Workyard vs Arcoro Time (formerly ExakTime)

Two GPS time-tracking apps for construction crews that both publish per-person prices. Workyard adds cost-code job costing, scheduling, project expenses and, on its Autopilot plan, AI time keeping that drafts timecard fixes and allocates time to projects for admin approval. Arcoro Time, the renamed ExakTime, covers geofenced clock-ins, cost codes, equipment tracking and daily reports, with a Time + Payroll tier, and does not describe AI in the time product. Desk research from vendor pages read Oct 26, 2026; not tested, no winner.

What it doesWorkforce management for contractors and field teams, with GPS time tracking, cost-code job costing, accounting sync and scheduling. It offers GPS time tracking with time-clock rules and auto clock-in, overtime and break compliance with a GPS audit trail, time capture by project and cost code on every time card, live job-cost reporting by employee and cost code, sync of time by job and cost code to accounting/ERP (Sage, NetSuite, ComputerEase and Foundation named on the pricing page), scheduling with notes/checklists/attachments, a live crew map, mileage allocation, field expenses on a company card, mobile forms with an AI-powered form builder/converter (upload a PDF or image), and a developer API with 60+ endpoints. The pricing page's Autopilot plan adds "AI Time Keeping": a Time assistant (marked New) that the vendor says finds and fixes a full pay period of timecards automatically, with all changes reviewed and approved by admins before they go to payroll, and a Project Time Tracking Agent that detects work-site visits and allocates time to the right project using your offsite and rule-group settings with no manual clock-ins. Homepage figures (50,000+ workers, 10,000+ contractors) and customer quotes are vendor-published claims. Re-checked Oct 19, 2026: unchanged: plans still start at $6 per user/month billed annually with monthly billing available, the Autopilot plan still lists the Time assistant (marked New) and the Project Time Tracking Agent, and mobile forms still offer an AI form builder. Re-checked Oct 21, 2026: the pricing page still lists Starter, Pro, Autopilot (most popular, with AI Time Keeping and the Time assistant marked New) and Enterprise (contact sales). Re-checked Oct 23, 2026: the pricing page still lists Starter, Pro, Autopilot (AI Time Keeping, time-clock automations, time-card sign-offs, ERP integrations, API access) and Enterprise, and now shows Smart Forms under Add-ons; the homepage still offers an AI-powered form builder. The site footer links a page titled AI Instructions aimed at AI tools; it was not opened or used. Re-checked Oct 24, 2026: the pricing page still lists Starter, Pro, Autopilot (AI Time Keeping with the Time assistant marked New and the Project Time Tracking Agent, time-clock automations, time-card sign-offs, ERP integrations, API access) and Enterprise; its plan comparison also lists a time clock kiosk and clock-in verification with facial photos (face detection to ensure only facial photos are submitted), and Smart Forms remains an add-on with an AI-powered form generator. Re-checked Oct 26, 2026: the pricing page is unchanged in substance (Starter, Pro, Autopilot with AI Time Keeping, the Time assistant and the Project Time Tracking Agent, and Enterprise; time clock kiosk and clock-in verification with facial photos in the plan comparison; ERP sync naming Sage, NetSuite, ComputerEase and Foundation; API with no additional usage fees). The worker and contractor counts and customer quotes are still not used.GPS-verified time tracking for contractors and construction crews, renamed from ExakTime to Arcoro Time. The exaktime.com site now redirects to arcoro.com/exaktime. The page lists geofenced clock-ins limited to a job site, breadcrumb tracking, project and cost-code hours, tool and equipment tracking with incident/repair notes, a daily employee work report across job sites, regular vs overtime hours by site, start/stop detail per employee, a tablet kiosk option with face photos at clock-in (per a customer quote on the page), and connection to Arcoro Payroll or your payroll provider. Integrations named: QuickBooks, Sage, ADP, Acumatica, Foundation and Viewpoint. The FAQ says GPS is active only while an employee is on the clock. Savings figures on the page cite American Payroll Association estimates (vendor-cited, not verified). The only AI mention we found is AI-powered support tools in Arcoro's support center; the time-tracking product itself is not described as AI. Re-checked Oct 19, 2026: Arcoro now publishes an Arcoro Time pricing page (see Pricing). The time product is still not described as AI, so the tag stays. Re-checked Oct 20, 2026: the product page and pricing page are unchanged in substance (geofenced clock-ins, breadcrumb tracking, cost codes, equipment tracking, daily reports; AI mentioned only for support tools). The homepage now says Arcoro Time has served the construction industry since 2018. Re-checked Oct 22, 2026: the product page is unchanged in substance (geofenced clock-ins, breadcrumb tracking, project and cost-code hours, tool and equipment tracking with incident and repair notes, daily employee work report, regular and overtime hours by site, GPS active only on the clock; QuickBooks, Sage, ADP, Acumatica, Foundation and Viewpoint named). It still says Arcoro has served construction since 2018, while the page footer still dates the time-tracking product to 1999 (vendor wording; ExakTime predates the rename). AI is still mentioned only for support tools. Payroll-loss figures cite American Payroll Association estimates and customer quotes are vendor material; neither is used. Re-checked Oct 24, 2026: product page unchanged in substance (geofenced clock-ins, breadcrumb tracking, project and cost-code hours, equipment tracking, daily reports; QuickBooks, Sage, ADP, Acumatica, Foundation and Viewpoint named). It still says both that Arcoro has served construction since 2018 and that the time clock dates to 1999 (vendor wording), and AI is still mentioned only for support tools. Re-checked Oct 26, 2026: product page unchanged in substance (geofenced clock-ins or breadcrumb tracking, project and cost-code hours, equipment tracking with incident and repair notes, daily employee work report, Photo ID Capture listed; GPS active only while on the clock; QuickBooks, Sage, ADP, Acumatica, Foundation and Viewpoint named). AI is still mentioned only for support tools.

