Pegbo vs Downtobid
Two AI-first tools that help a general contractor get bids from subcontractors: Pegbo leads with sourcing and engaging trade partners (AI coworkers that find subs, run outreach and calls, collect documents and flag risk); Downtobid leads with building bid packages from the plan set and sending personalized ITBs from the GC's own email. Both track bid coverage and both have a sub-side offer. Vendor-published facts only; desk research, not tested, no winner.
In short: Pegbo (AI trade partner bidding; vendor publishes prices) vs Downtobid (Bid management; vendor publishes prices). Facts last checked Oct 17, 2026. No winner declared; not tested.

| What it does | AI "coworkers" for bid and compliance work: find, engage and de-risk trade partners. Vendor cites 1M+ verified trade partners (vendor claim). Re-read Oct 17, 2026: the homepage describes AI coworkers that find subcontractors by scope, location, certifications and union status, build invite lists and run outreach, coordinate pre-bid calls and emails, request and track documents, track bid coverage, and surface license, certification and OSHA risk signals; it lists Procore and BuildingConnected integrations. The pricing page is aimed at trade partners: Free (claim and update a listing, AI project summary and chat, project matches) and Premium via sales. Customer quotes on the homepage were not used. | Bid management software where AI reads uploaded plan sets, detects trade packages, and drafts scope notes; GCs send personalized ITBs from their own email and track coverage. Subs get a bid board for invites, deadlines, and RFIs. Dodge Construction Network now lists "Bid Board by Downtobid" as part of the Dodge family; Downtobid's own site still sells it. Re-read Oct 17, 2026 (rendered in headless Chrome; curl gets a bot check): the homepage says nothing goes out without the GC's review, invites carry each sub's scope summary, relevant sheets and the GC's branding, and sub lists import by CSV with matching to Downtobid's database and duplicate flags; a case study cites 15 minutes vs 2+ hours to build packages and 3.8 vs 1.9 bids per package (vendor case study, not verified). |

| Pricing (as publicly stated) | Free plan plus Premium via "Contact Sales" (pricing page, checked Oct 16, 2026). The comparison table's AI Powered Bid Analysis row says the first project analysis is free and then $8/month; no other figures are listed. Confirm current pricing with the vendor. Re-checked Oct 17, 2026: unchanged; Premium adds a Verified Business badge after Pegbo's team manually verifies licenses and certifications. | Vendor FAQ: starts at $149/month per organization for GCs; for subs, the "leads" bid board starts at $119/mo and full bid management at $299/mo. Subs can access planrooms and submit bids free. Re-checked Oct 17, 2026: unchanged. |

Where the vendor descriptions differ
- Starting point: Downtobid starts from the plans: its AI reads every sheet of an uploaded PDF set, identifies trade packages and drafts scope notes for the GC to review before invites go out. Pegbo starts from the trade partner: it finds subcontractors by scope, location, certifications and union status and builds invite lists.
- What the AI does: Downtobid describes AI package detection and scope notes. Pegbo describes AI coworkers that run outreach, coordinate pre-bid calls and emails, request and track required documents, follow up automatically, and verify trade partners continuously.
- Outreach channel: Downtobid says invites go out from the GC's own email with each sub's scope summary, relevant sheets and the GC's branding. Pegbo says its AI copilot executes emails, calls and follow-ups.
- Sub database and risk: Pegbo cites 1M+ verified trade partners (vendor claim) and shows license and certification status, OSHA violations and other risk indicators. Downtobid imports your sub list by CSV, matches it to its database and flags duplicates; the pages we read do not describe risk screening.
- Integrations: Pegbo lists Procore and BuildingConnected. Downtobid positions itself as an alternative to BuildingConnected, iSqFt, PlanHub and SmartBid; we did not record named integrations on its homepage.
- Sub side: Downtobid says subs access planrooms and submit bids free and can upgrade to Bid Board (leads from $119 per month, full bid management from $299 per month). Pegbo's pricing page is aimed at trade partners: a Free plan (listing, AI project summary and chat, project matches) and Premium via sales, with AI bid analysis free for the first project and then $8 per month.
- Claims (vendor statements, not verified): Downtobid's case study cites 15 minutes vs 2+ hours to build packages and 3.8 vs 1.9 bids per package. Pegbo cites 1M+ verified trade partners.
- GC pricing: Downtobid starts at $149 per month per organization. Pegbo does not list a GC price; its site offers Start For Free and Book a Demo.

What we can't tell you yet
Which tool is better for your work. That needs testing on the same package with a verified answer key. Planned measures for this comparison:
- Bid coverage per package on the same project with each tool
- How many detected packages or scope notes an estimator has to fix on a real plan set
- How Pegbo's outreach calls and emails appear to subs (sender, frequency, opt-out)
See the methodology and leaderboard status.
