Avetta vs HammerTech

Two ways a hiring contractor or owner checks that subcontractors are safe and compliant. Avetta is a cross-industry contractor and supplier network where hiring clients set requirements, suppliers pay for client-connected plans and Avetta's auditors and specialists verify documents; HammerTech is a construction safety platform run by the general contractor across its own jobsites, covering subcontractor records, orientations, JHAs, permits and incidents, free for subcontractors. Neither publishes prices. Desk research from vendor pages read Oct 23, 2026; not tested, no winner.

What it doesCross-industry contractor and supplier risk management network for prequalification, safety audits and ongoing compliance. Hiring clients set requirements and contractors and suppliers join to get qualified and stay compliant. Prequalification page lists collecting, reviewing and monitoring safety performance, audits, certifications and documents; one platform for health and safety, financial viability, diversity qualifications, workforce risk and liability; safety audits where auditors work with the contractor to close gaps; requirements tailored to local rules by in-house specialists; analytics at contractor, subcontractor and worker level; Tōtika (New Zealand) accredited prequalification; and FMCSA motor carrier data. Site navigation also lists insurance verification, business financial risk, contractor cybersecurity risk, subcontractor management, worker management, field safety and ESG modules. AI page describes AskAva (vendor calls it the industry's first generative AI risk assistant) for job hazard analyses, safety inspections and incident investigations; AI that extracts data from uploaded contractor and supplier forms and flags missing or inaccurate information before submission; an AI co-pilot that assists Avetta's own auditors; and AI plus OCR in worker-document review by its compliance staff. Counters of 360,000+ businesses in 120+ countries and a network of 130,000+ prequalified contractors, and plan-page outcome figures (30% fewer incidents, up to 3x ROI and similar), are vendor claims. Not construction-specific: construction is one of several industries in its content. Re-checked Oct 19, 2026: the homepage, prequalification, AI and plans pages still show the same features and counters; the plans page now lists, for the no-connection Directory plan, a searchable company profile, Member Value Hub, Find Projects (U.S. and Canada only), Avetta University, company benchmarks and Safety Advisor (U.S. only; listed as OSHA-trained AI guidance). Re-checked Oct 20, 2026: the homepage, prequalification, AI and plans pages are unchanged in substance (same features and counters, AskAva, Safety Advisor U.S. only, Find Projects U.S. and Canada only). The plans page describes the Vetify add-on as a dedicated compliance specialist with a tailored compliance roadmap, insurance policy collection and renewal reminders with coverage gap review, expert review of variance requests and safety documents, and bi-weekly account summaries. Re-checked Oct 22, 2026: homepage, prequalification, AI and plans pages unchanged in substance (the same counters, AskAva, AI form extraction, the auditor co-pilot, and AI plus OCR in worker-document review; Safety Advisor U.S. only and Find Projects U.S. and Canada only). The client menu now also lists Transport Safety, a Safety Maturity Index, a Cultural Maturity Index and Contractor Sourcing (not read), and the plans page lists Profile Optimization Support and essential business verification on the Standard supplier plan. Plan-page savings and outcome figures and customer quotes still not used.Construction safety platform for subcontractor management, worker orientations, safety plans, permits, inspections, incidents and site access. Modules listed cover subcontractor management, worker orientations, JHAs, SDS, safety plans, pre-task plans, permits, safety meetings, logistics, equipment compliance, inspections, observations, incidents, daily reports, and site access. Lists HammerTech Intelligence and promotes AI for safety. Vendor says it was built by former safety professionals; PCL is featured as a customer. Re-read Oct 18, 2026: the HammerTech Intelligence page says AI is embedded in SDS autofill, pre-task plan meeting capture, observation photo recognition and site diary summaries, drafts summaries and reports inside the workflow, and keeps every output transparent and editable, with people making the safety decisions. Its integrations page lists HammerTech Sync for Procore (projects, subcontractors and locations in; labor hours and worker counts out to the Procore Daily Log), Autodesk project and subcontractor sync, CMiC and Sage Intacct, facial recognition turnstiles, Eyrus, Kwant, Acumatica, LUMA1 and an open API. Re-read Oct 19, 2026: the Intelligence page lists the same four workflows and says the AI is trained on safety process context such as permits, hazards and inductions (vendor claim); the pricing page says HammerTech is built for commercial and infrastructure contractors managing multiple job sites. Re-checked Oct 21, 2026: homepage unchanged in substance (one safety platform for inductions, pre-starts, incidents and reporting; no per-seat fees; HammerTech Intelligence surfaces risks and automates safety reporting). Customer counts and quotes are vendor content and not used.

