BlueTape vs Earlytrade
Two routes to faster cash for subs: BlueTape sells third-party credit and factoring; Earlytrade runs GC-funded early payment. Not like-for-like: the money comes from different places and a different party signs up. Vendor-published facts only, from pages read Oct 17, 2026; desk research, not tested, no winner.
In short: BlueTape (Trade credit & invoice financing; no public prices (quote / sales)) vs Earlytrade (Early payment for subcontractors; no public prices (quote / sales)). Facts last checked Oct 17, 2026. No winner declared; not tested.

| What it does | Accounts receivable and construction financing platform: suppliers offer contractors net 30, 60 or 90 terms and are paid upfront, with trade credit, factoring, an early payment program, a payment portal, a credit management tool and e-commerce integration. Contractors and subs can fund material purchases with lines of credit, and the marketplace lists supplier promotions such as 0% and no payment for 30 days. Vendor claims it lowers DSO to 1 day and cites 6,000+ customers (vendor claims). The homepage does not describe AI. Re-read Oct 17, 2026: the homepage now describes BlueTape as an accounts-receivable solution that helps construction businesses access cash tied up in receivables, and lists an Early Payment Program alongside trade credit, factoring, a payment portal, credit management and e-commerce integration. Its Early Payment Program page pitches contractors and developers paying vendors, subcontractors and suppliers promptly, without describing how the program is funded or priced. Its subcontractor page lists project-based lines of credit for building materials ("Build Now, Pay Later") for US-based government, infrastructure, commercial and residential subcontractors, invoice factoring with next-day payments, and a payment portal for ACH and card payments. None of these pages describes AI. | Early-payment negotiation for GCs and subs: subs request early payment, and GCs earn a return on their cash. Vendor claims subs get paid 28 days early on average and returns of 4-5x money market rates (vendor claims). Re-read Oct 17, 2026 (through a text reader; direct requests got a bot-check page): the homepage says commercial GCs with significant subcontractor spend use Earlytrade for 4-5x money market returns and can increase margin by 12%, and that subs requesting early payment get paid 28 days early on average (vendor claims). Its subcontractor page says subs see invoice statuses and estimated payment dates, choose invoice by invoice whether to request early payment and set their own discount offer rates, keep submitting invoices the same way, pay nothing to use the portal beyond the discount they choose, and put up no security; the homepage says GCs keep control of their cash and payments. The pages we read do not describe AI. |
| Who it's for | Lumber and building-material suppliers, and the contractors and subcontractors who buy from them. | Commercial general contractors and their trade partners. |
| Pricing (as publicly stated) | No public prices found (checked Oct 16, 2026): the vendor site has no pricing or plans link in its navigation or footer, and /pricing and /plans return a not-found page. The site's calls to action include "Get started" and "Contact sales". Confirm current pricing with the vendor. Earlier note (Oct 15, 2026): financing terms set per customer; sign-up and sales contact offered. Re-checked Oct 17, 2026: still no prices; the Early Payment Program page says terms are transparent with no hidden fees (vendor statement), without figures. | No public prices found (checked Oct 16, 2026): earlytrade.com/pricing shows "The page can't be found" and the navigation has no pricing link; the site offers "Request Demo". Confirm current pricing with the vendor. Re-checked Oct 17, 2026: no GC pricing published; the subcontractor page says the portal is free for subs and the only cost to a sub is the discount it chooses to offer (vendor statement). |

Where the vendor descriptions differ
- Scope (our reading of their pages, not a vendor claim): BlueTape is a construction financing and accounts-receivable platform. It pays suppliers upfront when they offer contractors net 30, 60 or 90 terms, and it offers factoring and lines of credit. Earlytrade runs an early-payment program that a general contractor launches: subcontractors ask for approved invoices to be paid early, the GC pays from its own cash, and the sub accepts a discount. Both get a subcontractor paid sooner. They differ on who provides the money and who signs up.
- Who signs up: BlueTape's navigation lists LBM suppliers, manufacturers, dealers, contractors, government contractors, subcontractors and modular home builders. Earlytrade says commercial GCs with significant subcontractor spend launch the program, and their trade partners join through a subcontractor portal.
- What a subcontractor gets: BlueTape's subcontractor page lists project-based lines of credit for building materials ("Build Now, Pay Later") for US-based government, infrastructure, commercial and residential subs, invoice factoring with next-day payments, and a payment portal for ACH and card payments. Earlytrade's subcontractor page lists visibility into invoice statuses and estimated payment dates, and the option to request early payment invoice by invoice at a discount rate the sub sets. It says nothing changes in how invoices are submitted.
- Cost to the subcontractor (vendor statements): Earlytrade says its subcontractor portal is free and the only cost is the discount a sub chooses to offer, with no security required. BlueTape publishes no rates. Its Early Payment Program page says terms are transparent with no hidden fees, and its marketplace shows supplier promotions such as 0% and no payment for 30 days.
- General contractor side: Earlytrade pitches GCs a return on their cash, claiming 4-5x money market returns and a 12% margin increase (vendor claims, not verified), and says GCs keep control of their cash and payments. BlueTape's Early Payment Program page pitches contractors and developers who want to pay vendors, subcontractors and suppliers promptly, but the page we read does not say who funds those payments or how they are priced.
- Claims (vendor statements, not verified): Earlytrade says subs that request early payment are paid 28 days early on average. BlueTape says suppliers can lower DSO to 1 day and increase sales by 30%, and cites 6,000+ customers.
- AI: neither vendor's pages describe AI, and both are tagged Not AI-first in our directory. They are included because they sit in the same construction payment flow as the AI billing, AP and lending tools we cover.
- Pricing: neither publishes prices. BlueTape sets terms per customer and routes to sign-up or sales. earlytrade.com/pricing returned a not-found page on Oct 16, 2026, and the site offers a demo. On Oct 17, 2026 Earlytrade's pages returned a bot-check page to our direct requests, so we read them through a text reader.
Paraphrased from the sources listed above. Vendor claims are reported as claims.
What we can't tell you yet
Which tool is better for your work. That needs testing on the same package with a verified answer key. Planned measures for this comparison:
- Effective annualized cost to a sub of an early payment or credit line at the discounts or rates actually offered
- How each handles retainage, back charges, disputed or partially approved invoices
- Effect on lien waiver timing and joint check arrangements
