Jobber vs Projul

Two published-price platforms for small and mid-size contractors that overlap on quotes, scheduling, invoicing and payments but come from different trades. Jobber is field service management for home service businesses in 50+ industries, with built-in Jobber AI (chat and voice assistant, Rewrite, suggested automations, a custom report builder) and an AI Receptionist add-on. Projul is construction CRM and project management for builders, remodelers and specialty contractors, with job costing, progress billing and purchase orders, and adds AI through Projul AI Connect, an MCP server that lets ChatGPT, Claude or Zapier work in the account, on its Pro plan. Not like-for-like: recurring service visits versus construction projects, built-in AI versus a bring-your-own-assistant connector, and per-user versus user-cap pricing. Desk research from vendor sites read Oct 31, 2026; no winner.

What it doesField service management software for home service businesses in 50+ industries including HVAC, plumbing and landscaping: online booking, quotes, invoices and online payments, scheduling and route optimization, a client hub, two-way texting, automations, job costing, time tracking with geofenced visit timers, receipt capture into job expenses, QuickBooks Online and Xero sync and an app marketplace of 100+ tools. Its AI page is organized around Custom Report Builder, Automations (Jobber suggests automations and can send follow-ups, draft quotes and flag high-value jobs), Rewrite for client messages, AI Receptionist, Voice (100+ tasks hands-free from the mobile app, with note translation for field workers) and Recommendations (business advice from your data and patterns across home service companies); Jobber AI also works as a chat assistant on web and mobile. Receptionist answers calls and texts 24/7, books visits using your online booking settings, creates work requests or takes messages, texts back callers who hang up, transfers the call or texts you on keywords you choose (for example burst pipe or no heat), and logs a summary, transcript and recording of each conversation; calls and texts can be switched on separately and existing numbers kept through call forwarding. The Receptionist page lists a Receptionist Companion, which drafts paperwork while you take a call, as coming soon. User counts, call-handling figures and quotes are vendor content and are not used.Construction management software for residential builders, remodelers, restoration and specialty contractors: CRM and lead capture, estimates and change orders, e-signatures, invoicing and payment processing, progress billing, scheduling with Gantt charts and linear timelines, job costing and budgeting, purchase orders, a client portal, a mobile app with geofenced time tracking, daily logs, Spanish translation and QuickBooks integration. Its AI is Projul AI Connect ("Run Projul from ChatGPT, Claude and more"): an MCP (Model Context Protocol) server, so any AI tool that supports MCP connectors, including ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, Windsurf and Claude Code, or Zapier, Make and n8n, can work in the Projul account with an API key from Projul settings, for example turning a voicemail into a lead, drafting an estimate or change order from notes, shifting a schedule or updating a cost library from a supplier price list. Projul says the assistant can build and edit draft estimates and change orders but they stay drafts until someone on the team sends them; it cannot approve them or text or email customers, totals, taxes and markups are calculated by Projul rather than the AI, and only owners and admins can create a key, read-only or read-write, which can be turned off at any time. The FAQ says AI Connect does not yet create or send invoices or work with the time clock, timesheets, payroll, daily logs or purchase orders. The pricing FAQ places AI Connect on the Pro plan only. Contractor counts, review-site ratings, profit and time-saved figures and the ROI calculator are vendor material and are not used.

Where the vendor descriptions differ

  • What each sells (vendor wording): Jobber lists online booking, quotes, invoices and online payments, scheduling, a client hub, client communication, job management, a sales pipeline, team management and marketing tools, with QuickBooks Online sync on Connect and up, job costing and two-way SMS on Grow and up, and crew scheduling and custom reports on Plus. Projul lists lead management, estimating, change orders, CRM and e-signatures, invoicing and payment processing, a mobile app, job costing and budgeting, progress billing, a client portal, QuickBooks Online, field takeoffs, daily logs, GPS and geofencing, purchase orders and selections.
  • Who each names: Jobber names home service businesses such as HVAC, plumbing, electrical, roofing, landscaping, cleaning, remodeling and construction and contracting among 50+ industries. Projul names general, commercial and remodeling contractors, home builders, electricians, plumbers, roofers, HVAC contractors, painters and concrete contractors.
  • AI (vendor statements): Jobber AI is a built-in assistant by chat on web and mobile and by voice on mobile that answers business questions from your data, builds custom reports, drafts quotes and suggests automations; Rewrite polishes client messages; AI Receptionist answers calls and texts, captures leads and books jobs within limits you set. Projul AI Connect lets an outside assistant such as ChatGPT or Claude, or Zapier, add leads, draft estimates and change orders and update the schedule; Projul says estimates and change orders stay drafts until someone sends them. Using Projul AI Connect also needs your own AI tool, on that tool's terms.
  • Pricing (checked Oct 31, 2026): Jobber lists Core $49, Connect $139 and Grow $199 a month for one user with no commitment ($29, $99 and $149 billed annually), Plus from $499 with 5 users ($399 billed annually), $29 a month per added user, and AI Receptionist at $29 a month. Projul lists Starter $199 a month billed annually or $249 monthly (up to 3 users), Core $399 or $529 (up to 10), Core+ $599 or $799 (up to 20) and Pro $1,199 or $1,599 (unlimited users, with AI Connect). Jobber prices by plan plus users and Projul by user cap, so totals depend on headcount.
