| What it does | Sage's construction suite from accounting to operations (including Sage Intacct Construction); homepage promotes a Sage + Procore offer. Vendor says 50,000+ companies use it (vendor claim). Re-read Oct 17, 2026: the page groups the suite into preconstruction (estimates, document management, bid management, AI-powered takeoff, lead management), finance (accounting, reporting, compliance, job costing with POs and AIA-style billing, payroll, automated WIP), operations (project management, mobile access, service operations for HVAC, MEP and specialty contractors, integrations, property management) and HR + payroll; the takeoff line is the only AI mention, and it also claims 48% of ENR top contractors use its software (vendor claim). | Construction accounting software (STRUCTUREcloud, plus STRUCTURE Mobile) for commercial contractors: executive center, document management, project management, procurement, payroll posted to job costs, job cost and billing, and work orders. The homepage does not describe AI features. Re-read Oct 17, 2026: the accounting page lists job cost and billing, AR, AP posted to job cost and the general ledger, a multi-company general ledger, payroll and the Executive Center; procurement adds purchase orders and inventory (truck and flooring roll inventory); STRUCTUREcloud is described as the STRUCTURE software hosted by Microsoft on a Windows Virtual Desktop license, sold by subscription with user and mobile licenses (TimeLinc, TechLinc, ChangeLinc); the integrations page names MeasureSquare, Callidus, SafeHarbor, SpecIntel, SiteFotos, Kojo, AvidXchange, ADP, TradeService and ServiceTitan, mostly as file imports. |

Where the vendor descriptions differ
- Accounting core: Sage's construction page lists accounting, budgeting and financial management, real-time reporting, compliance documentation, job costing with purchase orders and AIA-style billing, construction payroll and automated work-in-progress (WIP) reporting. C/F Data Systems' accounting page lists job cost and billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable that posts purchases to job cost and the general ledger automatically, a general ledger with multi-period, department, division and multi-company accounts, payroll, and an Executive Center for company financials.
- Payroll and workforce: Sage lists HR management (recruiting, onboarding), time and labor, workforce insights, construction payroll and labor-law compliance. C/F Data Systems says its payroll handles multiple pay types, job classifications and pay scales, different tax rates by location and agency compliance reports, and that STRUCTUREcloud includes payroll tax-table and government form updates (W-2, 1099). Its integrations page also describes sending a payroll file through a third-party processor to ADP.
- Purchasing and field: Sage lists project, resource and subcontractor management, mobile access to project data, purchase orders and time entry, and service operations for HVAC, MEP and specialty contractors. C/F Data Systems lists purchase orders, inventory control, truck inventory tied to its Work Orders module, roll inventory for flooring contractors, project management, workforce scheduling, and STRUCTURE Mobile apps (TimeLinc, TechLinc and ChangeLinc licenses are part of STRUCTUREcloud).
- Beyond accounting: Sage also lists preconstruction (estimates tied to job cost codes, bid management, document management, lead management and takeoff) and property management (lease, tenant and rent tracking), and promotes a Sage + Procore offer. C/F Data Systems' pages stay on contractor accounting and operations; its estimating link-ups run through integrations.
- Integrations as described: Sage says it syncs with common construction software and cites the largest partner network in the industry (vendor claim) without listing partners on the page. C/F Data Systems names MeasureSquare, Callidus, SafeHarbor and SpecIntel (estimates into its Quote and Proposal Entry), SiteFotos (photos from its project module), Kojo (purchase-order import), AvidXchange (payables import), TradeService (material data) and ServiceTitan (receivables import); the page describes most of these as spreadsheet or file imports rather than live sync.
- Deployment: Sage's page describes an end-to-end suite of cloud construction software and offers a self-led tour of Sage Intacct Construction behind a short form. C/F Data Systems describes STRUCTUREcloud as its STRUCTURE software hosted by Microsoft (virus protection, backup, network security) and run through a Windows Virtual Desktop license, sold as a subscription with lower upfront costs than on-premise software (vendor statement); Microsoft Office 365 licenses are not included.
- AI: the only AI on Sage's construction page is a preconstruction line, "AI-powered takeoff tools bridge seamlessly into estimates"; it does not describe AI in accounting or payroll, so our directory keeps it Not AI-first. C/F Data Systems' pages we read do not describe AI features.
- Claims (vendor statements, not verified): Sage says it has more than 50 years of construction experience going back to Timberline, that over 50,000 companies use its construction software, that 48% of ENR top contractors and 53% of the BD&C Giants top 115 contractor firms use it, and that it is the #1 provider of accounting and estimating solutions according to JB Knowledge. C/F Data Systems says it has served the construction industry for more than 45 years, with support based in Weymouth, MA.
- Pricing: neither publishes prices. Sage's page shows a "Request pricing" call to action, a phone number and a brochure for a Sage Construction Essentials package it describes as cost-conscious for growing construction companies; its FAQ lists the question "How much does Sage construction software cost?" but the answer did not display in our read. C/F Data Systems says STRUCTUREcloud is a subscription with one or more user and mobile licenses and modules selected at the time of sale, with no price list; its call to action is a free demo.
Paraphrased from the sources listed above. Vendor claims are reported as claims.
What we can't tell you yet
Which tool is better for your work. That needs testing on the same package with a verified answer key. Planned measures for this comparison:
- Total first-year cost for the same company size, module set and number of payroll employees
- Time to close a month and produce WIP from the same job set in each
- Which integrations sync live versus by file import, and who maintains them
