PlanHub vs BuildingConnected
Two commercial bid networks where general contractors send invitations to bid and subcontractors find and track work. PlanHub is a marketplace that lets GCs post projects free and sells subcontractors flat annual Premier plans by bid radius, with PlanHub AI ranking opportunities and answering questions from plans and specs with links to source pages. Autodesk's BuildingConnected splits into BuildingConnected Pro for GCs and owners, Bid Board Pro for subcontractors and TradeTapp for qualification, each sold by quote, with Autodesk AI features such as a bidder Recommendation Engine. Vendor pages read Oct 21, 2026; desk research, not tested, no winner.

| What it does | Construction bidding marketplace and preconstruction network for finding projects and managing bids, with planrooms and ITBs. It also offers directories, takeoff/estimation, and prequalification. As of Oct 15, 2026 PlanHub calls itself an "AI-Powered Commercial Construction Bidding Platform": it says PlanHub AI ranks opportunities by your trade, service area, activity, and relationships, answers project-specific questions about bid documents with links to source pages, and matches GCs with subcontractors for bid coverage. Vendor network figures (not verified): 56,000+ early-stage and 93,000+ bid-stage projects a year, 58,000+ GCs, 400,000+ subcontractors. Re-checked Oct 19, 2026: (pricing page in headless Chrome) PlanHub AI ranking, document Q&A and GC-sub matching are unchanged; the homepage now also cites 30,000+ suppliers and 500,000+ GCs, subcontractors and suppliers nationwide (vendor figures, not verified). Re-checked Oct 20, 2026: PlanHub AI ranking, document Q&A with links to source pages and AI subcontractor matching for bid coverage are unchanged, as are the network figures (vendor figures, not verified); the homepage also shows a promotion offering a $25 gift card to the first 100 new free users. | Autodesk bid management platform: find and qualify subs, send bid invitations, track responses, and compare bids. Autodesk says AI features are available in BuildingConnected Pro, Bid Board Pro, and TradeTapp, for example a Recommendation Engine that suggests bidders by location, trade expertise, and past performance; Bid Forwarding, which pulls key details from bid invitations received outside BuildingConnected into Bid Board; and TradeTapp Financial Data Extraction, which turns PDF financial statements into structured data. Autodesk notes some of its AI features do not use machine learning, and points to its Trust Center for which features use training data (re-checked Oct 16, 2026). Re-checked Oct 19, 2026: the product page still describes Recommendation Engine, Bid Forwarding and TradeTapp Financial Data Extraction under Autodesk AI, and the pricing page still offers Request a Quote with flexible user, project and account-based pricing. Re-checked Oct 21, 2026: unchanged in substance; the page now carries a banner saying Autodesk Construction Cloud is part of Autodesk Forma and product names have been updated. Flag: the product page says over 1,000,000 construction professionals in one line and 1.5M+ in another, and the pricing page says 1.5+ million builders; we use none of these network counts. |

Where the vendor descriptions differ
- Who each names: PlanHub has separate tools and pricing for general contractors, subcontractors, suppliers and owners and developers. BuildingConnected names general contractors and owners (BuildingConnected Pro) and subcontractors (Bid Board Pro), with TradeTapp for subcontractor qualification; its pages now carry an Autodesk Forma banner after Autodesk Construction Cloud was folded into Forma.

Neither tool has been tested by Means & Methods Lab.
