Autodesk Assistant vs Constructable
Two ways a general contractor can get AI over its project records. Autodesk Assistant is an agent built into Autodesk Forma (formerly Autodesk Construction Cloud) that searches and acts on data already in Forma; Constructable is a separate project management platform for mid-size commercial GCs that positions itself as an alternative to Procore and Autodesk and includes its AI features in every plan. Vendor pages read Oct 21, 2026; desk research, not tested, no winner.
In short: Autodesk Assistant (Autodesk Forma) (Construction management AI; no public prices (quote / sales)) vs Constructable (Project management for mid-size GCs; vendor publishes prices). Facts last checked Oct 21, 2026. No winner declared; not tested.

| What it does | AI assistant built into Autodesk Forma; Autodesk says Autodesk Construction Cloud is now part of Forma. Autodesk describes it as a project-level agent that searches specifications, RFIs, issues, submittals, meetings, change orders, and schedules in natural language, drafts emails, summaries, reports, and dashboards, and keeps a reusable prompt library; its blog (updated June 3, 2026) says the Assistant for construction workflows is out of beta. In the Build RFIs tool, an RFI AI Agent (enabled per project) searches the project's specifications and closed RFIs as a question is typed and returns a verdict (No RFI needed, RFI recommended, or Couldn't determine), and AI can pre-fill RFI fields (title, question, category, discipline, cost and schedule impact, priority, location details) from a prompt for the user to review. Autodesk's help page says the Assistant uses pretrained third-party models and does not share customer data with those providers, sets query limits of 100 per project member per 24 hours and 500 per project per 24 hours, and says responses may not be complete or accurate. Autodesk says Forma has more than 15 AI-powered capabilities (vendor claim). Re-checked Oct 19, 2026: the blog (still dated June 3, 2026; read in a headless browser because a plain fetch returned 403) and the RFI help page are unchanged in substance: the Assistant for construction workflows is out of beta and the RFI AI Agent still returns No RFI needed, RFI recommended or Couldn't determine. The blog says that soon teams will also be able to capture a photo, add a short prompt and have AI generate a detailed issue for review (announced, not yet described as available). Re-checked Oct 20, 2026: the blog (still marked Updated June 3, 2026) and the RFI help page are unchanged in substance: the Assistant for construction workflows is out of beta, the RFI AI Agent still returns No RFI needed, RFI recommended or Couldn't determine, and photo-to-issue generation is still described as coming soon. Re-checked Oct 21, 2026: the blog (still marked Updated June 3, 2026) is unchanged in substance (Assistant for construction workflows out of beta, photo-to-issue generation still described as coming soon) and now closes by saying the Assistant is available in Autodesk Forma for construction workflows with access based on license type and user permissions; the RFI help page still describes the RFI AI Agent's three verdicts and AI prefill of the same fields. | Construction project management platform for mid-size commercial general contractors that its YC profile positions as an alternative to Procore, Autodesk and Fieldwire, from bidding to closeout. Its pricing page (read Oct 18, 2026) lists drawings and collaboration, photos and documents, punch lists and daily logs, bid management, takeoffs, RFIs and submittals, change orders and contracts, and budgeting and financials. The AI workflows page lists an AI Answer Engine that searches documents, drawing details, log entries and untagged photos and links each answer to its source, automatic drawing scale detection, AI punch list autofill from a dictated description, a Magic Extractor that copies tables and text from drawings, and Blend Modes for comparing sheets and revisions; its FAQ says all AI features are included in every plan at no extra cost. The site also lists API docs, a mobile app and a Claude connector. Y Combinator batch: Summer 2023 (YC company profile). Re-read Oct 19, 2026: the homepage lists full read and write integrations with ChatGPT (a ChatGPT plugin) and Claude (a Claude connector) and says eSigning is built in and included in the subscription; the AI workflows page and its all-AI-included FAQ are unchanged. Re-checked Oct 20, 2026: homepage, pricing and AI workflows pages unchanged in substance (ChatGPT plugin and Claude connector, all AI features included in every plan); the homepage also lists automated drawing reviews that show what changed between revisions and two-way syncing integrations with accounting ERPs. Re-checked Oct 21, 2026: homepage and AI workflows page unchanged in substance (ChatGPT plugin and Claude connector, automated drawing reviews, two-way accounting ERP syncing; AI Answer Engine with source links, automatic scale detection, AI punch list autofill, Magic Extractor and Blend Modes); the homepage also lists auto-checking submittals against specs. Customer quotes on the homepage are vendor-published and not used here. |
| Who it's for | Autodesk Forma (formerly Autodesk Construction Cloud) project teams; Autodesk says access depends on license type and user permissions. | Mid-size commercial general contractors and builders in the U.S. and Canada. |
