MeltPlan vs Neuron Factory
Two AI-first preconstruction platforms for general contractors, both Procore Groundbreak 2026 exhibitors, covering similar ground (document review, takeoff and bid packages) from different starting points. MeltPlan sells separate products for bid leveling, document review, takeoff and code research, priced by square footage. Neuron Factory builds a construction knowledge graph across drawings, specs and decisions, with modules for tender review, takeoff, conflict detection and bid packaging. Vendor pages re-checked Oct 19, 2026; desk research, not tested, no winner.
In short: MeltPlan (AI preconstruction; no public prices (quote / sales)) vs Neuron Factory (AI knowledge graph for precon; no public prices (quote / sales)). Facts last checked Oct 19, 2026. No winner declared; not tested.

| What it does | AI-first preconstruction platform for GCs, from concept to GMP: document review, quantity takeoff, scope sheets, bid leveling and code research. Products are Melt Bid (scoping, tabulation and leveling into your own bid tally template, in a web app or Excel plugin, with every value linked to its source proposal), Melt Review (document review and precon reports on hidden costs), Melt Takeoff (AI quantities reviewed by experienced estimators) and Melt Code; its FAQ also names Melt Schedule. It names integrations with Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Box and BuildingConnected, and says customer data is never used to train models. Vendor claims 10x precon output and 95%+ accuracy (vendor claims). Re-checked Oct 19, 2026: unchanged in substance. The site adds a For Developers solution page and lists cost benchmarks among its workflows; its FAQ says Melt Bid reads sub proposals as PDFs, Word files, Excel sheets or emails, most teams start with Melt Bid or Melt Review, and it covers commercial, healthcare, residential and industrial work. On data, it says bid data and cost history are never used to train its or third-party models (stated as contractually guaranteed), each organization's data is isolated and encrypted, and a customer that leaves gets a full export and written confirmation that everything, backups included, was deleted (vendor statements). Customer quotes with hours-saved figures are vendor-published and not used here. | AI-native preconstruction platform on a construction knowledge graph that captures documents, decisions and version changes to surface risks. Re-read Oct 17, 2026: four modules, Bid Graph (tender package risk review, project overviews, clause annotation), Takeoff Graph (computer vision drawing classification, quantity and object takeoff, 2D-to-3D views), Conflict Graph (spec-versus-drawing and cross-discipline conflicts ranked by severity, with a revision audit trail) and Project Graph (trade bid packages mapped to your templates, editable Word scopes of work). It says answers cite source sheets and leave fields blank when confidence is low. SOC 2 Type 1 announced Oct 15, 2026 (vendor statement). Re-checked Oct 19, 2026: platform pages unchanged in substance; the homepage says it field-tests its models with general contractors in North America, Europe and the Middle East, and the security page lists SSO and MFA for internal access, TLS 1.2 or higher in transit, AES-256 at rest and a SOC 2 report available under NDA. The Project Graph page also says its AI compares incoming sub quotes on pricing, coverage, exclusions and terms into leveled estimates, and the Technology page describes 50+ specialized agents, multilingual reading and output, and inheriting each user's access controls on top of existing systems. Note: the homepage footer says SOC 2 Type I Certified, but the security page still says SOC 2 Type I attestation is in progress, so confirm status with the vendor. Homepage performance figures (bid speed, RFI cost, conflict detection) are vendor claims and not used here. |

| Pricing (as publicly stated) | Custom quote / no public prices on pricing page (re-checked Oct 17, 2026). The page says MeltPlan prices on the square footage run through the platform, with a per-square-foot rate that drops at set volume tiers, unlimited users, projects and storage, dedicated onboarding, and bundle pricing across product lines; no rates are shown. Re-checked Oct 19, 2026: still no rates; the FAQ says usage is the square footage of everything you pursue and win, tracked automatically from uploaded plans and specs, with the rate set on actual volume each billing period. | No public prices found (re-checked Oct 17 and Oct 19, 2026; /pricing and /plans return not-found pages): the vendor site has no pricing or plans link in its navigation or footer, and /pricing returns a not-found page. The site's call to action is "Get a Demo". Confirm current pricing with the vendor. |

Where the vendor descriptions differ
- Products: MeltPlan lists Melt Bid (scopes and leveling of sub proposals into your own bid tally template, in a web app or an Excel plugin), Melt Review (plan and spec review, precon reports on items such as sole-source products, testing requirements and mockups), Melt Takeoff and Melt Code (building code research); its FAQ also names Melt Schedule. Neuron Factory lists Bid Graph (tender package risk review and clause annotation), Takeoff Graph, Conflict Graph (spec-versus-drawing and cross-discipline conflicts ranked by severity) and Project Graph (division-by-division sub bid packages, trade-relevant page extraction, Word scopes of work and leveling of incoming quotes).
- Takeoff: MeltPlan says Melt Takeoff quantities are reviewed and adjusted by experienced estimators before delivery, so part of the output is a service. Neuron Factory describes computer-vision drawing classification, a spatial building graph from floor plans for quantity and object takeoff, and 2D-to-3D views; its pages do not describe human review of takeoffs by its own staff.
- Traceability: MeltPlan says every Melt Bid value links to its source proposal. Neuron Factory says answers carry inline citations to source drawings or specs, spell out the reasoning and leave fields blank when confidence is low, with final sign-off left to the human reviewer.
- Data and security: MeltPlan says customer bid data and cost history are never used to train its or third-party models (stated as contractually guaranteed), each organization's data is isolated and encrypted, and leaving customers get a full export and a written deletion confirmation. Neuron Factory lists SSO and MFA for internal access, TLS 1.2+ and AES-256 encryption and a SOC 2 report under NDA; its footer says SOC 2 Type I Certified while its security page says the attestation is in progress, so confirm status with the vendor.
- Systems: MeltPlan names Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Box and BuildingConnected plus its Excel plugin. Neuron Factory says it sits on top of existing systems and inherits each user's access controls; the pages we read did not name specific integrations.
- Pricing (checked Oct 19, 2026): neither publishes rates. MeltPlan prices on the square footage run through the platform (pursued and won), with per-square-foot rates that drop at volume tiers, unlimited users and projects and bundle pricing across products. Neuron Factory has no pricing page (/pricing returns not found) and routes buyers to a demo. Accuracy and speed figures on both sites are vendor claims and are not used here. Neither tool has been tested by Means & Methods Lab.
Paraphrased from the sources listed above. Vendor claims are reported as claims.
What we can't tell you yet
Which tool is better for your work. That needs testing on the same package with a verified answer key. Planned measures for this comparison:
- Results on the same bid set: conflicts found, false positives and missed scope
- What each costs for a given annual square footage or number of pursuits
- Which existing document systems Neuron Factory connects to
