Provision vs Pelles AI
Two AI tools that read bid documents for preconstruction teams, aimed at different sides of the job. Provision sells a Chat Agent for cited answers, a Scope Agent for scopes of work and scope gaps, and Risk Review for contract and spec risk, priced per project from $50. Pelles AI is built for mechanical, electrical, plumbing and specialty trade contractors, with Pelles Core for cited answers, checks and reports across project documents and Pelles Build for apps and agents a team describes in plain words, with no public prices. Not like-for-like. Vendor pages read Oct 29, 2026; desk research, not tested, no winner.
In short: Provision (Contract & document review; vendor publishes prices) vs Pelles AI (AI platform for trade contractors; no public prices (quote / sales)). Facts last checked Oct 29, 2026. No winner declared; not tested.

| What it does | AI preconstruction platform with a Chat Agent for cited document answers, a Scope Agent for scopes of work, and Risk Review for contract risk. The Chat Agent gives source-cited answers from drawings, specs, contracts, RFIs, and addenda; the Scope Agent writes scopes of work and finds scope gaps; Risk Review is automated contract analysis that flags risky clauses, missing scope, and commercial exposures with citations, severity levels, default-position comparison, and RFI/redline generation. Vendor claims 95% verified accuracy, that it can read up to 100,000 pages, and that it is SOC 2 Type II certified (vendor claims, not verified). Homepage cites 66,000+ documents processed, 1M+ risks identified, and 50,000+ queries answered. Risk Review page (read Oct 16, 2026) now describes contract review and spec review bundled in one product: spec requirements surfaced and organized, requirements traced across specs, drawings and contracts, cross-document conflict detection, conflicting or unclear requirements flagged before bid day, and unlimited custom checklists (vendor descriptions). Site banner says Scope Agent is now generally available. Its YC profile (read Oct 18, 2026) now describes Provision as building the AI Estimator for construction, identifying risks and obligations in contracts, specs and drawings. Y Combinator batch: Summer 2022 (YC company profile). Re-read Oct 19, 2026: homepage and pricing page unchanged in substance; the pricing page now also cites $100B+ in project value reviewed and claims 95-99% accuracy (vendor claims, not verified). Re-checked Oct 21, 2026: homepage and pricing page unchanged in substance (Chat Agent, Scope Agent and Risk Review; source citations; reads up to 100,000 pages per project). The pages also cite 95% verified accuracy, 95-99% accuracy against about 60% for generic AI, a 4.7-star G2 rating and a feature table against Trunk Tools, LegalOn and general chatbots; these are vendor claims and are not used here. Re-checked Oct 22, 2026: unchanged in substance; the homepage still describes Chat Agent, Scope Agent and Risk Review, now with a results section citing figures from Provision case studies (savings, 2x faster pursuits, risks found) and named customer quotes; these, the 95% accuracy line and the platform-wide totals are vendor claims and not used here. Re-checked Oct 23, 2026: homepage and pricing page unchanged in substance (Chat Agent, Risk Review and Scope Agent sold per project); the homepage adds a link to grade a scope of work first. Review-site rating, accuracy percentage and case-study figures remain vendor content not used here. Re-checked Oct 24, 2026: homepage unchanged (Chat Agent, Scope Agent now generally available, Risk Review for drawings, specs and contracts, with source citations); the G2 rating, accuracy figure and document counters are vendor claims not used here. Re-checked Oct 25, 2026: homepage, pricing, Scope Agent and Risk Review pages unchanged in substance (Chat Agent with source-cited answers across drawings, specs, contracts, RFIs and addenda; Scope Agent, generally available, returning trade-organized scope packages as Word and Excel files with each item traced to its source; Risk Review combining contract review, spec review and cross-document conflict detection with severity levels, RFI and redline generation and custom checklists). The G2 rating, accuracy and speed percentages, document and risk counters, case-study figures and quotes are vendor claims not used here; the pricing page's competitor comparison table is the vendor's own and is not repeated. Re-checked Oct 26, 2026: homepage and pricing page unchanged in substance (Chat Agent with source-cited answers across drawings, specs, contracts, RFIs and addenda; Scope Agent, generally available; Risk Review with contract and spec review and cross-document conflict detection; SOC 2 Type II stated). The G2 rating, accuracy and speed percentages, counters and quotes are vendor claims not used here; the vendor's competitor table is not repeated. Re-checked Oct 29, 2026: homepage and pricing page unchanged in substance (Chat Agent with source-cited answers across drawings, specs, contracts, RFIs and addenda, reading up to 100,000 pages per project; Scope Agent, generally available, for scope gaps and standardized