Intenseye vs HammerTech

Two safety tools that work at different layers. Intenseye is camera-vision AI that watches existing CCTV or its own Sentinel devices for serious-injury risks and can trigger speakers, lights, alerts or a machine hard stop; its industry pages are industrial facilities, not construction. HammerTech is a construction safety platform for subcontractor management, orientations, permits, inspections, incidents and site access, with AI drafting built into those workflows. Not like-for-like. Desk research from vendor pages read Oct 27, 2026; not tested, no winner.

What it doesReal-time AI workplace safety platform that runs computer vision on existing CCTV or its Sentinel devices to detect serious-injury hazards. Vendor says it works with 200+ camera brands and detects 50+ hazard types tied to serious injuries and fatalities: PPE, vehicle-pedestrian, zone controls, ergonomics (REBA/RULA scoring), housekeeping. Alerts can trigger speakers, lights, or a PLC hard stop; events become coaching sessions. Privacy features listed: face/body blurring and dynamic masking. Vendor cites 400+ facilities in 45+ countries (vendor claim). Note: examples are mostly industrial facilities, not construction sites. Re-checked Oct 19, 2026: the homepage still lists 200+ camera brands, 50+ hazard types, speaker/light/PLC hard-stop actions and face and body blurring, and the Sentinel hardware line now named on the site includes a motorized dome camera, Hub and Hub Pro edge compute (NVIDIA Jetson Orin NX), a signal beacon, thermal and depth cameras, a 4G solar kit and an IP speaker; the safety copilot is named Chief (SafetyGPT). Re-checked Oct 21, 2026: the homepage still describes computer vision on existing cameras or Sentinel devices detecting 50+ hazard types, speaker, light, alert or PLC hard-stop actions, coaching sessions generated by Chief and face and body blurring, dynamic masking and timestamp anonymization; the 200+ camera brands and 400+ facilities figures recorded earlier did not appear in the rendered homepage text. The hardware lineup now shows Sentinel Hub Mini (smaller-to-mid sites) and Hub Pro, plus Core dome, Beacon, Thermal, Depth, Solar 4G and Speaker devices. Re-checked Oct 22, 2026: homepage unchanged in substance (computer vision on existing CCTV or Sentinel devices across 50+ hazard types; speaker, light, alert or PLC hard-stop actions; coaching generated by Chief; facial and body blurring and dynamic masking). The Sentinel Hub section again says it connects existing CCTV from 200+ camera brands and talks to modern and legacy PLCs, and the hardware menu lists Hub, Hub Pro, a motorized dome, Beacon, Thermal, Depth, a 4G solar kit and a speaker. Its 10-industries and 45+-countries line is a vendor claim and is not used. Re-checked Oct 23, 2026: pricing page describes Prevent as the per-camera platform running 50+ safety detections (PPE compliance, area controls, behavioral safety, vehicle controls, housekeeping, ergonomics) with Chief (SafetyGPT), Insights, Actions and a Teams integration included; the Connect module covers industrial connectivity, EHS systems of record, identity and SSO, BI and digital safety signage, and the EHS Suite covers incidents, inspections, audits, risk assessment and a mobile app. The page now also offers forward-deployed engineers who custom-build safety, operations and quality solutions, and its FAQ says Intenseye is SOC 2 Type II and can trigger a machine stop in about 0.8 seconds (vendor statements). Its ROI calculator example and ROI-study figures are vendor content and are not used. Re-checked Oct 25, 2026: homepage and pricing page unchanged in substance (Prevent per-camera platform with Chief, Insights and Actions; Connect and EHS Suite modules; Sentinel hardware including the Sentinel Solar 4G-solar camera kit still marked coming soon). Edge-compute specs, ROI figures and customer quotes are vendor content and are not used. Re-checked Oct 26, 2026 (also read for a compare): homepage and pricing page unchanged in substance (computer vision on existing cameras from 200+ brands or Sentinel devices, 50+ hazard types; speaker, light, alert or PLC hard-stop actions; coaching generated by Chief; facial and body blurring, dynamic masking and timestamp anonymization; SOC 2 Type II badge; Sentinel Solar 4G-solar kit still marked coming soon). The menu now groups Safety, Operations (pathway, utilization, cycle-time) and Quality (hygiene, QA stations, cleanroom, cold chain) solutions, and its industries list still does not include construction. ROI figures and customer results are vendor content and are not used. Re-checked Oct 27, 2026: homepage unchanged in substance (detect, act, coach and track; Sentinel Core, Hub, Hub Pro, Beacon, Thermal, Speaker, Depth and Hard Stop hardware, with Sentinel Solar still marked coming soon; works with existing CCTV from 200+ brands; the industries menu still does not list construction). ROI figures are vendor content and are not used.Construction safety platform for subcontractor management, worker orientations, safety plans, permits, inspections, incidents and site access. Modules listed cover subcontractor management, worker orientations, JHAs, SDS, safety plans, pre-task plans, permits, safety meetings, logistics, equipment compliance, inspections, observations, incidents, daily reports, and site access. Lists HammerTech Intelligence and promotes AI for safety. Vendor says it was built by former safety professionals; PCL is featured as a customer. Re-read Oct 18, 2026: the HammerTech Intelligence page says AI is embedded in SDS autofill, pre-task plan meeting capture, observation photo recognition and site diary summaries, drafts summaries and reports inside the workflow, and keeps every output transparent and editable, with people making the safety decisions. Its integrations page lists HammerTech Sync for Procore (projects, subcontractors and locations in; labor hours and worker counts out to the Procore Daily Log), Autodesk project and subcontractor sync, CMiC and Sage Intacct, facial recognition turnstiles, Eyrus, Kwant, Acumatica, LUMA1 and an open API. Re-read Oct 19, 2026: the Intelligence page lists the same four workflows and says the AI is trained on safety process context such as permits, hazards and inductions (vendor claim); the pricing page says HammerTech is built for commercial and infrastructure contractors managing multiple job sites. Re-checked Oct 21, 2026: homepage unchanged in substance (one safety platform for inductions, pre-starts, incidents and reporting; no per-seat fees; HammerTech Intelligence surfaces risks and automates safety reporting). The pricing page says HammerTech does not use per-user pricing (unlimited users); pricing is based on the scale and complexity of your operations, including annual construction volume and the number of active job sites, company size and the level of onboarding and support required, and all core workflows are included rather than sold as modules (implementation, onboarding, training, support, integrations and security included). Its FAQ says HammerTech is free for subcontractors, with access provided by the general contractor managing the project. The page says it is not the right fit for very small teams, single projects or basic checklists. GC pricing is tailored ("Get Pricing Details"). Confirm current pricing with the vendor. Re-checked Oct 21, 2026: still no prices. Where the vendor descriptions differ

