COMPASS by Bespoke Metrics vs Veriforce

Two ways to prequalify subcontractors, built around different risks. COMPASS by Bespoke Metrics is a general contractor's subcontractor risk suite: subs fill in the standardized 1Form, financial analysts verify key data with machine-learning checks, and a rules-based Q Score and GC-specific limit model help set how much exposure to accept. Veriforce is a cross-industry contractor safety and compliance network: hiring clients set requirements, contractors subscribe to get qualified, and it adds Subcontractor Scoring, predictive risk ranking, worker compliance and training. Neither publishes hiring-client prices. Desk research from vendor pages read Oct 28, 2026; not tested, no winner.

What it doesSubcontractor prequalification, bidding and performance-evaluation suite with integrated bid management. It centralizes data collection and analytics. Re-read Oct 18, 2026: COMPASS SRP collects subcontractor data through the 1Form, a standardized qualification form, with a support team for subs; a data verification team of financial analysts reviews submissions, machine learning highlights potential issues and a person checks supporting documents, with alerts where data could not be verified. Its Q Score is a numerical, rules-based risk assessment covering business, finance and health and safety, and a GC-specific automated limit model suggests maximum subcontractor exposure that can be accepted, reviewed or overridden. COMPASS Eval holds internal subcontractor reviews; COMPASS Connect offers an API and Workato-based integrations. Its only AI-adjacent mention is machine learning in data verification, so we keep the Not AI-first tag. Re-read Oct 19, 2026: COMPASS SRP page unchanged in substance; the 1Form page says it is vetted by 70+ general contractors and satisfies over 92% of surety applications (vendor claims). Re-checked Oct 20, 2026: the homepage and the COMPASS SRP, Eval and Connect pages are unchanged in substance (1Form with the 70+ GCs and 92% surety claims, analyst and machine-learning verification, Q Score, automated limit model, Eval reviews visible only to your organization, Workato-based Connect). Re-checked Oct 22, 2026: the COMPASS SRP, Eval, Connect and about pages are unchanged in substance (1Form with the 70+ GC and 92% surety claims, analyst and machine-learning verification, Q Score, GC-specific automated limit model, Eval reviews visible only to your organization, API and Workato-based Connect, multi-language concierge for subs and GCs). The homepage still carries placeholder (lorem ipsum) text and sample figures in some sections; we do not use them. Re-checked Oct 24, 2026: the COMPASS SRP page is unchanged in substance (1Form with the 70+ GC and 92% surety claims, client service team and subcontractor help desk, financial-analyst and machine-learning verification, Q Score). The product menu also lists COMPASS Pulse and Data Control with one-line descriptions only; we do not describe them further. Re-checked Oct 26, 2026: the COMPASS SRP page is unchanged in substance (1Form standardized qualification form, client service team and subcontractor help desk, verification by financial analysts with machine-learning primary checks and a manual secondary check, Q Score, GC-specific automated limit model); COMPASS Eval and COMPASS Connect (API and a Workato partnership) pages are unchanged. The homepage still carries placeholder (lorem ipsum) text and sample figures; we do not use them.Cross-industry contractor management and supply-chain risk network (vendor wording) for prequalification, safety compliance, worker-level compliance and training. Hiring clients set requirements and contractors and suppliers join the Veriforce Network to get qualified and connected; construction is one of a dozen industries on its site, alongside oil and gas, utilities, chemicals, mining, manufacturing and others, so it is not construction-specific. Its contractor management page (read Oct 24, 2026) lists prequalifying contractors against a company's requirements and accreditation standards such as SSIP, PAS 91, the Common Assessment Standard and ISO 45001; onboarding where its team verifies contractor documentation and delivers orientations and training; dashboards, incident visibility, worksite access and worker compliance requirements, and worksite documents such as policies, safety inspections and work audits; job performance ratings, vendor evaluations and aggregate supply-chain reporting; and a predictive safety tool that ranks contractors as standard, elevated or high-risk potential from leading indicators (vendor calls it the industry's first). Its subcontractor management page describes a Subcontractor Scoring feature (you choose criteria such as safety rates and training, it calculates a weighted real-time score per subcontractor and alerts when a score drops below your threshold), predictive modeling it says uses machine learning and predictive analytics to flag elevated or high-risk subcontractors, expiry alerts for subcontractor insurance and certifications, and insurance verification. Its worksite management page describes pre-screening individual workers before site access, a red or green status on a digital ID, drug and alcohol testing, training and qualification checks, and a safety-culture survey based on the NOSACQ-50 framework. Other modules on the site: learning management with instructor-led and on-demand training, Operator Qualification (OQ) for U.S. DOT-regulated pipeline work, expert services (auditing, verification, consulting), ESG, and the Veriforce HUB partner marketplace of insurance and safety discounts for network members. The contractor management page says Veriforce does not just rely on AI for work that needs human expertise; the pages we read describe machine-learning risk prediction, not generative AI. Integrations: a Sept 14, 2026 press release announces a Creditsafe integration that brings company financial-health data into Veriforce Compliance Pro, a VeriforceOne mobile app for iOS and Android (search contractors, review compliance status, documents and dashboards), and process automation for client-specific compliance workflows in Compliance Pro; the contractor management page also lists custom configuration and integrations without naming systems. Veriforce announced on Oct 22, 2025 that it had acquired Highwire, the construction-focused prequalification and contractor risk vendor (see our Highwire listing). Network counters vary across its own pages (140,000+ contractors on the homepage, more than 80,000 vetted contractors on the construction page, 130,000 and 150,000 in two press releases; 3,200 hiring clients; 140+ countries), and figures such as a 30% reduction in contractor incident rates are vendor claims; we do not use them. Re-read Oct 26, 2026 for a compare: homepage, contractor management and construction pages unchanged in substance (Prequalify, Onboard, Control and Evaluate; predictive safety tool ranking contractors as standard, elevated or high-risk potential; accreditation standards such as SSIP, PAS 91, the Common Assessment Standard and ISO 45001; training, OQ, worksite and subcontractor management, ESG and expert services). Network counters still vary across its pages and are not used. Re-checked Oct 27, 2026: homepage, construction, contractors and subcontractor management pages unchanged in substance (hiring-client contractor management across multiple industries including construction; Subcontractor Scoring with weighted real-time scores and threshold alerts; Compliance Pro, ComplyWorks, VeriSource and CHAS contractor subscriptions; VeriforceONE platform). Network counters, NPS and percentage figures are vendor claims and are not used.