Where the vendor descriptions differ

  • Who it is for: Workyard pitches contractors and field teams, including specialty and general contractors, that want GPS-verified, cost-coded time feeding payroll and job costing. Arcoro Time pitches construction crews, contractors and payroll administrators replacing paper time cards.
  • Location capture: Workyard says it shows addresses visited, time on site and driving trips with mileage without needing geofences, and also offers geofences and clock-in limits. Arcoro Time lets you put a geofence around a job site and limit clock-ins to it, or use breadcrumb tracking, and its FAQ says GPS is active only while an employee is on the clock.
  • Job costing: both assign hours to projects and cost codes. Workyard also lists live project dashboards for time, cost, mileage and travel time and cost-code-tagged field expenses. Arcoro Time lists tool and equipment tracking with incident and repair notes and a daily employee work report across job sites.
  • Kiosks and identity: Workyard's plan comparison lists a time clock kiosk and clock-in verification with facial photos (face detection checks that only facial photos are submitted). Arcoro Time lists Photo ID Capture, and a customer quote on its page mentions a tablet kiosk with face photos.
  • AI: Workyard's Autopilot plan lists AI Time Keeping, with a Time assistant and a Project Time Tracking Agent that detects work-site visits and allocates time to projects; the vendor says admins review changes before they reach payroll, and its forms add-on has an AI form builder. Arcoro mentions AI only for its support tools, not the time product.
  • Integrations: Workyard exports time to QuickBooks Online and Desktop, ADP and Gusto and, on higher plans, syncs with ERPs such as Sage, NetSuite, ComputerEase and Foundation, with API access at no extra usage fee. Arcoro names QuickBooks, Sage, ADP, Acumatica, Foundation and Viewpoint, and its top tier pays employees through Arcoro Payroll.
  • Pricing (checked Oct 26, 2026): Workyard plans start at $6 per user per month billed annually, with monthly billing available; prices for Pro and Autopilot did not show in the page text we read, and Enterprise is through sales. Arcoro Time lists Time Essential from $9, Time Professional from $12 and Time + Payroll from $20 per employee per month on an annual contract, with monthly and quarterly payment terms, volume pricing for 200+ employees and a free trial.
  • Not used here: Workyard's worker and contractor counts and customer savings quotes, and Arcoro's American Payroll Association loss figures and customer quotes (vendor content).