Pricing (as publicly stated)Not publicly listed. Plans page says pricing is customized. Supplier plans: Directory (no client connections), then client-connected Standard, Plus (adds insurance and injury/illness verification) and Advanced (adds a supplier safety compliance audit), priced by number of client connections and project or trade risk level, plus a Vetify expedited compliance add-on; client pricing reflects qualification needs, industries and regions. No dollar figures published. (Checked Oct 16, 2026; unchanged Oct 19 and Oct 20, 2026. Per-plan savings figures on the plans page are vendor claims and are not repeated here.) Re-checked Oct 22, 2026: unchanged (pricing customized; Directory, Standard, Plus and Advanced supplier plans priced by client connections and project or trade risk level; Vetify add-on; no dollar figures). Re-checked Oct 23, 2026: unchanged (pricing customized; Directory, Standard, Plus and Advanced supplier plans priced by number of client connections and project or trade risk level; Vetify expedited-compliance add-on; client pricing by qualification needs, industries and regions; no dollar figures). No paid prices listed (checked Oct 16, 2026; re-checked Oct 18 and Oct 19, 2026). The pricing page says HammerTech does not use per-user pricing (unlimited users); pricing is based on the scale and complexity of your operations, including annual construction volume and the number of active job sites, company size and the level of onboarding and support required, and all core workflows are included rather than sold as modules (implementation, onboarding, training, support, integrations and security included). Its FAQ says HammerTech is free for subcontractors, with access provided by the general contractor managing the project. The page says it is not the right fit for very small teams, single projects or basic checklists. GC pricing is tailored ("Get Pricing Details"). Confirm current pricing with the vendor. Re-checked Oct 21, 2026: still no prices. The pricing page now lists three factors: annual construction volume, company size and operational complexity, and level of onboarding and support required; the number of active job sites is no longer named. Unlimited users, all-in-one pricing (not modules) and the not-the-right-fit list are unchanged; the FAQ answers did not expand in our read. Re-checked Oct 22, 2026: unchanged (no dollar prices; priced on three factors with unlimited users; the FAQ names annual construction volume and the number of active job sites; free for subcontractors). Re-checked Oct 23, 2026: still no prices (no per-user pricing; priced on annual construction volume, active job sites, company size and operational complexity and the level of onboarding and support; all core workflows included; free for subcontractors with access provided by the GC).

Where the vendor descriptions differ

  • Where the check happens: Avetta's prequalification page describes collecting, reviewing and monitoring contractors' safety performance, audits, certifications and documents in one place, with auditors who work with the contractor to close gaps, requirements tailored to local rules by in-house specialists, Tōtika (New Zealand) accredited prequalification and FMCSA motor carrier data; it also points hiring clients to its network of prequalified contractors. HammerTech's subcontractor management page tracks each sub's active projects, insurance and safety documents, expiry dates and any prequalification questions the GC adds, with self-service portals where subs add workers and upload certificates; its FAQ says it automates subcontractor prequalification, JHAs and site orientations.
  • Jobsite scope: HammerTech's modules run past prequalification into daily site safety: worker orientations (workers without a login can complete them and submit observations by QR code), JHAs, pre-task plans, permits, inspections, observations, incidents and site access, with a Procore integration. Avetta's pages centre on qualifying and monitoring the supply chain (safety audits, insurance and injury/illness verification, worker training verification, business risk scoring) rather than running the jobsite day to day.
  • AI: Avetta's AI page says its AI extracts data from uploaded contractor and supplier forms and flags missing or inaccurate information before submission, its compliance staff review worker records with AI and OCR help, and AskAva, a generative AI risk assistant, supports JHAs, safety inspections and incident investigations. HammerTech says HammerTech Intelligence surfaces risks and automates safety reporting.
  • Who pays (checked Oct 23, 2026): Avetta says pricing is customized; suppliers move from a free-to-list Directory profile to client-connected Standard, Plus (adds insurance and injury/illness verification) or Advanced (adds a supplier safety compliance audit) plans priced by number of client connections and project or trade risk level, with a Vetify expedited-compliance add-on, while client pricing reflects qualification needs, industries and regions. HammerTech is free for subcontractors (the GC provides access), has no per-user pricing, and prices GCs on annual construction volume, active job sites, company size and the level of onboarding, with implementation, training, support and integrations included. No dollar figures on either site.
  • Fit: HammerTech says it is built for commercial and infrastructure contractors managing multiple job sites and is not the right fit for very small teams, single projects or basic checklists. Avetta serves hiring clients across industries and the suppliers that must qualify for them. Avetta's savings, incident and ROI figures and network counts, and HammerTech's customer, project and worker counts and customer quotes, are vendor claims and are not used here.

  • What a subcontractor pays in total when one client uses Avetta and another uses HammerTech
  • Whether a GC using HammerTech's prequalification questions still needs a third-party network for owner-mandated vetting
  • How each verifies insurance documents beyond expiry tracking
  • What did you use it for, on what kind of work and project size?
  • How long did setup and training take, and who on your team did it?
  • What does it cost you in practice, compared with what the sales call said?
