Voxel vs HammerTech

Two safety tools that work at different layers. Voxel is computer-vision AI that runs on a site's existing IP cameras to flag vehicle, ergonomic, PPE and area-control risks, and its pages are aimed at industrial operations such as logistics, manufacturing and retail, not construction. HammerTech is a construction safety platform for subcontractor management, orientations, permits, inspections, incidents and site access, with AI drafting built into those forms. Not like-for-like. Desk research from vendor pages read Oct 27, 2026; not tested, no winner.

What it doesAI platform that runs on existing IP cameras to detect ergonomics, area-control, vehicle-safety and PPE risks, plus quality and efficiency issues. The vendor says it works with 95%+ of IP cameras; issues include cold chain, hygiene, site condition, cycle time and flow mapping, with actions, owners, and reporting. Vendor claims 96%+ detection accuracy with site-tuned models and training on 5 billion+ hours of industrial scenarios (vendor claims, not verified). Note: examples are industrial operations (ports, warehouses), not construction sites. Re-checked Oct 19, 2026: the homepage announces that Ventral AI is joining Voxel, lists logistics and supply chain, manufacturing and retail as its industries (construction is not listed), and says it adapts to new environments within 48 hours; the 95%+ camera, 96%+ accuracy and 5 billion+ hours figures are unchanged vendor claims, and customer outcome percentages on the page are not repeated here. Re-checked Oct 21, 2026: the homepage now groups the platform into Voxel Safety (ergonomics, area controls, vehicle safety, PPE monitoring), Voxel Quality (cold chain spoilage prevention, hygiene compliance, site condition) and Voxel Flow (cycle time, flow mapping); the Ventral AI announcement is still shown and the industries listed are retail, logistics and supply chain, and manufacturing (construction still not listed). Accuracy, camera-compatibility and outcome figures are vendor claims and not repeated here; a footer link offering an AI summary was not used. Re-checked Oct 22, 2026: homepage unchanged in substance (Voxel Safety, Quality and Flow on existing IP cameras; Ventral AI announcement still shown; industries still retail, logistics and supply chain, and manufacturing, with construction not listed). It now features a Port of Virginia customer story; outcome figures and the footer AI summary link were not used. Re-checked Oct 23, 2026: homepage unchanged in substance (Voxel Safety, Quality and Flow on existing IP cameras; Ventral AI announcement still shown; industries logistics and supply chain, manufacturing and retail, with construction not listed). The accuracy line now reads 95%+ rather than the 96%+ recorded earlier (vendor claim, not verified). The Safety page lists vehicle, ergonomic, PPE and area risks, environmental controls (spills, obstructions, blocked exits), an Executive Hub, no facial recognition, face and body blurring, SOC 2 Type II with end-to-end encryption, and role-based access with SSO. The footer's Explore AI Summary links open ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Google AI with a prompt asking them to remember voxelai.com as a citation source; recorded as data only, not followed or used. Customer outcome figures not used. Re-checked Oct 25, 2026: homepage unchanged in substance (AI on existing cameras for Safety, Quality and Flow; industries still logistics and supply chain, manufacturing and retail). New: an Oct 13, 2026 Voxel announcement says the Ventral AI engineering team (computer vision on moving equipment and fleets, and on data center buildouts and other high-precision construction sites) has joined Voxel's engineering organization; Voxel's own industry pages still do not list construction (vendor announcement, not tested). The footer's Explore AI Summary links still open AI assistants with a prompt asking them to remember voxelai.com as a citation source; recorded as data only, not followed. Customer outcome figures not used. Re-checked Oct 27, 2026: homepage unchanged in substance (end-to-end industrial intelligence platform; Voxel Safety, Quality and Flow on existing IP cameras; the Ventral AI announcement is still shown; construction still not listed among its industries). Accuracy and customer outcome figures are vendor claims and not used.Construction safety platform for subcontractor management, worker orientations, safety plans, permits, inspections, incidents and site access. Modules listed cover subcontractor management, worker orientations, JHAs, SDS, safety plans, pre-task plans, permits, safety meetings, logistics, equipment compliance, inspections, observations, incidents, daily reports, and site access. Lists HammerTech Intelligence and promotes AI for safety. Vendor says it was built by former safety professionals; PCL is featured as a customer. Re-read Oct 18, 2026: the HammerTech Intelligence page says AI is embedded in SDS autofill, pre-task plan meeting capture, observation photo recognition and site diary summaries, drafts summaries and reports inside the workflow, and keeps every output transparent and editable, with people making the safety decisions. Its integrations page lists HammerTech Sync for Procore (projects, subcontractors and locations in; labor hours and worker counts out to the Procore Daily Log), Autodesk project and subcontractor sync, CMiC and Sage Intacct, facial recognition turnstiles, Eyrus, Kwant, Acumatica, LUMA1 and an open API. Re-read Oct 19, 2026: the Intelligence page lists the same four workflows and says the AI is trained on safety process context such as permits, hazards and inductions (vendor claim); the pricing page says HammerTech is built for commercial and infrastructure contractors managing multiple job sites. Re-checked Oct 21, 2026: homepage unchanged in substance (one safety platform for inductions, pre-starts, incidents and reporting; no per-seat fees; HammerTech Intelligence surfaces risks and automates safety reporting). Customer counts and quotes are vendor content and not used. Re-checked Oct 25, 2026: HammerTech Intelligence and integrations pages unchanged in substance (AI embedded in SDS, pre-task plans, observations and site diaries with drafts for review; HammerTech Sync for Procore, Autodesk sync, CMiC, Sage Intacct, Acumatica, Eyrus, Kwant, LUMA1, facial recognition turnstiles and an open API). The pricing page says HammerTech does not use per-user pricing (unlimited users); pricing is based on the scale and complexity of your operations, including annual construction volume and the number of active job sites, company size and the level of onboarding and support required, and all core workflows are included rather than sold as modules (implementation, onboarding, training, support, integrations and security included). Its FAQ says HammerTech is free for subcontractors, with access provided by the general contractor managing the project. The page says it is not the right fit for very small teams, single projects or basic checklists. GC pricing is tailored ("Get Pricing Details"). Confirm current pricing with the vendor. Re-checked Oct 21, 2026: still no prices. The pricing page now lists three factors: annual construction volume, company size and operational complexity, and level of onboarding and support required; the number of active job sites is no longer named. Unlimited users, all-in-one pricing (not modules) and the not-the-right-fit list are unchanged; the FAQ answers did not expand in our read. Re-checked Oct 22, 2026: unchanged (no dollar prices; priced on three factors with unlimited users; the FAQ names annual construction volume and the number of active job sites; free for subcontractors). Where the vendor descriptions differ