| Pricing (as publicly stated) | Not publicly listed. Autodesk's construction pricing page (rendered in a headless browser, Oct 16, 2026) shows no prices: it says Autodesk supports user, project and account-based pricing, offers a 30-day money-back guarantee (vendor statement), and routes to Bundle Offers, Pricing by Product and sales. (Checked Oct 16, 2026; unchanged Oct 19, 2026: still flexible user, project and account-based pricing, a 30-day money-back guarantee and no figures.) Re-checked Oct 20, 2026: unchanged; the page, headed Autodesk Forma Pricing, offers Bundle Offers and Pricing by Product across Forma Build, Forma Data Management, AutoSpecs, Pype, Forma Construction Connect, Forma Takeoff and Forma Estimate, with flexible user, project and account-based pricing, a 30-day money-back guarantee and no figures. Re-checked Oct 21, 2026: still no figures; the rendered Forma pricing page showed the Bundle Offers view (Model Management, Preconstruction and Construction Operations bundles, each Get a quote), and the user, project and account-based wording was not re-confirmed in that view. | Published on constructable.ai/pricing (read Oct 18, 2026): flat monthly rates billed monthly, with unlimited users, collaborators, projects, support and onboarding on every plan. Field Management $850 a month; Field and Project Management $2,000 a month (adds bid management, takeoffs, RFIs and submittals); Field, Project and Financial Management $3,500 a month (adds change orders, contracts, budgeting and financials). Small-team pricing on request. The page also shows a Procore cost comparison that it labels as estimates only; we do not repeat it. Re-checked Oct 19, 2026 (plan prices unchanged again Oct 20, 2026): the page's comparison notes say small-team pricing (under $20M annual volume) scales from $5,000 a year at $0 volume up to the listed plan price at $20M, and it lists free data migration and onboarding and unlimited training. Confirm small-team terms with Constructable. Re-checked Oct 21, 2026: plan prices unchanged ($850, $2,000 and $3,500 a month, unlimited users, collaborators, projects, support and onboarding; contact for small team pricing); the page's Procore comparison is still labeled estimates only and is not repeated. |

Where the vendor descriptions differ
- What each is: Autodesk describes the Assistant as a project-level agent working across connected Forma data that searches specifications, RFIs, issues, submittals, meetings, change orders and schedules in natural language and drafts emails, summaries, reports and dashboards, with a reusable prompt library; its blog (updated June 3, 2026) says the Assistant for construction workflows is out of beta and that access is based on license type and user permissions. Constructable is a full project management platform (drawings, photos and documents, punch lists and daily logs, bid management, takeoffs, RFIs and submittals, change orders and contracts, budgeting and financials) with AI built in.
- Search and answers: Constructable's AI Answer Engine searches documents, drawing details, log entries and untagged photos and links each answer to its source in the project. Autodesk says the Assistant uses its construction data model and ontology to surface related RFIs, issues, submittals and schedule items even when a term is not labeled in every record, and describes its answers as source-backed (vendor statement).
- RFIs, punch and drawings: in Forma's RFI tool, an RFI AI Agent (enabled per project) searches the project's specifications and closed RFIs as a question is typed and returns No RFI needed, RFI recommended or Couldn't determine, and AI prefill fills the title, question, category, discipline, cost and schedule impact, priority and location for review; Autodesk says photo-to-issue generation is coming soon. Constructable lists AI punch list autofill from a dictated description, automatic drawing scale detection, a Magic Extractor for tables and text on drawings, Blend Modes and automated drawing reviews that show what changed between revisions, and auto-checking submittals against specs.
- Outside tools and limits: Constructable lists full read and write integrations with ChatGPT (a plugin) and Claude (a connector), API docs and two-way syncing with accounting ERPs. The Assistant works inside Forma; Autodesk's help page (as recorded on our tool page) sets query limits of 100 per project member and 500 per project per 24 hours and says responses may not be complete or accurate.
- Pricing (checked Oct 21, 2026): Constructable publishes flat monthly rates with unlimited users, collaborators and projects: Field Management $850/month, Field and Project Management $2,000/month and Field, Project and Financial Management $3,500/month, with small-team pricing on request; its FAQ says all AI features are included in every plan. Autodesk publishes no figures: its Forma pricing page offers Model Management, Preconstruction and Construction Operations bundles, each by quote, and Assistant access depends on license type. The Procore cost comparison on Constructable's pricing page is labeled estimates only and is not repeated here.
- Not like-for-like (our reading): the Assistant is a feature of a platform a team may already license, while Constructable replaces the platform. Not used here: Autodesk's thousands-of-users and 15+ AI capabilities figures and both vendors' customer quotes. Neither tool has been tested by Means & Methods Lab.
