Novara Flex vs BiltOn
Two construction safety platforms that now describe AI on top of their safety records. Not like-for-like (our reading): Novara Flex is a configurable EHS suite with AI form building and ASSP-sourced safety answers, while BiltOn ties verified worker identity and site access to daily safety routines and AI risk scoring. Vendor pages re-read Oct 18, 2026; desk research, not tested, no winner.
In short: Novara Flex (Construction safety software; no public prices (quote / sales)) vs BiltOn (Construction safety platform; no public prices (quote / sales)). Facts last checked Oct 18, 2026. No winner declared; not tested.

| AI role (our label) | AI features added to established product | AI features added to established product |
| What it does | Mobile-first construction safety software with no-code forms, audits, inspections, SDS management and incident tracking, plus embedded AI. Built for safety programs, it offers no-code configurable forms and workflows, digital audits and inspections, equipment inspection, SDS management and incident tracking. The vendor says embedded AI turns activity into insights by flagging patterns and emerging risks. Re-read Oct 18, 2026: the Flex AI page lists Form Agent, which turns a PDF, scan or image up to 25 MB into a digital form with confidence indicators and refines it in plain language, and Safety Trekr AI, powered by ASSP, which gives source-backed answers from ANSI/ASSP standards and the Safety Professionals Handbook; a Hazard Detection Agent, an operational risk intelligence layer and natural-language dashboards are marked coming soon. The construction page names QR-code equipment inspections, offline mobile reporting, contractor risk, toolbox talks and Procore and Spectrum integrations. | Safety and site-operations platform for owners and general contractors that ties verified worker identity and site access to daily safety routines. It offers crew safety visibility, safety compliance management and preventative risk intelligence, turning worker and site safety data into closed-loop safety workflows tied to each worker and site. Re-read Oct 18, 2026: workforce features include SMS or QR self-onboarding, 3D facial recognition access control, digital turnstiles, real-time headcount and credential checks; safety features include mandatory pre-task plans with supervisor sign-off, permits that cannot be bypassed, a JHA library, multilingual toolbox talks with 200+ topics, and forms aimed at OSHA recordkeeping and NYC DOB requirements. The homepage and Risk Prevention module now describe AI-powered risk scoring, predictive dashboards and EMR optimization, so the label changed from Not AI-first to AI features added. It syncs attendance to the Procore Daily Log every 15 minutes and states SOC 2 Type II, TLS 1.3 and AES-256 encryption (vendor statements). |
| Who it's for | Construction safety teams at general, mechanical and electrical contractors (vendor list). | Construction owners and enterprise general contractors' safety and risk teams. |
| Pricing (as publicly stated) | No public prices found (checked Oct 16, 2026): the vendor site has no pricing or plans link in its navigation or footer, and /pricing and /plans return a not-found page. The site's calls to action are "Book demo", "Contact us", "Request a demo". Re-checked Oct 18, 2026: novara.com/pricing still returns a not-found page; the site also offers a self-serve video demo center. Confirm current pricing with the vendor. | Custom quote / no public prices on pricing page (checked Oct 16, 2026; unchanged Oct 18, 2026): three modules (Workforce Management, Safety & Compliance Management, Risk Prevention at Scale), each listed as "Custom" with "Contact for custom quote"; the page says each module is customized to your project volume and operational complexity. The security page says SAML SSO is supported on Enterprise plans. Confirm current pricing with the vendor. |

Where the vendor descriptions differ
- Starting point (vendor wording): Novara Flex is mobile-first safety software for construction with no-code forms and workflows, audits and inspections, QR-code equipment inspections, incident management, SDS management, contractor risk and training; it says reports can be filed from any job site, even offline. BiltOn calls itself enterprise safety intelligence for owners and general contractors and builds from the workforce: digital onboarding by SMS or QR, 3D facial recognition access control, digital turnstiles, real-time headcount and credential checks.
- Daily safety routines: BiltOn says pre-task plans are mandatory with supervisor sign-off and automatic escalation, permits for hot work, confined space and utilities cannot be bypassed, JHAs come from a standardized library, and toolbox talks have 200+ pre-built topics in several languages with timestamped sign-offs; its forms target OSHA recordkeeping and NYC DOB site safety plan requirements. Novara Flex lists toolbox talks and a training course catalog, a pre-configured Flex Blueprint for Construction, and no-code changes to forms and permissions without IT.
- Where the AI is: Novara's Flex AI page lists Form Agent (turns a PDF, scan or image up to 25 MB into a digital form with confidence indicators, then refines it in plain language) and Safety Trekr AI, powered by ASSP, which gives source-backed answers drawn from ANSI/ASSP standards and the Safety Professionals Handbook; a Hazard Detection Agent, an operational risk intelligence layer and natural-language dashboards are marked coming soon. BiltOn's Risk Prevention module lists AI-powered risk scoring, behavioral analytics, automated intervention alerts and EMR optimization for risk and insurance teams.
- Integrations and security: BiltOn says attendance, headcount and labor hours sync to the Procore Daily Log every 15 minutes, with PTPs, JHAs and toolbox talks attached as PDFs, and its platform page mentions two-way Procore and Autodesk sync; its security page states SOC 2 Type II, TLS 1.3 and AES-256 encryption, SAML SSO on Enterprise plans and AWS hosting in the United States. Novara names Procore and Spectrum integrations and links a trust center we did not read.
- Pricing: neither publishes prices. BiltOn's pricing page lists three modules (Workforce Management, Safety & Compliance Management, Risk Prevention at Scale), each Custom, customized to project volume and complexity. Novara routes to Book Demo and a self-serve video demo center; novara.com/pricing returned a not-found page on Oct 18, 2026. Not used here: both vendors' customer quotes and outcome claims, BiltOn's savings-per-$1B figures and homepage counters, and Novara's "#1 safety software" line.

What we can't tell you yet
Which tool is better for your work. That needs testing on the same package with a verified answer key. Planned measures for this comparison:
- How each handles subcontractor workers who never install an app
- When Novara's coming-soon AI features ship and which plan includes Flex AI
- What inputs BiltOn's AI risk score uses and how it is validated; neither vendor publishes a method