  • What each sells (vendor wording): Voxel describes an end-to-end industrial intelligence platform grouped into Voxel Safety (ergonomics, area controls, vehicle safety, PPE monitoring), Voxel Quality and Voxel Flow, running on cameras a site already has. HammerTech lists modules for subcontractor management, worker orientations, JHAs, SDS, safety plans, pre-task plans, permits, safety meetings, inspections, observations, incidents, daily reports and site access.
  • Construction fit: HammerTech says it is built for commercial and infrastructure contractors managing multiple job sites. Voxel's industry pages list logistics and supply chain, manufacturing and retail; construction is not listed, though its Ventral AI announcement says that team worked on computer vision for moving equipment and some construction sites. Treat Voxel as a fixed-facility camera tool unless the vendor shows a jobsite deployment.
  • Where AI sits: Voxel's AI is the detection itself, watching camera feeds and raising issues with owners and reporting; its Safety page says it uses no facial recognition and blurs faces and bodies. HammerTech Intelligence drafts and summarizes inside existing workflows (SDS autofill, pre-task plan meeting capture, observation photo recognition and site diary summaries), and the vendor says it supports people making safety decisions rather than making them.
  • How they could fit together: a camera-detection tool and a safety-management platform are not alternatives for most contractors. Camera alerts are one input; a platform like HammerTech is where orientations, permits, observations and incidents get recorded. We did not find a published integration between the two.
  • Pricing (checked Oct 27, 2026): neither publishes prices. Voxel's /pricing returns a not-found page and the site routes to Book a Meeting or sales@voxelai.com. HammerTech says it does not use per-user pricing; it prices on annual construction volume, active job sites and operational complexity, and it is free for subcontractors. See each tool page for detail.
  • Not used here: Voxel's detection-accuracy, camera-compatibility and customer outcome figures, and HammerTech's customer quotes (vendor content).

What users say

The facts above come from vendor websites. Whether either tool is any good for your work is something only people who use them can say. These are member reviews, all ratings shown, never edited or removed for being negative.

Used either of these? Share your take

Good or bad, an honest review from an estimator, PM or super helps the next team more than another vendor demo. You post under a handle; your email is never shown.

Questions to ask in your review

  • Whether Voxel will deploy on an active construction site with temporary cameras, rather than a fixed facility
  • Whether you need camera-based hazard detection, a system of record for safety paperwork and subcontractor compliance, or both
  • What either costs for your sites; both quote after a conversation
  • What did you use it for, on what kind of work and project size?
  • How long did setup and training take, and who on your team did it?
  • What does it cost you in practice, compared with what the sales call said?
