Cloud and later as a standalone app; we could not confirm general availability. "70% faster" spec editing and "25,000+ construction professionals" are vendor claims. |
| Who it's for | Architecture and engineering firms of any size writing project specifications, and building product manufacturers who want their products in front of specifiers (vendor wording). Contractors mostly meet Specpoint output as the project manual they bid from. | Specification writers and consultants, architects and engineers; RIB says SpecLink.AI is meant for GCs, specialty subs, owners and PMs too. |
| Pricing (as publicly stated) | Not publicly listed (Request a Demo form; a /pricing URL redirected to the product page on Oct 16, 2026). (Checked Oct 16, 2026.) | Not publicly listed (Get My Custom Price form; RIB says pricing depends on organization size and needs, deployable for a single user, on a network or on RIB's cloud servers; free trial and free demo offered). Where the vendor descriptions differ
- Content: Specpoint embeds AIA MasterSpec, updated automatically, plus SpecText for infrastructure. SpecLink uses RIB's own CSI-standard master content in MasterFormat 2004-2016 and SectionFormat, with quarterly updates and 3,000+ reference standard citations (vendor claims).
- Editing model: SpecLink describes editing by inclusion and intelligent links that switch related requirements on and off. Specpoint describes smart tagging that applies firm masters, owner standards and preferred products.
- AI: Specpoint describes Ask Dela answers grounded in MasterSpec and product listings, and Gen AI Smart Reports for submittal requirements and open product selections. RIB's SpecLink.AI page describes Q&A and repeatable spec reviews on Azure OpenAI, but says it is a private beta with a waitlist.
- Products and BIM: Specpoint lists 50,000+ product listings and Revit integration; SpecLink lists Revit synchronization and manufacturer lists in its database.
- Pricing: neither publishes prices. SpecLink offers a free trial and custom pricing by organization size; Specpoint routes to a demo.

What we can't tell you yet
Which tool is better for your work. That needs testing on the same package with a verified answer key. Planned measures for this comparison:
- Time to produce the same project manual from each master
