Earlytrade vs GCPay

Two tools that sit between a general contractor and its subcontractors at payment time, doing different jobs. Not like-for-like (our reading): GCPay automates pay applications, lien waivers, compliance documents and e-payments with the waiver held in escrow, while Earlytrade lets subs request early payment on approved invoices at a discount they choose, so the GC earns a return on its cash. Earlytrade shows GCPay among the construction tools it works alongside. Both are quote-only for GCs. Desk research from vendor sites read Nov 2, 2026; no winner.

What it doesEarly-payment negotiation for GCs and subs: subs request early payment, and GCs earn a return on their cash. The homepage says commercial GCs with significant subcontractor spend use Earlytrade and keep control of their cash and payments. Its subcontractor page (earlytrade.com/solutions/subcontractors/) says subs see invoice statuses and estimated payment dates, choose invoice by invoice whether to request early payment and set their own discount offer rates, keep submitting invoices the same way, are paid the same way only sooner if they opt in, pay nothing to use the free portal beyond the discount they choose, and put up no security or mandate. The site offers a margin calculator and US, UK and Australia regional sites. The pages read do not describe AI. Return, margin, days-early and ENR figures and customer CFO quotes are vendor content and are not used.Cloud software that automates pay applications, lien waivers and compliance documents between general contractors and subcontractors. It covers pay app workflows and automation, lien waiver creation and exchange, compliance document collection, ERP and accounting integration, electronic payments with the lien waiver held in escrow so a signed copy can be viewed before payment is released, reporting and dashboards, custom reports, and official AIA documents. Its change order page says approved change orders sync into the schedule of values (SOV) and pay apps and entries are checked against SOV and contract values. The ERP page names Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate, Sage 100 Contractor, Sage Intacct Construction, Vista by Viewpoint, CMiC, Acumatica and an Autodesk Forma Build integration. The pages read do not describe AI features, so it is tagged Not AI-first. Customer counts, volume counters, support-time figures, return claims, the cost-benefit calculator and customer quotes are vendor material and are not used.
Who it's forCommercial general contractors and their trade partners.General contractors' CFOs, controllers, project accountants and PMs, plus the subcontractors who bill them.
Pricing (as publicly stated)No GC pricing published: earlytrade.com/pricing returns a not-found page, the navigation has no pricing link, and the site offers "Request Demo". The subcontractor page says the portal is free for subs and the only cost to a sub is the discount it chooses to offer (vendor statement). Confirm pricing with the vendor. Not publicly listed: custom pricing with no figures; book a demo. The pricing page describes three bases: annual construction volume of subcontracted work, a Usage-Based option (number of projects and subcontractors in your account each month) and a Volume-Based option (volume of projects you manage with subcontractors), while its description says pricing depends on the number of projects and payment applications you assess and approve; confirm the basis with GCPay. Onboarding, integration and support are in-house.

Where the vendor descriptions differ

  • Who it is built for (vendor pages): GCPay names GC CFOs, controllers, project accountants and PMs plus the subcontractors who bill them. Earlytrade names commercial general contractors with significant subcontractor spend and their trade partners.
  • What each handles: GCPay covers pay app workflows, lien waiver creation and exchange, compliance document collection, official AIA documents, change orders synced into the schedule of values, reporting and electronic payments with the lien waiver held in escrow until payment is released. Earlytrade covers the timing and price of payment: subs see invoice statuses and estimated payment dates and choose, invoice by invoice, whether to request early payment and at what discount rate.
  • For subcontractors: Earlytrade says subs keep submitting invoices the same way, are paid the same way only sooner if they opt in, put up no security and pay nothing to use the portal beyond the discount they choose. GCPay's pages describe subs submitting pay apps and exchanging lien waivers through GCPay; the pages we read do not state a subcontractor fee.
  • Using both: Earlytrade's homepage shows GCPay's logo among the construction technology it says it works alongside, along with Procore, Sage, Vista, CMiC, Textura and Trimble. The pages we read do not describe how data passes between the two, so ask both vendors.
  • Connections: GCPay's ERP page names Sage 300 CRE, Sage 100 Contractor, Sage Intacct Construction, Vista, CMiC, Acumatica and an Autodesk Forma Build integration. Earlytrade shows a Trimble Marketplace badge and runs US, UK and Australia regional sites.
  • Pricing (read Nov 2, 2026): GCPay publishes no figures; its pricing page describes bases tied to subcontracted construction volume, usage (projects and subcontractors) or project volume. Earlytrade publishes no GC pricing (/pricing returns not found) and offers Request Demo; it says the portal is free for subs apart from the discount they choose.
  • AI tags: both stay Not AI-first; the pages we read describe no AI features.
  • Not used here: return and margin multiples, days-early averages, ENR peer claims, customer counts, volume counters, the cost-benefit and margin calculators and customer quotes (vendor material). Facts for both tools come from vendor websites (desk research).