  • What each sells (vendor wording): Intenseye describes detecting 50+ hazard types on every camera, acting in the moment, turning each event into a coaching session generated by its Chief assistant, and tracking risk over time, with Operations and Quality solutions alongside Safety. HammerTech lists modules for subcontractor management, orientations and worker info, JHAs, SDS, safety plans, pre-task plans, permits, safety meetings, notifications, logistics, equipment compliance, inspections, site observations, incidents, daily reports and site access.
  • Construction fit: HammerTech's menu lists commercial, data center, civil and infrastructure, energy and industrial work, and general contractors, EPC contractors, owners and subcontractors. Intenseye's industries menu lists manufacturing, automotive, warehouses, food and beverage, metals, chemicals, paper and packaging, building materials and air cargo and logistics; construction is not listed. Its Sentinel Solar 4G camera kit for remote locations is still marked coming soon.
  • Where AI sits: Intenseye's AI is the detection itself, on existing CCTV from 200+ brands or Sentinel cameras, processed on site by a Sentinel Hub; it lists face and body blurring and says no facial recognition. HammerTech Intelligence drafts and summarizes inside existing forms (SDS, pre-task plans, observations and site diaries) and surfaces patterns across safety records, without a separate tool to learn.
  • How they could fit together: a camera-detection tool and a safety-management platform are not alternatives for most contractors. Camera alerts are one input; a platform like HammerTech is where orientations, permits, observations and incidents get recorded. We did not find a published integration between the two.
  • Pricing (checked Oct 27, 2026): neither publishes dollar prices. Intenseye charges one annual subscription per connected camera with every safety use case included and no per-incident or per-use-case fees, optional Connect and EHS Suite modules at an annual flat fee, and hardware by custom quote. HammerTech says it does not use per-user pricing, prices on annual construction volume, active job sites and operational complexity, and is free for subcontractors. See each tool page for detail.
  • Not used here: Intenseye's ROI calculator outputs, facility counts and customer results, and HammerTech's customer quotes (vendor content). Neither tool has been tested by Means & Methods Lab.

Questions to ask in your review

  • Whether Intenseye will deploy on an active construction site with temporary cameras, rather than a fixed facility
  • Whether you need camera-based hazard detection, a system of record for safety paperwork and subcontractor compliance, or both
  • What either costs for your sites; both quote after a conversation
  • What did you use it for, on what kind of work and project size?
  • How long did setup and training take, and who on your team did it?
  • What does it cost you in practice, compared with what the sales call said?
