Hover vs CompanyCam
Two phone apps that roofing, exterior and remodeling contractors often use on the same job for different reasons. Hover turns photos taken in its app into a 3D model with measurements, then adds design with real products, estimates and agreements. CompanyCam is jobsite photo and video documentation with timelines, checklists, reports, proposals and AI tools that work from voice and photos. Both publish prices. Desk research from vendor pages read Oct 27, 2026; not tested, no winner.
In short: Hover (Smartphone-photo 3D models and exterior/interior measurements; vendor publishes prices) vs CompanyCam (Jobsite photo documentation; vendor publishes prices). Facts last checked Oct 27, 2026. No winner declared; not tested.

| What it does | Measure, design and estimate platform for exterior and interior home improvement and insurance work. A contractor, adjuster or invited homeowner takes photos in the Hover app (its help center, updated Feb 20, 2026, says 8 photos, one of each side and corner, with more allowed) and Hover returns a 3D model and measurements for roof, siding, gutters, windows and openings, or roof only; interior scans and blueprint uploads are also offered. Hover's product page calls the photo-to-model step "patented technology" and does not describe it as AI. Its GenAI disclosure (updated Feb 10, 2026) says Hover uses generative AI in select offerings, for example to generate exterior and interior visual designs in Instant Design, combining custom models with pre-trained public ones (it names Stable Diffusion, Realistic Vision, Metric3D, OneFormer, MLSD and NormalBAE) and a dataset of user-submitted images paired with structural annotations such as ridge lines and eaves. Pages read Oct 18, 2026 also list Estimates, Agreements, CRM integrations, an API, Verisk and Cotality estimatics integrations, and for insurers damage assessment and Xactimate-ready scope of loss (Enterprise, contact sales). Vendor says 300K+ construction pros use Hover and 22B+ square feet have been measured (vendor claims, not verified by us). Re-read Oct 19, 2026: the pricing page also prices scans built from blueprints (see pricing). Re-checked Oct 21, 2026: homepage unchanged in substance (scan, design with real materials, measure and estimate; Hover Inspections for insurance). The pricing page's feature table lists direct material ordering with suppliers such as ABC, SRS and QXO and pricing integrations on Pro and above, and Hover Design Embed and homeowner insights on Enterprise only. Re-checked Oct 23, 2026: homepage unchanged in substance. The pricing feature table lists typical turnaround of 12, 4 and 2 hours by plan tier, an expedited option (roof typically within about 1 hour, full exterior within 90 minutes, blueprint uploads excluded), and exports in PDF, XLS, XML, JSON, ESX, SKP, DWG and DXF (Starter lists PDF and ESX). Vendor user counts and testimonials are not used. Re-checked Oct 25, 2026: homepage and pricing page unchanged in substance (phone scan to a 3D model, measurements, design with real products, estimates and inspections; plan tiers Starter, Pro, Business and Enterprise with unlimited users; Business covers up to 10 branches). User counts, square-footage totals and customer quotes are vendor content and not used. Re-checked Oct 27, 2026 (also read for a compare): homepage and pricing page unchanged in substance (scan to a 3D model, design with real materials, measurements, estimates, Hover Inspections for insurance; Starter, Pro, Business and Enterprise). User counts, square-footage totals and customer quotes are not used. | Photo and video documentation app for jobsites with unlimited cloud storage, project timelines, checklists, reports, daily logs and AI tools. It also lists signatures, payments, invoices, proposals and integrations. AI tools described on the homepage and pricing pages: voice-driven checklists and reports, translation of project communication, project recaps, and proposals from voice notes and photos. LiDAR room measurement on supported iOS devices (vendor claim). Useful for photo evidence behind punch and QC walks even when it is not a dedicated defect tracker. Re-checked Oct 19, 2026: the pricing page also lists a Marketing Suite add-on (AI social media content, review requests and management, Google Business Profile sync, website gallery and map). Re-checked Oct 22, 2026: homepage and pricing page unchanged in substance (AI-powered reports, checklists, captions and updates by voice; proposals from voice notes and photos on Crew; room measurement and auto-translation on Scale; Marketing Suite add-on); the pricing page now has a USD/GBP currency switch, and the homepage promotes a new CompanyCam community forum. Re-checked Oct 25, 2026: homepage and pricing page unchanged in substance (AI-powered reports, checklists, captions and updates by voice; proposals from voice notes and photos on Crew; room measurement and auto-translation on Scale; Marketing Suite add-on; community forum). Pricing page data attributes (re-checked Oct 16, 2026) show Core $63/month billed annually ($79 monthly), Crew $119/month billed annually ($149 monthly), Scale $249/month billed annually ($299 monthly); additional users listed at $29 annually / $34 monthly on the same page. Enterprise is custom. Vendor FAQ says AI features are included in Crew, Scale, and Enterprise. Free trial offered. Unchanged Oct 19, 2026 (rendered pricing page): Core includes 1 user (2-user limit), Crew and Scale include 3 users, Enterprise is for 50+ users, yearly billing is advertised as saving 20%, and the plan table has a Total AI Credits row reading 10 credits, 100 credits and Unlimited (confirm which plan gets which with the vendor). Re-checked Oct 20, 2026 (pricing page data attributes): Core, Crew and Scale prices and the $29 / $34 additional-user prices unchanged; the FAQ still says AI features are included in Crew, Scale and Enterprise. Re-checked Oct 22, 2026 (pricing page data attributes): no price changes (Core $63/month billed annually or $79 monthly, Crew $119 or $149, Scale $249 or $299; additional users $29 annually or $34 monthly; Enterprise for 50+ users by quote; yearly billing advertised as saving 20%; Total AI Credits row still 10, 100 and Unlimited; the FAQ still says AI features are included in Crew, Scale and Enterprise). Re-checked Oct 23, 2026 (pricing page data attributes): plan-card prices unchanged (Core $63/month billed annually or $79 monthly, Crew $119 or $149, Scale $249 or $299; additional users $29 annually or $34 monthly; Enterprise custom). The same page's Compare Plans table reads Core $63, Crew $129 and Scale $199 a month, which conflicts with the plan cards for Crew and Scale; confirm current prices with the vendor. The FAQ still says AI features are included in Crew, Scale and Enterprise, and the Total AI Credits row still reads 10, 100 and Unlimited. Re-checked Oct 25, 2026 (pricing page data attributes): plan-card prices unchanged (Core $63/month billed annually or $79 monthly, Crew $119 or $149, Scale $249 or $299; additional users $29 annually or $34 monthly; Enterprise custom for 50+ users). The Compare Plans table still reads Core $63, Crew $129 and Scale $199 a month, conflicting with the plan cards for Crew and Scale; confirm with the vendor. AI features still included in Crew, Scale and Enterprise; Total AI Credits row still 10, 100 and Unlimited. Resolved Oct 25, 2026: the Compare Plans table conflict came from placeholder figures in the page's raw HTML ($129 and $199); when the pricing page is rendered in a browser, the table fills in from the same plan data as the cards and reads Core $63, Crew $119 and Scale $249 a month billed annually, matching the plan cards ($79, $149 and $299 billed monthly; additional users $29 annually or $34 monthly). The plan-card prices above are the current list prices. Re-checked Oct 27, 2026 (rendered pricing page): no price changes (Core $63/month billed annually, 1 user with a 2-user limit; Crew $119 and Scale $249 billed annually with 3 users; additional users $29 billed annually; Enterprise 50+ users, Let's Chat). |

