Ediphi vs Zebel
Two cloud preconstruction estimating platforms built on your own cost history. Ediphi pairs cost modeling and estimating with GCs and GRs, contracting and a live Excel add-in; Zebel's team builds your cost database for you and adds AI Oversight checks on estimates. Desk research from vendor pages read Oct 23, 2026; not tested, no winner.
In short: Ediphi (Cloud estimating & cost modeling; no public prices (quote / sales)) vs Zebel (Precon cost estimating; no public prices (quote / sales)). Facts last checked Oct 23, 2026. No winner declared; not tested.

| What it does | Cloud preconstruction platform for cost modeling, estimating, GCs & GRs, and contracting, from bid packages and bid leveling to buyout. Estimating uses templates and programmatic automation, and bid packages are built from estimates. Unit Price Catalog builds historical cost data from your estimates; open API and an Excel add-in for owner bid forms and reports. The homepage does not describe AI features (its blog discusses AI and cost tracking), so we tag it Not AI-first. Customer quotes include a 1,900% ROI figure from Suffolk (customer claim, not verified). Ediphi's blog announced a native integration with Togal.AI that maps Togal takeoff quantities to Ediphi estimate line items and notifies estimators when quantities change, naming Stevens Construction as the first live customer, ahead of its debut at Advancing Preconstruction in May 2026. Re-checked Oct 21, 2026: homepage unchanged in substance (cost modeling, estimating, GCs & GRs and contracting; Unit Price Catalog; open API and Excel add-in) and still does not describe AI; the navigation adds Ediphi for JVs and Ediphi for Universities (marked new), and blog posts announce SOC 2 Type II compliance (Sep 23, 2026), a Project Grid View (Sep 30, 2026) and Export to Estimate from a cost model (Jul 20, 2026). The Suffolk quote now cites $20 million more revenue per estimator alongside the 1,900% ROI figure (customer claims, not verified, not used). Re-checked Oct 22, 2026: homepage unchanged in substance (cost modeling, estimating, GCs & GRs and contracting; Unit Price Catalog; open API and Excel add-in; Togal.AI integration post still listed); the homepage still does not describe AI features, though recent blog titles discuss preconstruction AI and cost decision intelligence. Re-checked Oct 23, 2026: the menu now lists Cost Modeling, Estimating, GCGRs, Contracting, Last Mile, Unit Price Catalog, Value Management (tracking costs from budget to GMP, milestone by milestone) and Integrations, plus comparison pages against DESTINI, WinEst, Sage Timberline and ProEst. The integrations page lists the Last Mile Excel add-in (cells bound to live estimate values, Mac and PC, desktop and web), Bridgit (GCGR roles and dates feeding workforce plans), the native Togal.AI integration (quantities mapped to the Unit Price Catalog with WBS), Trimble On-Screen Takeoff .OST import, and CRMs such as Unanet via APIs. Customer quotes and figures not used. | Estimating platform covering concept to GMP, structured historical cost data, and "AI Oversight" to catch estimate mistakes. Re-read Oct 17, 2026: its team builds a cost database from your past estimates and finished projects (cleanup, takeoffs and setup; about a month per its FAQ), with Procore Financials actuals, your own cost codes and anonymized market data. Parametric conceptual budgets become detailed estimates with sub bid leveling and GRs and GCs. AI Oversight checks estimates against your history for scope gaps, overlaps, unit cost outliers, formula errors and escalation rates. Integrations listed: Procore, Togal.AI and BuildingConnected. Re-checked Oct 19, 2026: the pricing page now lists what every plan includes: historical and market databases, comparison reports and AI variance analysis; conceptual and detailed estimating, GRs and GCs, value engineering and AI estimate QC; a subcontractor directory, bid leveling, bid analytics and AI bid review; precon pipeline, progress tracking, workforce planning and overhead exposure; onboarding, ongoing support, an account manager and email and chat support; and SSO, MFA and API access. Re-checked Oct 21, 2026: homepage and pricing page unchanged in substance (same included-in-every-plan list; integrations Procore, Togal.AI and BuildingConnected; PreconConcierge onboarding). Re-checked Oct 22, 2026: homepage, pricing, AI Oversight and FAQ pages unchanged in substance (cost database built by Zebel's team from your past estimates in about a month; your own cost codes and WBS; parametric conceptual budgets into detailed estimates with sub bid leveling and GRs/GCs; an AI Oversight library covering estimate completeness, cost code consistency, formula integrity, escalation rates, unit cost reasonableness, scope gaps, bid leveling and buyout coverage, plus custom agents). Customer quotes not used. Re-checked Oct 23, 2026: homepage, pricing and AI Oversight pages unchanged in substance (team-built cost database; parametric conceptual budgets into detailed estimates; AI Oversight checks; integrations Procore, Togal.AI and BuildingConnected). Case-study quote not used. |
| Who it's for | General contractors' preconstruction and estimating teams (customers quoted include Hensel Phelps, DPR, and Suffolk). | Preconstruction teams. |
| Pricing (as publicly stated) | No public prices found (checked Oct 16 and Oct 19, 2026): the vendor site has no pricing link in its navigation (its "Unit Price Catalog" link is a content page, not Ediphi prices), and /pricing and /plans return a not-found page. The site's calls to action include "Get a demo". Confirm current pricing with the vendor. Re-checked Oct 21, 2026: unchanged (no pricing link; Get a Demo). Re-checked Oct 22, 2026: unchanged (no pricing link; /pricing still returns not found; Get a Demo). Re-checked Oct 23, 2026: unchanged (/pricing returns not found; Get a Demo only). | Custom quote / no public prices on pricing page (re-checked Oct 17 and Oct 19, 2026). The page says plans are based on annual construction volume, with unlimited users and unlimited estimates, no per-user pricing and every module included; its PreconConcierge onboarding covers data cleanup, database setup and quantity takeoffs. Re-checked Oct 21, 2026: unchanged (Contact Sales; volume-based pricing with unlimited users and estimates). Re-checked Oct 22, 2026: unchanged (pricing by annual construction volume; unlimited users and estimates; no per-user pricing; no figures). Re-checked Oct 23, 2026: unchanged (pricing by annual construction volume; unlimited users and estimates; no per-user pricing; Contact Sales; no figures). |

