Siteline vs Constrafor

Two ways a subcontractor's back office gets help getting paid. Siteline is billing software for subcontractors that builds pay apps on each GC's forms and handles lien waivers, compliance documents, collections and cash-flow forecasting. Constrafor sells risk-management software to general contractors and, for subcontractors, Early Pay invoice financing and Cru, an AI agent suite for bookkeeping, bills, job costing and GC compliance. Not like-for-like. Desk research from vendor pages read Oct 27, 2026; not tested, no winner.

What it doesBilling software for subcontractors that builds pay apps on each GC's exact forms and tracks compliance documents, change orders and lien waivers. It also covers lien waiver generation and collection, A/R reporting, cash-flow forecasts, collections, and lien rights deadlines. Integrates with accounting systems and GC payment portals. Vendor says it has digitized 23,000+ forms from 17,000+ GCs and cites getting paid 3 weeks faster (vendor claims). The homepage does not describe AI, so we tag it Not AI-first; its pricing page (re-checked Oct 16, 2026) does list "AI vendor waiver validation for incorrect forms, amounts, or dates" as a feature of the Siteline Suite and of its vendor-compliance package. Re-read Oct 16, 2026: homepage now promotes a new Lien Rights Management product, says subcontractors have billed over $14B across 250k+ projects with Siteline, and cites 3 weeks paid faster, 7 days saved per month, 6x faster billing and 50% fewer pay app revisions (vendor claims). The pricing quote form asks how many lump sum, unit price and/or T&M projects you bill per month and which ERP you use (Sage, Vista, Spectrum, QuickBooks and others listed). Re-read Oct 17, 2026: homepage and pricing page unchanged in substance (subcontractor-only billing; AI vendor waiver validation listed on the pricing page; unlimited users and offices in every package). Re-checked Oct 19, 2026: unchanged in substance. The pricing page still lists AI vendor waiver validation in the Siteline Suite and Vendor Management packages, and describes Vendor Management as for subcontractors or GCs that want a focused vendor-compliance and lien-waiver tool; billing itself is still built for subcontractors. The homepage still describes no AI, so the tag stays. Re-checked Oct 20, 2026: homepage and pricing page unchanged in substance (subcontractor billing; AI vendor waiver validation still listed in both packages; the homepage still describes no AI). The pricing page details the Lien Rights Management add-on (state-specific lien deadlines, lien protection status per project, notices generated from project data and sent by certified mail from Siteline), says most customers are up and running within two weeks, and its FAQ names Textura, GCPay and Procore Pay among the GC payment portals Siteline integrates with. Re-checked Oct 22, 2026: homepage and pricing page unchanged in substance (subcontractor billing on each GC's forms; AI vendor waiver validation still listed in the Siteline Suite and Vendor Management packages; the homepage still describes no AI, so the tag stays). The quote form now starts by asking company type (subcontractor, general contractor or other) and whether you do commercial work, and the solutions menu has a General Contractors entry for lien waiver and vendor compliance automation. Outcome figures and customer quotes not repeated. Re-read Oct 23, 2026 for a compare: pricing page unchanged in substance (Siteline Suite for subcontractors; Vendor Management for subcontractors or GCs focused on vendor compliance and lien waivers; AI vendor waiver validation listed in both; Lien Rights Management add-on; GC payment portal integrations named as Textura, GCPay and Procore Pay). The homepage still describes no AI, so the tag stays. Re-checked Oct 24, 2026: homepage and pricing page unchanged in substance (pay apps, lien waivers, vendor waivers, Lien Rights Management, collections and reporting for subcontractors; vendor compliance and lien waivers for GCs). Billing-volume, speed and aging figures are vendor claims and not used. For general contractors it covers subcontract management, subcontractor onboarding and prequalification, and certificate-of-insurance tracking; growth solutions for subcontractors include cash-flow reports and invoice financing. Its COI page introduces Insurance CoPilot, described as an AI risk assistant with ChatGPT built in, alongside COI request, tracking and review workflows, an endorsements view, automated reminders and expiration alerts, and integrations that import project details from Procore, Autodesk, Sage, Vista, CMiC and others. The COI FAQ says it supports OCIPs and CCIPs, tier-2 subcontractor COIs, and review by your broker or audit team; Constrafor also offers to act as an extension of your risk team. Its prequalification page describes a single master form subs fill once and GCs can customize, free for subcontractors, and says continuous monitoring reduces the risk of subcontractor default and leads to lower insurance premiums (vendor claims). Retagged from Not AI-first on Oct 16, 2026 because of Insurance CoPilot; the pages we read do not detail what the CoPilot does. Re-read Oct 17, 2026: the COI page still introduces Insurance CoPilot as an AI risk assistant for insurance-document review with "ChatGPT Built-in", still lists Procore, Autodesk, Sage, Vista and CMiC imports, and now shows "Start Free Trial" buttons; the prequalification page still says it is free for subcontractors. The homepage copy still does not describe AI features, though its meta description says "AI Risk Management". Constrafor also sells Cru, which it calls an AI financial OS for subcontractors, with bookkeeping, bills, cash-forecasting, job-costing, materials and COI agents, and says every agent action is approved by the customer's team before it is final (vendor claims, read Oct 17, 2026); Cru's site cites 78,000+ subcontractors in the Constrafor network, while the Constrafor homepage cites a 40,000+ contractor network. (Checked Oct 16, 2026.) Re-checked Oct 19, 2026: the GC software is still quote-only, but the subcontractor Financing Pricing page publishes Early Pay rates. Blue: 0.4% weekly fee plus a 1.00% upfront platform fee on the advanced amount, no subscription. Gold: 0.35% weekly plus 0.75%, $1,750 a month ($16,800 a year). Platinum: 0.33% weekly plus 0.50%, $3,500 a month ($33,600 a year). The page lists Gold for funding needs up to $500K and Platinum up to $1M, a $100 minimum platform fee per transaction, and further platform fees when a GC payment arrives more than 15 days late and from the 60th day after the expected date. Only GC-approved invoices on active jobs qualify, and the page says funds arrive within 48 hours. Cru offered a 1-month free trial without listing a price at that check (it now lists $500 a month; see Oct 22 update). Re-checked Oct 21, 2026: Early Pay rates unchanged (Blue 0.4% weekly plus 1.00% upfront, no subscription; Gold 0.35% plus 0.75%, $1,750 a month or $16,800 a year; Platinum 0.33% plus 0.50%, $3,500 a month or $33,600 a year; funds within 48 hours). Where the vendor descriptions differ

