Downtobid vs Procore Bid Management
Two bid management tools for commercial general contractors and the subs they invite. Downtobid is AI-first: it reads uploaded plan sets, detects trade packages, drafts scope notes and sends personalized invitations to bid from the GC's own email, with a separate bid board for subs. Procore Bid Management runs inside the Procore platform: bid packages pull project documents from Procore Project Management, and bids are tracked, leveled side by side and converted into subcontracts or purchase orders that update the Procore budget. Close to like-for-like on inviting and tracking bids (our reading), but Downtobid leads with AI package creation and Procore with connection to the rest of Procore. Desk research from vendor sites read Oct 31, 2026; no winner.
In short: Downtobid (Bid management; vendor publishes prices) vs Procore Bid Management (Bid management & bid leveling; no public prices (quote / sales)). Facts last checked Nov 1, 2026. No winner declared; desk research from vendor sites.

| What it does | Bid management software where AI reads uploaded plan sets, detects trade packages and drafts scope notes for GCs' invitations to bid. GCs send personalized ITBs from their own email, with each sub's scope summary, relevant sheets and the GC's branding, and track coverage; the vendor says nothing goes out without the GC's review. Existing sub lists import by CSV with matching to Downtobid's database and duplicate flags. Subs get a bid board for every invite, deadline and RFI. Dodge Construction Network lists "Bid Board by Downtobid" as part of the Dodge family; Downtobid's own site still sells it. Case-study figures are vendor material not used here. | Bid management inside the Procore platform for bid packages, invitations to bid, bid tracking and side-by-side bid leveling. Bid packages are autopopulated with project info, documents, drawings and specs from Procore Project Management; users send invitations to bid, monitor bid activity from one dashboard with standardized templates and centralized tracking, and compare bids side by side to identify gaps and outliers. Vendor also lists finding and prequalifying trade partners with what it calls subcontractor risk analysis, trade partner performance across projects, and converting bids to subcontracts or purchase orders that update the budget (estimate, bid, contract and financials in one system). Unanet, Docusign, Compass and Sage are named among its integrations. The bid management page does not describe AI features in bid leveling itself; it links to Procore AI (agents) as a separate capability. Review-site ratings and customer quotes are not used. |
| Who it's for | Commercial general contractors and subcontractors. | General contractors and owners running bids, and the subcontractors they invite (vendor says executives, estimators, project teams and invited bidders collaborate in one platform). |
| Pricing (as publicly stated) | Vendor FAQ: starts at $149/month per organization for GCs; for subs, the leads bid board starts at $119/mo and full bid management at $299/mo. Subs can access planrooms and submit bids free. The FAQ also describes per-user pricing while quoting a per-organization starting price, so confirm the billing unit with the vendor. | Not publicly listed. Procore's pricing page asks for an estimate and lists no dollar figures: an upfront annual fee by product based on Annual Construction Volume (the dollar value of construction across your projects), with unlimited users, unlimited data and 24/7 support. It also lists deal structures (multi-year volume pools, up-front pricing for volume added mid-term, renewal rate protection) and says the Field Productivity product is priced by FTE instead. |

Where the vendor descriptions differ
- Building the bid package: Downtobid says its AI reads every sheet of an uploaded PDF plan set, identifies trade packages and drafts scope notes, and that nothing goes out until the GC reviews and edits it. Procore says bid packages are built with project information, documents, drawings and specs pulled in from Procore Project Management, using standardized templates (vendor statements).
- Inviting and tracking: Downtobid says each invite carries the sub's scope summary, relevant sheets and the GC's branding and is sent from the GC's own email, with real-time tracking of who has opened and who is bidding; sub lists import by CSV. Procore says invitations go out with one click and all bid activity is monitored from a single dashboard (vendor statements).
- Leveling and award: Procore lists side-by-side bid comparison with bid leveling to find gaps and outliers, then converting the selected bid into a subcontract or purchase order that updates the Procore Project Financials budget. Downtobid's homepage centres on packages, invitations and coverage tracking for GCs and a bid board for subs; we did not record a bid-leveling feature on the page we read (vendor statements).
- Subs and qualification: Downtobid says subs access planrooms and submit bids free and can upgrade to its Bid Board for tracking and deadlines. Procore says it helps find and prequalify partners from its network and lists what it calls subcontractor risk analysis (vendor statements).
- AI (our reading): Downtobid is tagged AI-first; its AI reads plans and drafts scopes. Procore's bid management page does not describe AI in bid leveling itself and links to Procore AI agents as a separate capability.
- Pricing (checked Oct 31, 2026): Downtobid's FAQ says GC bid management starts at $149 a month for your organization, the sub leads bid board at $119 a month and full sub bid management at $299 a month; the same FAQ also mentions transparent per-user pricing, so confirm the billing unit with the vendor. Procore publishes no figures: it quotes an upfront annual fee by product based on Annual Construction Volume, with unlimited users.
- Not used here: Downtobid's time-to-package, hours-saved and bids-per-package case-study figures and customer quote, its comparison pages against other tools, and Procore's customer stories (vendor material). Facts for both tools come from vendor websites (desk research).
