DESTINI Estimator vs Zebel
Two estimating platforms for general contractors' precon teams that build on cost history, with AI in different places. DESTINI Estimator (Beck Technology) puts AI at takeoff: it detects, counts and measures drawing information into reviewable quantities that feed connected estimates, with bid leveling in DESTINI Bid Day. Zebel's team builds a cost database from your past projects, and its AI Oversight reviews finished estimates for scope gaps, outliers and formula errors. Vendor pages read Oct 22, 2026; desk research, not tested, no winner.
In short: DESTINI Estimator (Beck Technology) (Estimating & takeoff; no public prices (quote / sales)) vs Zebel (Precon cost estimating; no public prices (quote / sales)). Facts last checked Oct 22, 2026. No winner declared; not tested.

Re-checked Oct 19, 2026: the product page still lists AI-powered takeoff with reviewable quantities, connected estimating, centralized cost history, BIM insights, DESTINI Bid Day leveling, multi-user workflows and an audit trail; the site navigation lists integrations with Autodesk, Join, Power BI, Procore, Eos and Cortex. Re-checked Oct 20, 2026: product page unchanged in substance (AI-assisted takeoff with reviewable quantities, connected estimating, centralized cost history, BIM and model-based insights, DESTINI Bid Day leveling, dashboards, multi-user workflows, audit trail and permissions); the navigation still lists Autodesk, Join, Power BI, Procore, Eos and Cortex integrations. Re-checked Oct 22, 2026: product page unchanged in substance (AI-assisted takeoff with reviewable quantities, connected estimating, centralized cost history, BIM and model-based insights, DESTINI Bid Day leveling, dashboards, multi-user workflows, audit trail and permissions); the navigation now leads with DESTINI Cloud, which Beck describes as the connected preconstruction system of record (DESTINI Estimator, Takeoff and Bid Day), lists Autodesk, Join, Power BI, Procore and Eos Cortex integrations, and has comparison pages for replacing Excel, Ediphi, Sage, WinEst, ProEst and CostOS (not read). | Estimating platform covering concept to GMP, structured historical cost data, and "AI Oversight" to catch estimate mistakes. Re-read Oct 17, 2026: its team builds a cost database from your past estimates and finished projects (cleanup, takeoffs and setup; about a month per its FAQ), with Procore Financials actuals, your own cost codes and anonymized market data. Parametric conceptual budgets become detailed estimates with sub bid leveling and GRs and GCs. AI Oversight checks estimates against your history for scope gaps, overlaps, unit cost outliers, formula errors and escalation rates. Integrations listed: Procore, Togal.AI and BuildingConnected. Re-checked Oct 19, 2026: the pricing page now lists what every plan includes: historical and market databases, comparison reports and AI variance analysis; conceptual and detailed estimating, GRs and GCs, value engineering and AI estimate QC; a subcontractor directory, bid leveling, bid analytics and AI bid review; precon pipeline, progress tracking, workforce planning and overhead exposure; onboarding, ongoing support, an account manager and email and chat support; and SSO, MFA and API access. Re-checked Oct 21, 2026: homepage and pricing page unchanged in substance (same included-in-every-plan list; integrations Procore, Togal.AI and BuildingConnected; PreconConcierge onboarding). Re-checked Oct 22, 2026: homepage, pricing, AI Oversight and FAQ pages unchanged in substance (cost database built by Zebel's team from your past estimates in about a month; your own cost codes and WBS; parametric conceptual budgets into detailed estimates with sub bid leveling and GRs/GCs; an AI Oversight library covering estimate completeness, cost code consistency, formula integrity, escalation rates, unit cost reasonableness, scope gaps, bid leveling and buyout coverage, plus custom agents). Customer quotes not used. |
| Who it's for | Preconstruction and estimating teams (reviews quoted from directors of preconstruction and senior estimators). | Preconstruction teams. |
| Pricing (as publicly stated) | No public prices (checked Oct 16, 2026): Beck Technology's pricing page is a "Get Pricing" form that asks the size of your precon team (1-7, 8-15, 16-25, 26+) to customize a demo; no figures. Unchanged Oct 19, 2026; the form's second step asks which estimating tools you use now (Excel, MC2, Sage, CostOS, STACK, Zebel, WinEst, ProEst or other). Confirm current pricing with the vendor. Re-checked Oct 20, 2026: unchanged (the same two-step Get Pricing form, precon team size then current estimating tools; no figures). Re-checked Oct 22, 2026: unchanged (the same two-step Get Pricing form, precon team size then current estimating tools; no figures). | Custom quote / no public prices on pricing page (re-checked Oct 17 and Oct 19, 2026). The page says plans are based on annual construction volume, with unlimited users and unlimited estimates, no per-user pricing and every module included; its PreconConcierge onboarding covers data cleanup, database setup and quantity takeoffs. Re-checked Oct 21, 2026: unchanged (Contact Sales; volume-based pricing with unlimited users and estimates). Re-checked Oct 22, 2026: unchanged (pricing by annual construction volume; unlimited users and estimates; no per-user pricing; no figures). |

Where the vendor descriptions differ
- Where the AI sits: Beck describes AI-assisted takeoff that detects, counts, measures and organizes drawing information into reviewable quantities that connect into the estimate. Zebel's AI Oversight checks an estimate after it is built, against your own cost database and past projects: estimate completeness with a readiness score, cost code consistency, formula integrity, escalation rates against market data, unit cost reasonableness, scope gaps, bid leveling and buyout coverage, plus custom agents. Zebel's pages do not describe AI takeoff; it lists a Togal.AI integration, and its team does takeoffs as part of onboarding.
- Cost history: DESTINI describes centralized cost history used to benchmark future work and validate assumptions across teams, offices and project types. Zebel says you send it past estimates and finished-project data and its team cleans up cost codes, does takeoffs, sets up the account and uploads the data, typically in about a month, combining your history with anonymized market data; you can keep your own cost codes and WBS.
- Estimates and bid day: DESTINI lists connected estimating (quantities, cost history, assemblies, labor, materials, fees, alternates and assumptions), BIM and model-based insights, dashboards, multi-user estimates, an audit trail and permissions, with side-by-side subcontractor bid leveling in DESTINI Bid Day. Zebel describes parametric conceptual budgets from historical unit costs that become detailed estimates, sub bid leveling pushed into the estimate, GRs and GCs built from schedule, salaries and team, value engineering, and a precon pipeline with workforce planning.
- Integrations and platform: Beck's navigation lists Autodesk, Join, Power BI, Procore and Eos Cortex integrations and describes DESTINI Cloud as a connected preconstruction system of record. Zebel lists Procore, Togal.AI and BuildingConnected, says it is fully browser-based, and lists SSO, MFA and API access in every plan. Beck's pricing form names Zebel among the estimating tools a buyer may be using now.
- Pricing (checked Oct 22, 2026): neither publishes figures. Beck's Get Pricing form asks your precon team size (1-7, 8-15, 16-25, 26+) and current estimating tools to customize a demo. Zebel prices by annual construction volume, with unlimited users and unlimited estimates and no per-user pricing.
- Not used here: Beck's 10X-faster and estimates-in-half-the-time claims and its reviews, and Zebel's customer quotes and case-study claims (vendor material). Neither tool has been tested by Means & Methods Lab.