  • Billing and pay apps: Siteline digitizes GC-specific forms, creates and submits pay apps by email or GC portal, tracks pending change orders and sends payment reminders. Cru says it pulls bills, receipts and pay apps in from email and GC portals and codes each line to the right job and cost code, and keeps contract, change orders, billing and earned revenue in sync; the pages we read do not describe building pay apps on GC forms.
  • Lien waivers and compliance: Siteline creates, submits and tracks primary and vendor lien waivers, lists AI vendor waiver validation for incorrect forms, amounts or dates, tracks COIs, W-9s and licenses, and sells a Lien Rights Management add-on that tracks state-specific lien deadlines. Cru's GC Compliance Hub tracks prequalification, contracts, lien waivers and COIs for each GC and job, and says its agents follow up on COIs.
  • Getting paid sooner: Siteline works on billing accuracy, collections and payment-date prediction. Constrafor's Early Pay advances GC-approved invoices, paid within 48 hours of GC approval per its pages; you can enroll all or just one invoice, and it says it is funded by Constrafor, not a bank loan, with a weekly fee and an upfront platform fee.
  • AI: Siteline is tagged Not AI-first; its homepage describes no AI and its pricing page lists AI vendor waiver validation. Constrafor is tagged AI features added to an established product, for Cru's agents and its AI-enabled insurance review for GCs.
  • Pricing (checked Oct 27, 2026): Siteline is a custom quote with unlimited users and offices and no per-seat or location fees. Cru lists one plan at $500 a month including $500 in Cru credits, first month free, with optional CPA or CFA professional services at $250 an hour. Early Pay's Blue tier is $0 a month at a 0.4% weekly fee plus a 1.00% upfront platform fee on the advanced amount; Gold ($1,750 a month) and Platinum ($3,500 a month) lower those to 0.35% and 0.75%, and 0.33% and 0.50%, with 20% off annual billing and a $100 minimum platform fee per transaction. See each tool page for detail.
  • Not used here: Siteline's billing-volume, speed and invoice-aging figures, and Constrafor's network, funded-invoice and financed-dollar counters, awards and customer quotes (vendor content). Neither tool has been tested by Means & Methods Lab.

  • How much of Cru's $500 monthly credits your bill and compliance volume uses
  • What Early Pay would cost on your GC's actual payment timing, including late-payment platform fees
  • What did you use it for, on what kind of work and project size?
  • How long did setup and training take, and who on your team did it?
  • What does it cost you in practice, compared with what the sales call said?
