Where the vendor descriptions differ
- Card: Finvari issues physical and virtual cards, including virtual cards for one-time or recurring payments; its footer says the Finvari card is issued by Sutton Bank under a Mastercard license. Speedchain's FAQ describes a Mastercard World Elite commercial card with physical and virtual cards; its footer says the Speedchain Credit Mastercard is issued by Community Federal Savings Bank.
- Receipts and coding: Speedchain says a cardholder gets a text after each purchase, sends a receipt photo, and its AI Receipt Agent suggests the vendor, amount and job code for a one-tap approval; its expense pages list coding by GL code, project, cost code, cost type and vendor. Finvari captures receipts by mobile photo or email forward, lists using AI to auto-categorize expenses and chat in the app, and describes custom fields mapped to the ERP by expense type (hotel, airline, fuel, general).
- Spend controls: Finvari describes individual or role-based profiles with daily, weekly or monthly limits, merchant-category restrictions and pump-only fuel permissions. Speedchain describes region and merchant-category limits, monthly and per-transaction maximums, card lockouts, and unapproved vendors or amounts stopped at the counter.
- Invoices and payments: Finvari's AP invoice automation page describes an invoice inbox, header and line-item extraction, coding suggestions, validation against ERP data (duplicate, older and unusual-amount invoices, invalid job or accounting data) and approvals from the mobile app. Speedchain's Bill Pay page describes paying suppliers by card, ACH or check, multiple approval layers with routing rules, and a supplier team that looks for suppliers likely to accept card; the Speedchain pages we read do not describe invoice data extraction.
- Fuel: Speedchain describes fuel-card features on its card (vehicle ID, odometer reading, gallons and price per gallon entered in the app) and an elevated rebate at 19,000+ participating stations (vendor claim). Finvari lists pump-only fuel permissions and fuel as an expense type.
- ERP integrations: Finvari's AP page names Viewpoint Vista and Spectrum, CMiC, Sage 300 CRE, Sage 100 Contractor, Sage Intacct, Foundation, Acumatica, COINS, Computer Guidance/eCMS, ComputerEase and Plexxis. Speedchain's integrations page lists Sage 300 CRE, QuickBooks Online and Desktop, Sage Intacct, Acumatica, Viewpoint Spectrum and Viewpoint Vista, and describes syncing project names and job codes from the ERP or PM system.
- Other features: Finvari lists multi-factor authentication, single sign-on and biometric / Face ID, plus alerts for overdue or incorrect expenses. Speedchain lists budget alerts and an English or Spanish interface for cardholders.
- AI in our directory: Speedchain is labeled AI features added to an established product (the AI Receipt Agent). Finvari is labeled Not AI-first: its homepage mentions AI once, as a bullet about auto-categorizing expenses.
- Claims (vendor statements, not verified): Finvari cites 40k+ construction employees using it, contractors in 46 states and integration with all leading construction ERPs. Speedchain calls itself a global leader in commercial card programs for construction and cites 19,000+ participating fuel stations.
- Pricing: both say the platform is free. Finvari's pricing page says no annual fees, monthly subscriptions or per-user fees. Speedchain's FAQ says it is free-to-use, and its footer says additional fees may include late-payment fees or other services not outlined in the cardholder agreement. Neither page we read says how the vendor is paid; ask (our suggestion).
Paraphrased from the sources listed above. Vendor claims are reported as claims.
What we can't tell you yet
Which tool is better for your work. That needs testing on the same package with a verified answer key. Planned measures for this comparison:
- Share of a month's field receipts that arrive coded to the right job and cost code without AP follow-up in each tool
- How each syncs card transactions (and, for Finvari, approved invoices) into your exact ERP version, on-premise or cloud
- Credit limits, underwriting, rewards and fees in each cardholder agreement
