eSUB vs Siteline
Two tools built for commercial subcontractors that overlap on change orders and billing. Not like-for-like (our reading): eSUB is project management for trade contractors (daily reports, T&M tickets, change orders, RFIs, submittals, job costing); Siteline is billing software that builds pay apps on each GC's own forms and handles lien waivers, compliance and collections. Desk research from vendor pages read Oct 20, 2026; not tested, no winner.
In short: eSUB (Subcontractor PM, T&M & change orders; no public prices (quote / sales)) vs Siteline (Pay apps & billing; no public prices (quote / sales)). Facts last checked Oct 20, 2026. No winner declared; not tested.

| What it does | Cloud and mobile project management platform built for commercial subcontractors, with daily reports, T&M tickets, change orders and billing. Trades named include electrical, HVAC, concrete, mechanical, masonry, plumbing and structural steel. Lists daily reports, time and materials (T&M) tickets with customer signatures captured on a tablet or phone and tied to change orders, change order tracking with lump-sum or category-based quotes and line items, custom access permissions, progress billing, purchase orders, job costing, RFIs, submittals, field notes, drawings and document control, plus a QuickBooks Online integration. Also promotes Fusion by eSUB, a connected jobsite tool linking field staff to the back office and GCs. Homepage cites 29% productivity, 47% less rework and 25% more change order revenue based on a 2023 survey of its customers (vendor claims). The pages we read do not describe AI features. Re-checked Oct 19, 2026: the homepage is unchanged in substance (Fusion by eSUB, the QuickBooks Online integration and the 2023 customer-survey figures); still no AI described. Re-checked Oct 20, 2026: the homepage is unchanged in substance (Fusion by eSUB, the QuickBooks Online integration and the 2023 customer-survey figures; still no AI described). The T&M page also describes a centralized log of ticket status, total costs and related change orders across projects, photo and document attachments, and tickets that sync to the office. | Billing software for subcontractors that builds pay apps on each GC's exact forms and tracks compliance documents, change orders and lien waivers. It also covers lien waiver generation and collection, A/R reporting, cash-flow forecasts, collections, and lien rights deadlines. Integrates with accounting systems and GC payment portals. Vendor says it has digitized 23,000+ forms from 17,000+ GCs and cites getting paid 3 weeks faster (vendor claims). The homepage does not describe AI, so we tag it Not AI-first; its pricing page (re-checked Oct 16, 2026) does list "AI vendor waiver validation for incorrect forms, amounts, or dates" as a feature of the Siteline Suite and of its vendor-compliance package. Re-read Oct 16, 2026: homepage now promotes a new Lien Rights Management product, says subcontractors have billed over $14B across 250k+ projects with Siteline, and cites 3 weeks paid faster, 7 days saved per month, 6x faster billing and 50% fewer pay app revisions (vendor claims). The pricing quote form asks how many lump sum, unit price and/or T&M projects you bill per month and which ERP you use (Sage, Vista, Spectrum, QuickBooks and others listed). Re-read Oct 17, 2026: homepage and pricing page unchanged in substance (subcontractor-only billing; AI vendor waiver validation listed on the pricing page; unlimited users and offices in every package). Re-checked Oct 19, 2026: unchanged in substance. The pricing page still lists AI vendor waiver validation in the Siteline Suite and Vendor Management packages, and describes Vendor Management as for subcontractors or GCs that want a focused vendor-compliance and lien-waiver tool; billing itself is still built for subcontractors. The homepage still describes no AI, so the tag stays. Re-checked Oct 20, 2026: homepage and pricing page unchanged in substance (subcontractor billing; AI vendor waiver validation still listed in both packages; the homepage still describes no AI). The pricing page details the Lien Rights Management add-on (state-specific lien deadlines, lien protection status per project, notices generated from project data and sent by certified mail from Siteline), says most customers are up and running within two weeks, and its FAQ names Textura, GCPay and Procore Pay among the GC payment portals Siteline integrates with. |

Where the vendor descriptions differ
- Who it is for: both say they are built for commercial subcontractors. eSUB names electrical, HVAC, concrete, mechanical, masonry, plumbing, drywall and structural steel contractors and has pages for executives, PMs, foremen and office staff. Siteline names A/R managers, CFOs and controllers, operations leaders, owners and PMs, and sells a Vendor Management package that GCs can also use.
- Change orders and T&M: eSUB tracks change orders from start to finish with lump-sum or category-based quotes, line items and custom access permissions, and its T&M tickets capture labor, materials and equipment, customer signatures on a phone or tablet and a reference to the related change order. Siteline tracks the status of unapproved change orders, shows which are proceeding with work anyway, and adds approved ones to the schedule of values.
- Billing: eSUB lists progress billing alongside purchase orders and job costing. Siteline generates pay apps on digitized versions of each GC's exact forms with digital signatures, submits them by email or through GC portals (it names Textura, GCPay and Procore Pay), and adds payment reminders, an aging dashboard, A/R reporting and cash flow forecasting.
- Lien waivers and compliance: Siteline creates, submits and tracks primary and vendor lien waivers, tracks COIs, W-9s and licenses, and sells a Lien Rights Management add-on that tracks state-specific deadlines and sends notices by certified mail. The eSUB pages we read do not describe lien waiver tools.
- Accounting: eSUB integrates with QuickBooks Online. Siteline syncs with ERPs; its quote form lists Sage, Vista and Spectrum by Viewpoint, QuickBooks, Foundation, ComputerEase, Acumatica, CMiC, COINS, NetSuite and Microsoft Dynamics 365.
- AI: eSUB's pages describe no AI, so it stays Not AI-first. Siteline's pricing page lists AI vendor waiver validation for incorrect forms, amounts or dates, but its homepage describes no AI, so it also stays Not AI-first.
- Pricing (checked Oct 20, 2026): neither publishes prices. esub.com/pricing returns not found and the calls to action are a demo; Siteline gives custom quotes based on product usage, billing volume and integrations, with unlimited users and offices in every package.
- Not used here: eSUB's 2023 customer-survey figures and customer quotes, and Siteline's payment-speed, time-saved, billing-volume and invoice-aging figures and customer quotes. Neither tool has been tested by Means & Methods Lab.