scope packages; Risk Review with risk severity levels, default positions, RFI and redline generation and custom checklists; SOC 2 Type II stated). The G2 rating, accuracy percentages, case-study results, counters and quotes are vendor material not used here; the vendor's competitor table is not repeated. | AI platform that turns a trade contractor's documents and workflows into AI tools for estimating, contract review, operations and closeout. Vendor cites 3,000+ projects, 85,000+ issues caught, and 100+ hours saved per project as of August 2026 (vendor claims, not verified). Re-checked Oct 19, 2026: the site now leads with "Own your software" and describes Pelles Core (plug and play), custom apps built on the contractor's own process, multi-step automations, agent-to-agent service connections and source-linked reports; it also runs a BuildAI Academy for learning AI in construction. The project, issue and hours figures are unchanged and still dated August 2026. Customer testimonials with time-savings percentages are not repeated here. Re-checked Oct 21, 2026: the navigation now lists Core and Workshop. The homepage describes two paths: Pelles Core, ready-to-use AI with DoubleCheck (search codes, specs and drawings), Create (draft deliverables in the team's voice) and Compare (catch changes between revisions); and the Pelles Workshop, where Pelles builds, deploys and runs custom apps and AI agents around the contractor's own workflows. The project, issue and hours counters (still dated August 2026) and customer testimonials are not repeated here. Re-checked Oct 22, 2026: the FAQ now describes three product lines: Pelles Core as four ready-to-run applications (DoubleCheck, Compare, Workflows and Organization Agents), Pelles Workshop for custom AI agents and apps built around the contractor's workflows, and Pelles Agents, pre-built AI specialists that connect to Procore, Autodesk and the rest of the construction stack, which the FAQ says are in early access. Now build the AI to run it.), and the navigation lists Pelles Core and Pelles Build in place of Workshop. Pelles Build turns a workflow described in plain words into an app, and the vendor says the code behind your apps is yours; Pelles Core lists cited answers, deep research, revision compare and checklists. Agents can be texted, messaged in Teams or emailed and draft RFIs or changes for review; apps connect to Procore, Autodesk, Trimble, ERPs, Excel, files and email. The security list now includes SOC 2 Type II attested, AWS hosting, SSO and roles, permission-aware retrieval and isolation per project (vendor statements). Page and task counters, hours-saved estimates and testimonials are not used. Where the vendor descriptions differ
- Who each names: Provision's menus name general contractors and subcontractors, and its pages are written for pursuit, estimating and preconstruction teams. Pelles says it is for mechanical, electrical, plumbing and specialty trade contractors, with teams usually starting in estimating and preconstruction and then expanding to project management, service and back office.
- Document answers: Provision's Chat Agent gives source-cited answers from drawings, specs, contracts, RFIs and addenda and says it can read up to 100,000 pages. Pelles Core gives cited answers across every project document and says it keeps to the current revision, with DoubleCheck, Compare, Reports and checklists.
- Scope and risk: Provision's Scope Agent writes scopes of work and finds scope gaps, and Risk Review flags contract and spec risks with severity levels, comparison to your default positions, RFI and redline generation and custom checklists. Pelles describes RFI lists and contradiction reports from drawings, specs and contracts, and always-on agents that draft RFIs for review over Teams, text or email; it says it is not a takeoff tool, with Count & Measure in beta for checking counts against a schedule.
- Building your own: Pelles Build lets a team describe a workflow and have Pelles build an app or background agent on the same platform, and says the code is the customer's. Provision's pages describe its three agents and do not offer a builder.
- Where it runs and security: Pelles lists web, mobile, Teams, Outlook, Excel, text and MCP access, integrations with Procore, ACC, Trimble and ERPs, models from Gemini, Claude and GPT, SOC 2 Type II attestation, SSO/SAML, MFA, an audit log, AWS hosting and no training on customer content. Provision states SOC 2 Type II certification.
- Pricing (read Oct 29, 2026): Provision lists Chat Agent from $50, Risk Review from $100 and Scope Agent from $500 per project, with the Chat Agent included free with Scope Agent or Risk Review, no per-seat fees, and platform and volume pricing through sales. Pelles publishes no prices; its FAQ says it is priced by team or company with unlimited usage and no per-token or usage-based billing, and it offers a 30-minute demo on a real project.
- Not used here: Provision's accuracy percentages, ratings, case-study results and counters, and Pelles's project counts, time-savings figures and customer quotes (vendor claims). Neither tool has been tested by Means & Methods Lab.
