COMPASS by Bespoke Metrics vs Constrafor

Two subcontractor prequalification products for general contractors with different scope. COMPASS by Bespoke Metrics centres on prequalification, a rules-based Q Score and a suggested exposure limit, with analyst-verified financial data and quote-only pricing. Constrafor pairs prequalification with subcontract management, certificate-of-insurance tracking with its AI Insurance CoPilot and invoice and payment tools, at published fixed annual GC prices. Partly like-for-like (our reading): both collect a standard sub form once and score risk for the GC, but COMPASS goes deeper on financial verification and limits while Constrafor spreads across contracts, insurance and payments. Desk research from vendor sites read Nov 5, 2026; no winner.

What it doesSubcontractor prequalification, bidding and performance-evaluation suite with integrated bid management that centralizes data collection and analytics. COMPASS SRP collects subcontractor data through the 1Form, a standardized qualification form, with a client service team, a subcontractor help desk and a multi-language concierge; a data verification team of financial analysts reviews submissions, machine learning runs primary checks and a person checks supporting documents, with alerts where data could not be verified. Its Q Score is a numerical, rules-based risk assessment covering business, finance and health and safety, and a GC-specific automated limit model suggests maximum subcontractor exposure that can be accepted, reviewed or overridden. COMPASS Eval holds internal subcontractor reviews visible only to your organization; COMPASS Connect offers an API and Workato-based integrations. The product menu also lists COMPASS Pulse and Data Control with one-line descriptions only, and a new Select List page names the 2026 COMPASS SELECT List of subcontractors (US and Canada) that meet published criteria such as a green Q Score, ratios above industry average, financials updated within six months of fiscal year end (externally prepared above $5M revenue) and high 1Form completion. Its only AI-adjacent mention is machine learning in data verification, so we keep the Not AI-first tag. The 1Form adoption and surety-coverage figures are vendor claims, and the homepage carries placeholder (lorem ipsum) text and sample figures; we use neither.Construction risk management software for GCs (subcontracts, sub prequalification, insurance certificates) plus invoice financing for subs. For general contractors it covers subcontract management, subcontractor onboarding and prequalification, certificate-of-insurance (COI) tracking, contract, invoice and payment management and diversity tracking; growth solutions for subcontractors include cash-flow tools and Early Pay invoice financing. Its COI page introduces Insurance CoPilot, described as an AI risk assistant for insurance-document review with ChatGPT built in, alongside COI request, tracking and review workflows, an endorsements view, automated reminders and expiration alerts, an interactive sample dashboard, and integrations that import project details from Procore, Autodesk, Sage, Vista, CMiC and others. The COI FAQ says it supports OCIPs and CCIPs, tier-2 subcontractor COIs, and review by your broker or audit team. Its prequalification page describes a single master form subs fill once and GCs can customize, free for subcontractors. Retagged from Not AI-first on Oct 16, 2026 because of Insurance CoPilot; the pages we read do not detail what the CoPilot does. Constrafor also sells Cru, which it calls an AI financial OS for subcontractors, with agents for bookkeeping, bills, cash forecasting, job costing, materials, compliance and COIs; Cru says every agent action is approved by the customer's team before it is final, and lists Early Pay, a Cru Card powered by Ramp, read-only connections to QuickBooks, Sage or Foundation, SOC 2 certification, and surety bonds and P&C insurance marked coming soon (vendor statements). Network counters, financing totals, customer quotes and award mentions are vendor content and are not used.

Where the vendor descriptions differ

  • The prequal form: COMPASS SRP collects subcontractor data through the 1Form, a standardized qualification form, backed by a client service team, a subcontractor help desk and a multi-language concierge. Constrafor describes a single master form that subs fill once and GCs can customize, and says prequalification is free for subcontractors.
  • Checking the data: COMPASS says a data verification team of financial analysts reviews submissions, with machine learning running primary checks and a person checking supporting documents, and alerts where data could not be verified. Its Q Score is a numerical, rules-based risk assessment across business, finance and health and safety, and a GC-specific limit model suggests a maximum subcontractor exposure you can accept, review or override. The Constrafor pages we read do not describe a comparable score or exposure limit.
  • Beyond prequal: Constrafor covers subcontract management, subcontractor onboarding, COI request, tracking and review with endorsements, reminders and expiration alerts, contract, invoice and payment management and diversity tracking, and imports project details from Procore, Autodesk, Sage, Vista, CMiC and others. COMPASS adds COMPASS Eval for internal sub reviews visible only to your organization, COMPASS Connect with an API and Workato-based integrations, integrated bid management and a 2026 COMPASS SELECT List of subs that meet its published criteria.
  • AI labels: Constrafor is tagged AI features added because of Insurance CoPilot, an AI risk assistant for insurance-document review with ChatGPT built in; its pages do not detail what the CoPilot does. COMPASS's only AI-adjacent mention is machine learning in data verification, so it stays Not AI-first.
  • Pricing (read Nov 5, 2026): Constrafor publishes fixed annual GC prices with unlimited users and subcontractors: $13,500 a year under $500M in ACV, $25,000 for $500M to $1B, $40,000 for $1B to $3B, and custom above $3B; prequal is free for subs. COMPASS publishes no prices; its call to action is Schedule a Demo. See each tool page for detail, including Constrafor's separate Early Pay and Cru products for subcontractors.
  • Not used here: COMPASS's 1Form adoption and surety-coverage figures and the sample figures on its homepage, and Constrafor's network counters, financing totals, customer quotes and award mentions (vendor material). Facts for both tools come from vendor websites (desk research).

Questions to ask in your review

  • Whether your prequal process needs analyst-financials and a suggested exposure limit, or prequal tied into subcontracts, COIs and payments
  • Which ERP and project tools each connects to in your stack, since COMPASS lists an API and Workato while Constrafor names Procore, Autodesk, Sage, Vista and CMiC
  • What COMPASS costs for your volume, and where your annual contract value falls in Constrafor's tiers
  • What did you use it for, on what kind of work and project size?
  • How long did setup and training take, and who on your team did it?
  • What does it cost you in practice, compared with what the sales call said?