Pricing (as publicly stated)No public prices found (checked Oct 16, 2026; unchanged Oct 18, 2026): the vendor site has no pricing or plans link in its navigation or footer, and /pricing and /plans return a not-found page. Its contractor subscription terms (the legal agreement, read Oct 24, 2026) say that, unless an order says otherwise, fees are set per calendar year, invoiced annually in advance, not prorated for partial years and non-refundable; they also describe a Pay-As-You-Go option billed monthly in arrears by the number of qualified individuals using the services and a tiered DOT bundle fee, which relate to its Operator Qualification services. Hiring-client pricing is not published. Confirm current pricing with the vendor. Re-checked Oct 25, 2026: unchanged; the contractor subscription terms still say fees are invoiced annually in advance (due by January 31 each calendar year), are non-refundable, and offer a Pay-As-You-Go option billed monthly in arrears by qualified individuals; /pricing still returns a not-found page; no dollar figures. Where the vendor descriptions differ

  • Core job: COMPASS SRP centers on subcontractor counterparty risk for GCs: the 1Form standardized qualification form, a client service team that works with subcontractors, and a data verification team of financial analysts, where machine learning highlights potential issues, a person checks supporting documents and alerts flag data that could not be verified. Veriforce's subcontractor management page centers on safety and compliance across a contractor network: prequalification that highlights safety, risk and compliance, digital document upload and insurance verification for subs, expiry alerts for insurance and certifications, and compliance dashboards.
  • Scoring: COMPASS describes the Q Score as a numerical, rules-based assessment of subcontractor risk by an independent third party, covering business, finance and health and safety, plus a GC-specific automated limit model that suggests maximum subcontractor exposure, which you can accept automatically, review manually or overwrite. Veriforce describes Subcontractor Scoring (you choose criteria such as safety rates and training, its algorithm weights them into a real-time score per subcontractor, with thresholds and alerts) and a predictive safety tool that ranks contractors as standard, elevated or high-risk potential from leading indicators, using machine learning and predictive analytics.
  • AI: both are machine-learning-assisted rather than generative-AI products on the pages we read. COMPASS is tagged Not AI-first (machine learning appears only in data verification). Veriforce is tagged AI features added to established product, and its contractor management page says it does not just rely on AI for work that needs human expertise.
  • Scope: COMPASS also offers COMPASS Eval (internal subcontractor reviews visible only to your organization) and COMPASS Connect (an API and a Workato partnership for integrations). Veriforce spans a dozen industries beyond construction and adds worksite access and worker pre-screening, instructor-led and on-demand training, Operator Qualification for DOT-covered pipeline work, auditing and consulting services, and accreditation standards such as SSIP, PAS 91, the Common Assessment Standard and ISO 45001. Veriforce also owns Highwire, another prequalification platform (Veriforce press release, Oct 2025).
  • Pricing (checked Oct 28, 2026): neither publishes hiring-client prices. COMPASS has no pricing page (/pricing returns a 404) and its call to action is Schedule a Demo. Veriforce's /pricing returns a not-found page; its contractors page says contractor subscriptions (Compliance Pro, ComplyWorks, VeriSource and CHAS) vary by region of work and the hiring clients you want to work with and are tiered by number of employees, with no figures. See each tool page for detail.
  • Not like-for-like: COMPASS focuses on a GC's view of subcontractor financial and business risk and exposure limits; Veriforce is a network-based safety, compliance and worker-qualification platform where subcontractor scoring is one part.
  • Not used here: COMPASS's 1Form GC count and surety-coverage percentage, the placeholder text and sample figures on its homepage, and Veriforce's network and instructor counters, case-study savings and customer quotes (vendor material). Neither tool has been tested by Means & Methods Lab.

  • Whether your surety or broker wants the financial data COMPASS collects, the safety records Veriforce collects, or both
  • How each handles subcontractors who already maintain a profile elsewhere, and who pays for the subcontractor side
  • What either costs a general contractor; neither publishes hiring-client prices
  • What did you use it for, on what kind of work and project size?
  • How long did setup and training take, and who on your team did it?
