Where the vendor descriptions differ
- Hardware (vendor wording): Timescapes sells self-contained, solar-powered, cellular-connected cameras that it says install in under 30 minutes with no wiring, wifi or specialist; its cameras page lists 21 megapixels, up to a 99° field of view and an operating distance of up to 400 meters, and says ongoing system monitoring is provided free of charge. TrueLook lists fixed, pan-tilt-zoom and interior cameras (interior with four camera views), solar packages, mobile surveillance trailers, mounts and professional installation.
- Platform and analytics: Timescapes describes unlimited timelapses for any date range, an automated daily log of weather, personnel activity and equipment usage, equipment uptime and weather-impact tracking, health and safety scores, BIM model overlays on site imagery, IoT sensor correlation, and AI that automatically detects and logs concrete trucks, excavators and personnel. TrueLook describes remote live viewing with a multi-project dashboard, custom time-lapsing and photo documentation, and TrueAI site analytics with newly released PPE detection.
- Security: TrueLook leans further into security: Intelligent Security combines 24/7 HD recording, AI-powered motion detection and customizable alerts, with optional professional Jobsite Monitoring, and its menus list TrueShield and TrueDeter security solutions. The Timescapes pages we read pitch the visual record for progress, claims and dispute evidence rather than live security monitoring.
- Integrations: both name Procore and Autodesk. Timescapes says it can automatically share images to your project management software; TrueLook says its integrations cover Procore, Autodesk and others.
- Pricing: TrueLook publishes per-camera plans (re-checked Oct 17, 2026, unchanged): Essentials $129 per month month-to-month (as low as $99 prepaid), Advanced $359 (as low as $299), Premium $599 (as low as $469); Jobsite Monitoring is a $100 per month add-on for Advanced and Premium, and camera hardware is leased or purchased separately. Timescapes links a /pricing page that returned a not-found page on Oct 17, 2026; its call to action is Request Demo. Not used here: Timescapes' claim-dollar examples, project counts and uptime figure, and testimonials on both sites.

What we can't tell you yet
Which tool is better for your work. That needs testing on the same package with a verified answer key. Planned measures for this comparison:
- What a Timescapes camera and platform subscription costs per month and whether hardware is included
- How accurate each vendor's AI detection is on your site; neither publishes a test method
- What happens to the media archive and time-lapses when the project ends, for each vendor