Where the vendor descriptions differ
- What each sells (vendor wording): Hover lists measure, design and estimate in one place, interior and exterior measurements, interactive 3D models, photo markups, invite-to-scan for homeowners, Hover Design, production-ready estimates with material lists, and Hover Inspections for insurance. CompanyCam lists photo and video capture, galleries and timelines, annotations, in-app communications, tags, documents, integrations, sales tools (proposals, deposits and invoices) and a Marketing Suite add-on.
- Measuring: Hover's core output is a 3D model with roof, siding, gutter, window and interior measurements from phone photos or uploaded blueprints. CompanyCam lists room measurement with LiDAR on supported iPhones and iPads; it is a documentation tool first, not a measurement service.
- AI: Hover's GenAI notice says it uses generative AI in select offerings such as design visualizations, and its product page calls the photo-to-model step patented technology rather than AI. CompanyCam describes AI that creates reports, checklists, captions and updates from voice, with a Total AI Credits row in its plan table.
- Who they name: Hover names exterior contractors, home builders, restoration firms, insurance carriers, adjusters and architects. CompanyCam names contractors from small teams to enterprise and franchise networks, with trade pages for general contractors, HVAC, landscaping, restoration, roofing and solar.
- Pricing (checked Oct 27, 2026): Hover charges per scan, with Starter pay per project (first 3 projects free), Pro $999/year, Business $2,999/year and Enterprise custom; a full exterior scan is $59 to $139 on Starter by complexity, $20 less on Pro and $79 flat on Business. CompanyCam's plan cards list Core $63, Crew $119 and Scale $249 a month billed annually ($79, $149 and $299 billed monthly), added users $29 a month billed annually, and Enterprise for 50+ users. See each tool page for detail.
- Not used here: Hover's user counts, square-footage totals and customer quote, and CompanyCam's customer reviews and quotes (vendor content).

Good or bad, an honest review from an estimator, PM or super helps the next team more than another vendor demo. You post under a handle; your email is never shown.
Questions to ask in your review
- Whether your bottleneck is getting measurements for bids or keeping photo records and updates for crews and customers
- How many scans a month you would buy from Hover, and how many users and AI credits you would need on CompanyCam
- Whether the two connect directly in your setup; both list CRM and estimating integrations, but we did not find a Hover-CompanyCam integration on the pages we read
- What did you use it for, on what kind of work and project size?
- How long did setup and training take, and who on your team did it?
- What does it cost you in practice, compared with what the sales call said?