Where the vendor descriptions differ
- Cost history: Ediphi builds historical cost data from your own estimates through its cost modeling database and Unit Price Catalog. Zebel says its team cleans up your past estimates and finished projects and builds a structured cost database for you (about a month per its FAQ), with your own cost codes and WBS, Procore Financials actuals and anonymized market data.
- Estimate to bid: Ediphi covers cost modeling, conceptual and detailed estimating, GCs and GRs, contracting (bid packages, bid leveling and buyout) and value management from budget to GMP. Zebel covers parametric conceptual budgets that become detailed estimates, sub bid leveling, GRs and GCs, value engineering, bid analytics and a precon pipeline.
- AI: Zebel's AI Oversight checks an estimate against your history for scope gaps, overlaps, unit cost outliers, formula errors and escalation rates, and its pricing page lists AI variance analysis, AI estimate QC and AI bid review. The Ediphi pages we read describe no AI features of its own; AI takeoff comes through its native Togal.AI integration, which maps quantities to the Unit Price Catalog.
- Integrations: Ediphi lists the Last Mile Excel add-in (cells bound to live estimate values, for owner bid forms and reports), Togal.AI, Bridgit workforce planning fed by GCGR roles and dates, Trimble On-Screen Takeoff .OST import, CRMs such as Unanet, and an open API. Zebel lists Procore, Togal.AI and BuildingConnected, plus SSO, MFA and API access.
- Pricing (checked Oct 23, 2026): neither publishes figures. Zebel prices by annual construction volume with unlimited users and estimates, no per-user pricing, every module included and PreconConcierge onboarding (data cleanup, database setup and quantity takeoffs). Ediphi has no pricing page (/pricing returns not found); its call to action is Get a Demo.
- Not used here: Ediphi's customer quotes (including ROI and revenue-per-estimator figures) and Zebel's case-study quote are vendor content and not used. We have not tested either tool.

Questions to ask in your review
- How long each takes to load and clean up your own estimate history
- How many real estimate errors Zebel's AI Oversight catches versus false flags
- What either costs for your annual volume or team size
- What did you use it for, on what kind of work and project size?
- How long did setup and training take, and who on your team did it?
- What does it cost you in practice, compared with what the sales call said?
