Roofr vs Projul

Two published-price platforms that run the office side of residential contracting, from different starting points. Partly like-for-like (our reading): Roofr is roofing-only software that pairs aerial roof measurement reports with a CRM, proposals, invoices and payments, and sells an AI Receptionist add-on; Projul is construction CRM and project management for builders, remodelers, restoration and specialty contractors (roofers included), with scheduling, job costing, progress billing and purchase orders, and adds AI through Projul AI Connect, an MCP connector for outside assistants, on its Pro plan. Desk research from vendor sites read Nov 4, 2026; no winner.

What it doesRoofing software that pairs aerial roof measurement reports with a CRM (job boards, proposals, e-signatures, invoices and payments, material ordering through ABC Supply, QXO and SRS, CompanyCam and QuickBooks integrations). Roofr Reports are ordered by address from aerial imagery and include pitch, squares, edges, a waste factor and material lists; Roofr says every report goes through a multi-check system and at least one Roofr expert reviews each report before delivery, that paid-plan reports are guaranteed in 2 hours or less, and that it is the only service that lets you edit a finished report (vendor claims). A DIY tool lets you draw your own report from aerial, drone or blueprint images. The AI on the pages we read is outside the measurement step: an AI Receptionist add-on (tagged Beta on the pricing page) that answers calls 24/7, books appointments, gives quotes and creates job cards (its FAQ says setup takes about 10 minutes by call forwarding to a dedicated number, returning customers are routed to a human, and it introduces itself as your business, noting some callers will know it is AI), and Roofr Sites (Beta), described as AI-built websites. The Instant Estimator gives homeowners a roof estimate from their address based on the contractor's pricing. Testimonials and ratings on the pages are not used.Construction management software for residential builders, remodelers, restoration and specialty contractors: CRM and lead capture, estimates and change orders, e-signatures, invoicing and payment processing, progress billing, scheduling with Gantt charts and linear timelines, job costing and budgeting, purchase orders, a client portal, a mobile app with geofenced time tracking, daily logs, Spanish translation and QuickBooks integration. Its AI is Projul AI Connect ("Run Projul from ChatGPT, Claude and more"): an MCP (Model Context Protocol) server, so any AI tool that supports MCP connectors, including ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, Windsurf and Claude Code, or Zapier, Make and n8n, can work in the Projul account with an API key from Projul settings, for example turning a voicemail into a lead, drafting an estimate or change order from notes, shifting a schedule or updating a cost library from a supplier price list. Projul says the assistant can build and edit draft estimates and change orders but they stay drafts until someone on the team sends them; it cannot approve them or text or email customers, totals, taxes and markups are calculated by Projul rather than the AI, and only owners and admins can create a key, read-only or read-write, which can be turned off at any time. The FAQ says AI Connect does not yet create or send invoices or work with the time clock, timesheets, payroll, daily logs or purchase orders. The pricing FAQ places AI Connect on the Pro plan only. Contractor counts, review-site ratings, profit and time-saved figures and the ROI calculator are vendor material and are not used.

Where the vendor descriptions differ

  • Where they overlap: both list leads and a CRM, estimates or proposals with e-signatures, invoices and payments, and QuickBooks integration. Roofr adds measurement reports and material ordering through ABC Supply, QXO and SRS; Projul adds Gantt scheduling, job costing and budgeting, progress billing, purchase orders, a client portal, daily logs and geofenced time tracking.
  • Who each names: Roofr names residential roofing contractors, from owner-operators to multi-crew teams. Projul names residential builders, remodelers, restoration, roofing and other specialty contractors.
  • Measurements: Roofr sells aerial roof reports ordered by address (pitch, squares, edges, waste factor, material lists) and a DIY tool for drawing your own report; it says a Roofr expert reviews each report before delivery (vendor claim). Projul lists field takeoffs on its Pro plan and no aerial measurement reports on the pages we read.
  • AI (vendor statements): Roofr's AI Receptionist (Beta) answers calls 24/7, books appointments, gives quotes and creates job cards, and Roofr Sites (Beta) is described as AI-built websites. Projul AI Connect is an MCP server that lets ChatGPT, Claude, Zapier and similar tools work in the account with an API key, for example drafting estimates and change orders that stay drafts until someone sends them; using it needs your own AI tool.
  • Pricing (read Nov 4, 2026): Roofr has a $0 Starter plan with $19 pay-per-report measurements, Measure+ from $109 a month, Essentials $249 and Scale $349 a month (lower billed yearly), and the AI Receptionist at $99 a month with 200 minutes of calls.
