Agave vs Speedchain

Two ways to get field purchases coded to the job and into the ERP. Agave's Expense Management works with the corporate cards a contractor already has: field teams snap receipts, AI reads them and suggests job, cost code and cost type, and approved receipts post to the ERP as individual entries; it is one module in a wider AI back-office platform. Speedchain is a commercial credit card built for construction: after each swipe the cardholder gets a text, sends a receipt photo, AI suggests the vendor, amount and job code, and approved transactions sync to the ERP, with spend controls at the point of sale. Partly like-for-like (our reading): both code field spend and sync it to the ERP, but Agave is card-agnostic software and Speedchain is the card itself. Desk research from vendor sites read Nov 4, 2026; no winner.

Where the vendor descriptions differ

  • Card: Agave says no card switch is required, with automatic bank feeds for Capital One, Amex, Chase, Synovus and most major card programs, and statement upload for fuel and charge cards such as WEX, Fuelman and Home Depot. Speedchain issues its own Mastercard World Elite commercial card (physical and virtual), issued by Community Federal Savings Bank per its footer.
  • Receipts and AI coding: Agave says it reads handwritten job numbers and thermal receipts, matches vendors to the ERP vendor master and suggests job, cost code and cost type, with automatic reminders for missing receipts. Speedchain's AI Receipt Agent texts the cardholder after a purchase, reads the receipt photo and suggests vendor, amount and job code for a one-tap approval.
  • Controls and coding: Agave uses coding profiles by role to limit which cost codes and GL accounts each user sees, splits one charge across jobs or cost codes and posts each approved receipt as its own AP entry rather than a journal entry; reimbursements are built in. Speedchain lists coding by GL code, project, cost code, cost type and vendor, region and merchant-category limits, monthly and per-transaction limits per cardholder, and an English or Spanish interface.
  • ERP connections: both name Acumatica, QuickBooks Online and Desktop, Sage 300 CRE, Sage Intacct, Viewpoint Spectrum and Viewpoint Vista; Agave also names CMiC, Deltek ComputerEase, Foundation and Sage 100 Contractor. Agave's wider platform adds ERP Sync with Procore and Autodesk (Forma) Build, AP automation, vendor compliance, AI analytics, an MCP connector and custom AI agents; Speedchain adds Bill Pay (card, ACH or check) and fuel cards.
  • Pricing (read Nov 4, 2026): Agave publishes no prices; its pricing page says each product is sold standalone or bundled, priced on business size and modules or seats, and lists a one-time implementation fee for Expense Management. Speedchain's FAQ says it is free to use, its footer notes possible fees such as late-payment fees, and it has no price list. See each tool page for detail.
  • Not used here: time-saved and close-speed percentages, rebate figures, company counts, case studies and customer quotes (vendor material). Facts for both tools come from vendor websites (desk research).

  • How long did setup and training take, and who on your team did it?
  • What does it cost you in practice, compared with what the sales call said?
