| What it does | GPS time-card app for construction and other field industries: clock in/out (individual, supervisor crew clock-in, kiosk), GPS breadcrumbing and required-onsite clock-in, location-based reminders, signed digital time cards, daily safety/injury sign-off, cost codes and job costing, budgets vs actuals, equipment hours and GPS, scheduling, unlimited GPS/time-stamped photos and notes, documents, and customizable daily project reports. The homepage says the daily can auto-generate weather, job costing, equipment, photos, injury report and hours on site for each project, and that kiosk facial recognition "uses AI" to notify the office about buddy punching. That is the only AI use described; the daily report is assembled from captured data, not described as AI-written. Offline mode listed. Homepage figures (e.g. total time-card hours tracked) are vendor claims. | Time-tracking, scheduling and job-management app for construction and field service: mobile and web clock in/out, GPS and geofencing, who's-working-now view, drag-and-drop scheduling, time off, job costing, job management, conversations, shift wrap-up and compliance forms, reports, and payroll/accounting integrations (QuickBooks, Sage 100 Contractor, Xero, ADP and Paychex named). The vendor has added ClockShark Lightning (marked New in the site navigation), which its Lightning page describes as AI inside the existing app: at launch one AI agent, JobReady, which composes a shift brief from the day's schedule, jobs, site notes, checklists and attachments when a crew member opens the app on a scheduled day, plus two standard (non-AI) features, Task Checklists (up to 20 timestamped items that appear at clock-in) and Mileage Tracking (miles entered at clock-out, CSV export; Pro). The vendor says JobReady only produces a brief and never changes a schedule, job or record on its own, that on-clock GPS collection is unchanged, and that customer data is not used to train AI models. Figures on the site (9,500+ companies, 100,000+ field pros, "99.9% accuracy", "industry's #1 timesheet app") are vendor claims. |
| Who it's for | Construction crews and owners of small to mid-size trade, excavation, restoration and similar field businesses. | Small and mid-size construction and field service businesses that need crew time, GPS and scheduling feeding payroll and job costing. |
| Pricing (as publicly stated) | Free tier plus paid plans (pricing page, checked Oct 16, 2026): Pro $11.99 per user/month billed monthly or $9.99 billed annually; Premium $17.99 monthly or $14.99 annually; both plus a $40 admin license (first user included). 14-day Pro trial, no credit card required. | Vendor-listed USD prices (pricing page rendered in a headless browser, Oct 16, 2026): Standard $42/month plus $9.50 per user per month; Pro $63/month plus $11.50 per user per month (Pro adds PTO, multi-department controls, advanced job costing, shift wrap-up forms, mileage tracking). The page states a three-year (3) contract term applies to all pricing plans; 14-day trial with Pro features; pro-rated billing for active users. Lightning page: JobReady and Task Checklists on all plans, Mileage Tracking on Pro. Confirm current terms with the vendor. (Checked Oct 16, 2026.) |

Where the vendor descriptions differ
- AI: busybusy's homepage says kiosk facial recognition "uses AI" to notify the office about buddy punching, and describes the daily project report as assembled from captured data, not AI-written. ClockShark's Lightning page describes one AI agent, JobReady, that composes a shift brief from the day's schedule, jobs, site notes, checklists and attachments, and says it never changes a schedule, job or record on its own.
- Time capture: both list mobile clock in/out with GPS, job costing and scheduling. busybusy adds supervisor crew clock-in, kiosk mode, GPS breadcrumbing, signed digital time cards, daily safety/injury sign-off, equipment hours and offline mode. ClockShark adds geofencing, a who's-working-now view, time off, timestamped Task Checklists and (Pro) mileage at clock-out, with named payroll/accounting integrations (QuickBooks, Sage 100 Contractor, Xero, ADP, Paychex).
- Daily reports: busybusy lists customizable daily project reports that pull weather, job costing, equipment, photos, injury reports and hours on site. ClockShark lists shift wrap-up and compliance forms and reports.
- Pricing (vendor-listed, Oct 16, 2026): busybusy has a free tier, Pro at $11.99 per user/month monthly or $9.99 annually and Premium at $17.99 or $14.99, each plus a $40 admin license (first user included). ClockShark lists Standard at $42/month plus $9.50 per user per month and Pro at $63/month plus $11.50 per user per month, with a three-year contract term on all plans.
- Billing basis differs (per user plus an admin license vs a monthly base plus per user, on different terms), so the figures are not like-for-like.

What we can't tell you yet
Which tool is better for your work. That needs testing on the same package with a verified answer key. Planned measures for this comparison:
- Time-card corrections needed on the same crew's pay period in each app
- Outside Means & Methods Lab's current benchmark scope.
